To find out whether a SEBI action affects your investment, identify the actual SEBI order, check which people, securities, dates and directions it covers, then compare those details with your own holdings and transactions. A headline or the existence of a market-wide mechanism does not by itself establish that your account is affected.
Here, “CAS” means the Closing Auction Session, a mechanism in the equity cash segment. It is different from a Consolidated Account Statement—also called CAS—which can help you check your investments and transactions.

First, identify which “CAS” the action refers to
The initials have two relevant meanings for investors. SEBI’s Closing Auction Session framework concerns trading in the equity cash segment and is being applied in phases. The Consolidated Account Statement is an investor record covering transactions across mutual funds and other securities held in demat accounts. Use the latter to review your records; do not mistake it for the market mechanism or a regulatory order.
SEBI’s January 16, 2026 circular describes its Closing Auction Session framework: SEBI circular on introduction of the Closing Auction Session. Its phased application in the equity cash segment does not mean every investment category is necessarily covered.
How to check whether the order reaches your investment

Find the operative SEBI order
Locate the order on SEBI’s official records and note its date, reference, named persons or entities, securities, relevant period and operative directions. Read what the order actually directs—such as any restriction or other action—and whom or what it applies to. A news report may help identify an order, but the order’s wording determines its scope. The available reporting does not establish a complete affected-security list or the full scope of the interim order, so do not treat a list inferred from a headline as definitive.

Check your holdings and transactions
Review your Consolidated Account Statement along with your broker and depository records. Identify the securities you held or traded and the dates of those holdings or transactions. SEBI describes the statement as covering transactions across mutual funds and other securities held in demat accounts: SEBI investor information.

Compare the order with your records
Check each relevant point side by side:
- Named security or entity: Does the order identify the security, company, person or intermediary relevant to your investment?
- Dates: Do your holding or transaction dates overlap with the period addressed by the order?
- Your account evidence: Do your statements show that you held or transacted in the relevant security during that period?
- Actual consequence: Does the order direct a restriction or action that applies to you, your holding or your intermediary?
A match on a security name alone may not answer the question: the relevant dates and the order’s actual directions matter too.

Ask your broker or depository participant about your account
If the order may apply to your records, contact the broker, depository participant or other relevant intermediary. Include the order reference and the security and dates you are asking about; request a written explanation of any account-level restriction or impact. SEBI’s grievance guidance advises investors to approach the concerned company or intermediary first: SEBI guidance on investor grievances.

Escalate an unresolved eligible grievance
If the intermediary does not resolve the issue, you can use SCORES for eligible securities-market grievances involving entities such as listed companies, registered intermediaries and market infrastructure institutions: SEBI SCORES. What current reporting does—and does not—establish
As of October 7, 2026, current reporting refers to CAS as the Closing Auction Session and discusses SEBI’s consideration of proposals. One contemporaneous report said SEBI had received nearly 1.35 lakh comments on its CAS proposals; that figure is background to the policy consultation, not evidence that an individual investor’s holding is affected. The status and scope of any particular enforcement action can change. Verify the latest order and its operative directions on SEBI’s records before drawing a conclusion.
