Check the demo’s exact Steam listing, compare its minimum and recommended requirements with your PC’s components, and verify which graphics card the game will use. Meeting the minimum makes the demo a reasonable candidate to try, not a guarantee of smooth performance.
Find the requirements for the exact demo
Search Steam for the game and confirm you have the listing for the demo or its associated game—not a similarly named sequel or a different edition. Look for System Requirements, and check the game’s official website as well if the publisher provides requirements there. Bandai Namco’s Steam support FAQ says minimum and recommended specifications are available on the Steam store page and may also be listed on the game’s official website.

Requirements vary by game, so there is no universal specification for a Soulslike. For example, the Steam listings for ELDEN RING and DARK SOULS III specify different hardware needs: ELDEN RING lists 12 GB RAM and 60 GB of storage at minimum, while DARK SOULS III lists 4 GB RAM and 25 GB. Those figures apply to those listings, not to Soulslike demos generally.
Keep minimum and recommended specs separate
Record both tiers if the page lists them. Minimum is the baseline the publisher specifies; recommended is a higher target for a more comfortable experience. Do not treat recommended specs as a second name for minimum, or assume that meeting minimum guarantees good performance.

Bandai Namco support says, “We cannot guarantee a game will work correctly if the minimum requirements are not met,” and suggests meeting recommended specifications for a better experience. Capcom’s Steam troubleshooting guidance, last updated July 22, 2026, says falling below minimum may result in poor frame rates or the game not running. If a PC meets minimum but not recommended, Capcom suggests trying low graphics settings. These are general cautions, not predictions of performance on a particular computer.
Identify your PC’s hardware in Windows
Use Windows system information or the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (DxDiag) to find the details you need to compare. Capcom’s support instructions ask players to provide their CPU model, GPU model and VRAM, system memory, and Windows version; they also note that DxDiag can show graphics-card and VRAM details.

- Check the processor, Windows version, and memory. Open Windows System Information and note the processor model, installed RAM, and Windows edition/version. Check whether the game requires a particular Windows version or 64-bit operating system.
- Check the graphics adapter and VRAM. Open DxDiag and review the display information for the GPU model and available graphics memory. Write down the exact model rather than a broad label such as “NVIDIA.”
- Check available storage. Compare the free space on the drive where you plan to install the demo with the storage amount listed on its Steam page. A requirement for disk space is separate from the RAM requirement.

- Processor: exact CPU model against the listed model or a documented equivalent.
- Memory: installed system RAM against the stated minimum and recommended amounts.
- Graphics: exact GPU model and VRAM against the listing.
- DirectX: required version, when specified.
- Storage: required disk space and available room on the installation drive.
- Other listed needs: for example, network requirements if the game page includes them.
Steam’s ELDEN RING requirements include operating system, CPU, RAM, GPU and VRAM, DirectX 12, and storage. DARK SOULS III lists operating system, CPU, RAM, GPU, DirectX 11, network, and storage. The differing fields and values are why you should compare against the exact game rather than another Soulslike’s specs.

Check which GPU the game will use
A laptop or desktop can have both integrated graphics and a separate graphics card. Make sure you have identified the GPU the game is expected to use; checking the wrong adapter can produce a misleading comparison. Capcom notes that laptops and systems with integrated and discrete GPUs may need configuration or GPU selection, and that hardware combinations can affect whether a game works correctly. Its support article discusses these configuration issues.
Likewise, a label such as “NVIDIA graphics” is not enough to establish compatibility. Match the full model name and VRAM against the game’s listed requirement. If you cannot tell which adapter will run the game, check the PC or GPU manufacturer’s instructions for selecting the high-performance adapter.

Decide whether to download
- All listed minimums are met: the demo is a reasonable candidate to try, though performance is not guaranteed.
- Minimums are met but recommended specs are not: consider whether you are comfortable trying lower graphics settings; that may help, but cannot promise a particular frame rate.
- A minimum is missed or uncertain: verify the hardware model and consult support for that specific game before assuming it will run. A vague GPU name or an unclear laptop graphics setup is not enough to call it compatible.
Published requirements are targets, not a compatibility test for every hardware combination. Bandai Namco and Capcom both caution that operation or performance may be affected when a PC is below minimum requirements, and Capcom notes that some configurations may not function correctly.
