There are two different checks. To see whether an update can be installed now, open Settings > System > System updates. For a future major release such as Nothing OS 5.0, first identify the exact phone model, then compare it with Nothing’s official release schedule. A model can be scheduled for a release while the over-the-air (OTA) package is still unavailable on a particular handset because Nothing uses phased regional and carrier rollouts.
Nothing recommends Wi‑Fi and at least 50% battery for downloading and installing an update. The instructions below separate immediate availability, announced model support, and Open Beta access so that a “no update available” message is not mistaken for a permanent support decision.

What “eligible” means on a Nothing phone
Eligibility is commonly used for two separate situations:
PC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute- Available-now eligibility: an update package is currently offered to your handset through the phone’s update screen.
- Release eligibility: Nothing has included your exact model in the support or rollout plan for a named major version, such as Nothing OS 5.0.
These answers can differ. A supported model may show no package today because its rollout window has not started in your region, the rollout is still staged, or a carrier release has not been enabled. Conversely, a phone that is not listed for a major release should not be expected to receive that release merely because another Nothing model has started receiving it.

Nothing’s general support guidance says that when no new version appears, the phone has the latest version currently available to it. That statement describes the result of the present check; it does not confirm future major-version support. For a named release, use the manufacturer’s release page and the model-specific schedule.
Check for an update that is available now
Use the System updates screen
- Connect the phone to a reliable Wi‑Fi network.
- Charge the phone to at least 50%. This is Nothing’s recommendation for a smooth download and installation, not a claim that every update is technically blocked below that level.
- Open Settings.
- Tap System, then System updates.
- Allow the phone to check. If an update is offered, review the version information and follow the on-screen download and installation prompts.
- Keep the phone connected to power or ensure it remains above the recommended battery level while the installation completes. Do not interrupt a restart or installation screen.
Nothing identifies Settings > System > System updates as the place to check for and install an available update. Menu wording can vary by software build. If you do not see the exact labels, use the Settings search field for “System update” or “updates.”

Nothing also documents a separate manual availability route:
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone.
- Open Software info.
- Look at the Nothing OS entry and any update indicator shown there.
According to Nothing, an update notification may arrive automatically, and a red icon appears next to the Nothing OS label when a new update is available. This page is useful for checking the current software status and notification, while the System updates screen is the documented place to perform the check and installation.

Identify the exact model before checking a major release
Read the model name on the phone
- Open Settings > About phone.
- Record the complete model name shown there, including its number and any suffix such as Pro, Plus, Lite, or CMF.
- Record the installed Nothing OS version from the software-information area. A release page may require a particular stable build before a beta or staged package can appear.
Do not use “Nothing Phone” as the eligibility identifier. Numbered generations and variants are separate entries in Nothing’s schedules. “Phone (3a)” and “Phone (3a) Pro,” for example, can have different rollout windows. CMF models are also listed separately from numbered Nothing Phone models.

Software labels can differ between builds, so the wording on your About phone page may not exactly match the path above. The goal is to capture the manufacturer’s full model designation, not a nickname used in a shop listing or case description.
Check the release page for the exact model
- Open Nothing’s official page for the named release. For Nothing OS 5.0, use Nothing’s Nothing OS 5.0 release page.
- Find the rollout schedule or support notes on that page.
- Match the complete model name from About phone to an entry in the schedule.
- Note the indicated window and any prerequisite instructions.
- When the window begins, return to Settings > System > System updates and check again.
Being listed means the model is included in the announced rollout plan. It is not a promise that the OTA has reached every handset on the first day of that window.
Nothing OS 5.0 model eligibility and rollout windows
The following is the model-specific information shown on Nothing’s US Nothing OS 5.0 page at the time of review. The page says the timings are indicative and subject to change, and that general release rollout is phased by region and carrier where applicable. Treat every window as a planning estimate rather than an appointment for your individual phone.
| Model | Indicated Nothing OS 5.0 window | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Phone (3) | From October 12 | General release begins from the listed date, subject to phased delivery. |
| Phone (4a) Pro | Early November | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| Phone (4a) | Early November | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| Phone (3a) Pro | Early November | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| Phone (3a) | Early November | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| Phone (2a) | Mid November | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| Phone (2a) Plus | Mid November | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| Phone (3a) Lite | Late December | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| Phone (4b) | Mid January | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| CMF Phone 2 Pro | Mid January | Included in the announced schedule; exact handset arrival can vary. |
| Phone (1) | Not included | Nothing says the model has reached the end of major software support and will not receive Nothing OS 5.0. |
| Phone (2) | Not included | Nothing says the model has reached the end of major software support and will not receive Nothing OS 5.0. |
| CMF Phone 1 | Not included | Nothing says the model has reached the end of major software support and will not receive Nothing OS 5.0. |
The dates above are the page’s indicated windows, not independently verified arrival dates for every country, carrier, or software channel. If your model is listed but the update is absent, that result is consistent with a phased rollout and does not by itself show that the phone was removed from the plan. If your exact model is not listed, do not infer support from a similarly named device; consult Nothing Support for clarification.

Why a listed model may still show “no update available”
Phased regional or carrier delivery
Nothing explicitly says the Nothing OS 5.0 general release is phased by region and carrier where applicable. A release can therefore begin on the published date while reaching different countries, network partners, or batches of devices at different times.
The schedule is indicative
Nothing labels the timing indicative and subject to change. A window such as “Early November” identifies an intended period, not a guaranteed day. Recheck the System updates screen after the window starts rather than repeatedly forcing a download.
Stable and beta channels are different
A phone’s appearance on the stable-release schedule does not prove that Open Beta enrollment is currently available. Beta access has its own device schedule and prerequisites.
The model or variant was misidentified
Comparing a Phone (3a) schedule entry with a Phone (3a) Pro, Lite, or CMF model can produce the wrong conclusion. Return to Settings > About phone and copy the complete name before comparing it with the release page.
How to check Open Beta eligibility separately
Open Beta is pre-release software and must be evaluated separately from stable OTA support. Nothing’s OS 5.0 guidance requires the phone to be on the latest stable Nothing OS build before joining. The release page provides a model-by-model required-build table; use the value shown for your exact model rather than assuming that any recent build is sufficient.
- Confirm the exact model in Settings > About phone.
- Install the latest stable build offered through Settings > System > System updates.
- On the Nothing OS 5.0 page, compare your installed build with the required stable build for that model.
- Follow the enrollment instructions on the official page only if your model’s beta window is open.
- After joining, allow up to five minutes for the beta to appear, as Nothing notes that delay.
Nothing warns that beta software can affect stability, battery life, or performance and recommends backing up important data before installation. Its rollback process erases data. Do not enroll a primary phone merely because a stable rollout is scheduled, and do not treat a beta listing as evidence that the stable OTA is ready.
What to do when the check finds no update
If your model is not on the named release page
Do not install an unofficial package or rely on another model’s file. A missing model entry means the official page does not establish eligibility for that release. Contact Nothing Support with the exact model, region, current Nothing OS version, and the release you are asking about.
If your model is listed but the window has not started
There is no action that makes an announced future rollout arrive early. Keep the phone on its normal stable software, use Wi‑Fi and adequate battery, and check System updates when the listed period begins.
If the window has started but the OTA is still absent
- Verify the model again in About phone, including Pro, Plus, Lite, or CMF wording.
- Check that the phone is connected to the internet and has sufficient free storage for the package and installation process.
- Open Settings > System > System updates and run the check again.
- Allow for regional or carrier staging; Nothing does not promise simultaneous delivery.
- Check Nothing’s official release page for a changed timing notice.
- If the rollout window has passed substantially for your region, contact Nothing Support rather than guessing or using a package intended for another model.
If the update download or installation fails
- Return to a stable Wi‑Fi connection and charge the phone to at least 50%, following Nothing’s recommendation.
- Retry from the System updates screen after the phone has completed any pending restart.
- Do not interrupt an installation that is already applying or rebooting.
- Record any error text, the current OS build, the model name, and the region before contacting support.
These steps distinguish a delivery problem from an eligibility problem. A failed download does not prove that the model is unsupported, and a successful check with no package does not prove that a future release is excluded.
A quick decision path
| What you see | What it establishes | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| An update is offered in System updates | An OTA is available to this handset through the current channel. | Use Wi‑Fi, reach at least 50% battery, and install from that screen. |
| No update is offered; your model is listed for the named release | No package is available through this check right now; future support remains possible or scheduled. | Check the rollout window, region, carrier, and exact model, then recheck later. |
| No update is offered; your model is not listed | The official release page does not establish eligibility for that release. | Ask Nothing Support instead of substituting a similar model or unofficial file. |
| Stable release is listed, but beta enrollment is unavailable | Stable and beta schedules or prerequisites do not currently align. | Use the beta page’s required-build and timing instructions separately. |
| A red icon appears beside Nothing OS in Software info | Nothing says a new software update notification is available. | Open System updates to review and install it. |
When to contact Nothing Support
Contact Nothing Support when the exact model is unclear, the official release page does not mention your device, the listed rollout window has passed for your region, or an installation repeatedly fails after you have followed the on-device instructions. Include:
- the full model name from Settings > About phone;
- the installed Nothing OS version and build;
- your country or region and, where relevant, mobile carrier;
- whether you are checking stable OTA or Open Beta eligibility;
- the date and wording of any error or notification.
This information lets support distinguish a staged rollout from an unsupported model or a build prerequisite. Nothing’s official update pages remain the authoritative source for release-specific eligibility and timing.
