As of October 13, 2026, the official Rockstar material available for this check does not publish Windows PC requirements for Red Dead Redemption 3. That means you should not treat any CPU, GPU, RAM, storage figure, release date, or performance target as an RDR3 requirement.
You can still prepare a useful compatibility check. Record your exact Windows version, processor, graphics card and video memory, installed RAM, and free storage. When Rockstar publishes requirements for the specific game, compare those details with its minimum specifications first and its recommended specifications, if provided, afterward.

What can be confirmed about Red Dead Redemption 3 on PC
The official Rockstar pages located for this subject cover Red Dead Redemption 2 and the original Red Dead Redemption, not a published PC specification sheet for Red Dead Redemption 3. The absence is important: a search result, retailer listing, video, or “Can I Run It?” style scanner cannot substitute for requirements issued for the exact title.

Why Red Dead Redemption 2 specifications do not answer the RDR3 question
Rockstar’s PC announcement for Red Dead Redemption 2 demonstrates the format a future requirements page may use, but every figure below belongs to RDR2. It is not a forecast for a sequel and should not be entered into a compatibility tool as an RDR3 requirement.
| Category | RDR2 minimum in Rockstar’s 2019 PC announcement | RDR2 recommended in Rockstar’s 2019 PC announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 7 Service Pack 1 | Windows 10 April 2018 Update, version 1803 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300 | Intel Core i7-4770K or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X |
| Memory | 8 GB | 12 GB |
| Graphics | Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 with 2 GB or AMD Radeon R9 280 with 3 GB | Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 480 with 4 GB |
| Storage | 150 GB | 150 GB |
| Sound | DirectX-compatible sound card | DirectX-compatible sound card |
Rockstar Support’s later RDR2 listing, dated April 30, 2024, uses different version-era wording. It identifies Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300, 8 GB of memory, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 280, and 150 GB of hard-drive space among the minimum requirements. Do not silently combine that support entry with the 2019 announcement or present either list as RDR3 data.
The original Red Dead Redemption is a separate PC release. Rockstar Support’s listing dated October 16, 2024 includes Intel Core i5-4670, 8 GB of memory, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, Windows 10 64-bit, and 12 GB of storage in its indexed minimum list. Its indexed recommended list includes an Intel Core i5-8500, NVIDIA RTX 2070, and 12 GB of SSD storage. Those figures are also title-specific and cannot establish what RDR3 will require.

For this question, an official requirement is a specification Rockstar publishes for the exact PC game, such as a Rockstar Games announcement or a current Rockstar Support page headed for Red Dead Redemption 3. A store page that merely lists a platform, a search snippet, or a third-party database entry is not enough by itself. Check the title, platform, date, and whether the table is labeled minimum or recommended.
Rockstar could publish one list first and revise or clarify it later. RDR2 illustrates why dates matter: its 2019 PC announcement and the April 30, 2024 Support entry use different wording even where the core minimum components overlap. Preserve the page date and avoid blending rows from separate versions into a new unofficial specification.
Collect the PC information you will eventually need
Write down the exact model names rather than broad labels such as “Core i7,” “GeForce,” or “16 GB computer.” Requirements are compared against a particular processor and graphics model, and graphics memory can differ substantially between cards that share a family name.

Windows edition and version
- Press
Windows+R, typewinver, and press Enter. Record the Windows edition and version shown in the About Windows dialog. - For a fuller record, open Settings > System > About. Note the Windows edition, version, and system type, such as 64-bit operating system.
- Keep the build or version number with the date you recorded it. Windows labels and update requirements can change, and a future Rockstar page may name a minimum release rather than simply “Windows 10” or “Windows 11.”
Processor model
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager. - Select Performance, then CPU. Copy the complete processor name shown at the top of the pane.
- Do not substitute the number of cores, clock speed, or a family label for the model. Save the full designation, including a suffix such as K, X, or H when it appears.
Graphics card and video memory
- In Task Manager, open Performance and select each GPU entry. A laptop can expose an integrated GPU and a discrete GPU, so record both names if both are listed.
- Record the dedicated GPU memory value. Shared system memory is not the same as dedicated video memory, and a requirement may specify a card or a VRAM amount.
- You can also press
Windows+R, enterdxdiag, and inspect the Display or Render tabs. If the computer has more than one adapter, check every relevant tab and note which adapter runs games.
Installed system memory
- In Task Manager, select Performance > Memory.
- Record the total installed memory in gigabytes, not only the amount currently available. Also note whether Windows reports a hardware-reserved portion if the total appears lower than the modules you installed.
Available storage
- Open File Explorer > This PC and record the free space on the drive where you would install the game.
- For a drive-by-drive view, open Settings > System > Storage. Record the drive type if you know it, but treat capacity as the first comparison because a publisher may specify a required amount of free space.
- Leave room for the launcher, updates, save data, and temporary installation files. A requirement expressed as a game size is not necessarily the same as the free space needed during installation.
Use a simple inventory record
Save one dated note with these fields: Windows edition, Windows version and system type; complete CPU model; every GPU model; dedicated VRAM for the gaming GPU; total installed RAM; installation-drive free space; and the date checked. Add the source URL and date when you later find an official RDR3 requirements page. This prevents a vague label such as “gaming laptop” from being mistaken for a specification.
How to compare your computer after Rockstar publishes RDR3 requirements
Use the publisher’s page for the exact game and edition. A future listing may provide minimum and recommended columns, as Rockstar did for RDR2, or it may use different headings. Follow the labels on that page rather than importing categories from another title.
- Confirm the title. The page, store listing, and requirements heading must say Red Dead Redemption 3. Requirements headed RDR2 or the original RDR answer a different question.
- Match the operating system. Compare your edition, 64-bit status, and version with the stated minimum. If the page names a specific Windows update, check that exact version rather than assuming any newer-looking label qualifies.
- Match the processor model. Compare the complete CPU model against the Intel or AMD examples Rockstar provides. A newer generation is not automatically equivalent in every workload, and a clock-speed comparison alone is not sufficient.
- Match memory. Compare installed system RAM with the minimum, then with the recommended value if one exists. Do not count graphics memory as system RAM.
- Match the graphics card and VRAM. Check the exact GPU model and the dedicated video-memory amount. An apparently similar card can have a different VRAM capacity or performance level.
- Match storage. Compare the free space on the intended installation drive with the stated requirement. If Rockstar distinguishes hard-drive and solid-state storage, follow that distinction.
- Check additional requirements. Review any DirectX, sound, driver, launcher, account, or connectivity conditions Rockstar lists. Do not assume that a machine passing the headline hardware rows passes every condition.
- Interpret the result conservatively. Meeting minimum specifications means the PC reaches the publisher’s stated floor; it does not promise a particular resolution, image-quality preset, or frame rate unless Rockstar publishes such a target.
Minimum versus recommended: what the two tiers actually tell you
A minimum tier is a compatibility floor. It generally answers whether the game is intended to start and operate on a configuration at or above the listed components under the publisher’s stated conditions. It does not tell you that the game will run at 1080p, maintain 60 frames per second, or use high settings.
A recommended tier is a stronger target for the experience Rockstar has in mind, but it still may not promise a universal frame rate. Performance can vary with resolution, graphics preset, ray-tracing or other features, driver versions, background applications, patches, and the part of the game being rendered.
If a future page lists only a minimum tier, report only what that tier establishes. Do not invent a “comfortable” tier by treating a current high-end card or a previous game’s recommended GPU as an RDR3 recommendation.

Common mistakes that produce a false compatibility answer
Using another Red Dead game’s numbers
RDR2’s 8 GB minimum memory and 150 GB storage, for example, are Rockstar’s figures for RDR2 from 2019. The original RDR’s 12 GB storage minimum is a different game’s figure. Neither number can be copied into an RDR3 checklist.

Trusting an unofficial requirement generator
Pages that claim to test an unreleased or undocumented game may be estimating from rumors, selecting a different title, or treating a database entry as an official requirement. Until Rockstar publishes the RDR3 specification, such a result cannot provide a reliable pass or fail.
Comparing only the brand or product family
“GeForce,” “Radeon,” “Core i5,” and “Ryzen 5” each describe many generations and models. Record the full model and VRAM capacity. The same family name does not establish equivalent performance.
Ignoring the weakest category
A computer can have enough RAM but fall short on GPU memory, or have a suitable GPU but an unsupported Windows version or insufficient free space. Check every category Rockstar lists instead of relying on one impressive component.
Assuming an upgrade will solve an unknown requirement
Buying a graphics card, processor, memory kit, or storage device before the official specification exists can leave the actual shortfall untouched. The appropriate upgrade depends on both Rockstar’s eventual requirement and the configuration you recorded.
Costs and upgrades: why there is no sensible shopping list today
There is no defensible dollar estimate for making a PC “RDR3-ready” while Rockstar has not published the game’s requirements. The cost could be zero if your existing system qualifies, or it could involve one component or a broader platform change. Prices also depend on your current motherboard, power supply, case, cooling, storage interface, and local market.
Do not buy a component, a complete PC, a game copy, or a system-scanning subscription solely because a page claims to know RDR3 requirements. A generic upgrade can be useful for other games, but it is not an evidence-based RDR3 recommendation. Wait for the exact minimum and recommended rows, then price only the category that actually falls short.

What to do if your PC falls short later
Once official requirements exist, identify the first category that misses the minimum and verify the diagnosis before spending money.
- If Windows is below the stated version, check update eligibility and application compatibility before changing hardware.
- If system memory is short, confirm the motherboard’s supported capacity and the number of occupied slots before selecting a kit.
- If the GPU or VRAM is short, check the power supply, case clearance, display outputs, and whether the proposed card is compatible with the rest of the system.
- If the processor is short, verify the motherboard socket, firmware support, cooling, and whether a platform change would be required.
- If storage is short, measure the free space on the actual installation drive and account for update headroom rather than buying based only on the advertised game size.
Do not treat a component upgrade as a guaranteed frame-rate solution unless the eventual requirements or a trustworthy benchmark identify that component as the limiting factor.
How to keep the check current
Save the date and source of every requirement you use. Rockstar may publish an announcement first and a support article later, as happened with RDR2, and the wording can differ between those pages. When an RDR3 PC listing appears, check the announcement and the current Rockstar Support entry, then use the most specific, current instructions without merging incompatible version-era statements.
Recheck the official page when the game is formally listed for PC and after major updates. Record whether a requirement applies to a particular edition, operating-system version, storage type, or graphics feature. If Rockstar publishes performance targets or graphics presets, keep those qualifications attached to the target instead of presenting them as universal results.
The practical answer today
You can inventory your PC now, but you cannot honestly label it compatible or incompatible with RDR3 from the official information currently identified. The correct next step is to keep your exact Windows, CPU, GPU and dedicated VRAM, RAM, and free-storage details ready, then compare them with Rockstar’s own RDR3 minimum and recommended specifications when those are published.

What PC specs do I need for Red Dead Redemption 3?
Rockstar has not established a minimum or recommended CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, Windows version, storage amount, sound requirement, or performance target for RDR3 in the identified official material. Do not copy figures from RDR2 or the original Red Dead Redemption.
Can I use Red Dead Redemption 2 requirements as a prediction?
No. RDR2’s 2019 minimum and recommended tables are useful examples of categories Rockstar may publish, but their numbers are specific to RDR2. They are not a forecast for RDR3.
Is Red Dead Redemption 3 confirmed for PC?
The official material checked here does not establish a PC release timing or a PC requirements page for RDR3. Check Rockstar’s official announcements and Support pages for a formal platform listing.
Are “Can I Run It?” websites or requirement videos reliable for RDR3?
Not for an undocumented title. A scanner or video may rely on rumors, a database placeholder, or a different Red Dead game. It cannot replace a requirement Rockstar publishes for RDR3.
Should I upgrade my PC before RDR3 requirements are announced?
Not specifically for RDR3. Without the official minimum and your complete configuration, there is no evidence-based way to choose a GPU, CPU, RAM kit, storage device, or complete replacement system.
How much storage should I reserve?
No RDR3 storage requirement is established. Record free space on the intended installation drive and leave room for the launcher, updates, save data, and temporary installation files once Rockstar provides a number.
Does meeting minimum requirements guarantee 60 frames per second?
No. A minimum tier is a compatibility floor, not a promise of 60 frames per second, 1080p, high settings, or any particular image quality unless Rockstar publishes that performance target.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Rockstar has not published official Red Dead Redemption 3 PC requirements in the material checked through October 13, 2026, so no honest compatibility verdict or upgrade price is possible yet. Record your exact Windows version, CPU, GPU and dedicated VRAM, RAM, and free storage, then compare every category with Rockstar’s RDR3 minimum and recommended specifications when they are officially posted.
