How to Check Whether Your Address Qualifies for Louisiana BEAD Broadband Funding

By Freedom251 Team · · 11 min read

Check your exact home or business location on ConnectLA’s GUMBO 2.0 (BEAD) Broadband Need by Location map. Click the location and read its displayed details. A location’s inclusion in a deployment map is not, by itself, proof that internet service is available to order today or that your household will receive cash.

Use ConnectLA’s map to check the exact location

Louisiana’s official lookup is ConnectLA’s Broadband Need by Location map on its GUMBO 2.0 (BEAD) page. ConnectLA describes it this way: “The map below shows all broadband serviceable locations in Louisiana. Click on a location to view more details.” The map is intended to show locations associated with broadband deployment, not to make a household income determination.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

“Your address” means the particular service location you want to check—not just the road, neighborhood, ZIP code, or parish where it is situated. A home or business can be close to another marked location without sharing its status. The important result is the detail attached to the point you select, so treat the map at the location level rather than as a shaded-area promise.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the GUMBO 2.0 page. Go to connect.la.gov/bead and find the section labeled Broadband Need by Location. Use the official ConnectLA page rather than relying on a reposted map image or a summary of statewide projects.
  2. Find the home or business itself. Use the map to locate the building or service location, rather than relying only on a street name, ZIP code, parish boundary, or nearby marker. If you are checking a business, select its service location rather than assuming a nearby residence has the same record.
  3. Select the map location. ConnectLA says clicking a location displays more details. Read the information attached to the selected point instead of treating the surrounding map area as one status. If several points are close together, be careful to select the point for the address you mean to check.
  4. Save the details you need to follow up. If the map displays a location code or other identifier, note it along with the full street address. The identifier can help when asking ConnectLA about the record. Keep a note of what the map displayed and when you checked it, especially if you will be contacting the agency.
  5. Check current retail availability separately. If the map indicates planned or funded deployment, ask internet providers whether they currently accept new subscribers at that exact address. A provider’s availability check is the relevant next step for ordering service.

No exact address was provided here, and the map’s live, per-location data is dynamic. The result for a particular home or business can only be established by checking that point on the current map and reading its details. A general description of GUMBO 2.0 or a project announcement cannot supply that address-level result.

If the point is difficult to identify or the displayed information is unclear, do not guess based on the nearest marker. Recheck the address and map position, record any identifier shown, and ask ConnectLA how that location appears in current eligible-location or deployment records. The state’s current contact information is on ConnectLA’s site.

What “qualifies” means in this lookup

In this context, “qualifies” is shorthand for whether a location appears in Louisiana’s BEAD/GUMBO 2.0 location or deployment records. It does not mean that a resident has been approved for a cash benefit, and it is not a means-tested household grant application. ConnectLA describes GUMBO 2.0 as a broadband expansion program and the map as showing broadband serviceable locations.

It helps to separate three questions that can sound similar in a headline or conversation. First, does the location appear in the state’s program or deployment records? Second, what is the construction status for the funded work associated with it? Third, can a retail internet provider take a new customer at that address now? A positive answer to one does not establish a positive answer to the others.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For example, a location could appear in a deployment record while the network work is still planned or underway. Even completed construction does not, on its own, tell you whether a provider’s retail service is open for orders at that particular address. Ask ConnectLA about the location record or project status; ask a provider about current address-level availability and the process for ordering service.

Question What establishes it What to do
Is this location in the state’s deployment records? The selected location’s current details on ConnectLA’s Broadband Need by Location map. Check the exact map point and contact ConnectLA if it is missing or unclear.
Has construction started or finished? Current project or location information from ConnectLA; a general announcement may describe only a specific project. Ask ConnectLA about the record and project status for the location. Do not infer completion from a planned deployment listing.
Can I order service at this address now? The provider’s current address-level availability and installation confirmation. Check with the provider directly. A map listing alone does not establish that retail service is live.
Will my household receive money? The cited ConnectLA program information describes infrastructure deployment, not a household cash payment. Do not interpret location inclusion as a personal payment or grant award.

“Qualifies” can therefore be useful shorthand for the map lookup, but it should not be read as a guarantee of a particular service date, an installation appointment, or a personal grant. If your practical question is whether you can get connected now, the provider’s answer is essential even if the state map shows a location in the program.

What to do if your address is missing or unclear

A missing marker is not enough to conclude that a location automatically qualifies, that it will never receive internet, or that a household can submit a particular appeal. ConnectLA’s resident FAQ explicitly raises the question, “What happens if my address isn’t listed as receiving service? Will I ever get internet?” The accessible FAQ page lists the question, but its answer should be checked on the live page or confirmed with ConnectLA before relying on a specific policy.

  1. Verify the address and point. Check the street number, street name, unit or building details, and map position. Make sure you selected the intended home or business rather than a nearby location. Avoid substituting a neighbor’s result, even if the properties are close together.
  2. Look for a location identifier. If ConnectLA’s map or location data displays a code, include it in your notes. The state’s Resource Library lists eligible-location data and location codes among its materials.
  3. Contact ConnectLA using the current details on its site. Ask whether the location appears in current eligible-location or deployment records and what follow-up route applies if the address is absent or the displayed information seems wrong. Give the complete address and any location code. Be specific about whether you are asking about the map record, project status, or where to get guidance on a discrepancy.
  4. Check the answer against current official materials. The Resource Library lists program guidance and BEAD challenge materials. Use the latest official version, and do not assume that a provider-facing challenge document is a household appeal form.
  5. Keep the retail question separate. Even while clarifying the state record, contact providers if your immediate question is whether you can order service. The map is not a substitute for an address-level service check.

When you contact the agency, a concise question helps keep the follow-up focused: “Does this exact address or location code appear in current eligible-location or deployment records? If not, what is the appropriate next step for checking the record?” This is a request for guidance, not an assumption that a particular correction or appeal process is available. ConnectLA’s current response and instructions should determine what to do next.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

ConnectLA’s FAQ page also asks whether residents must use the provider that received funding for their area and what happens if they want a different option. The question wording alone does not establish a definitive provider-choice policy. Check ConnectLA’s current answer or ask the agency directly before treating the funded provider as the only option or assuming another provider can serve the address.

The Resource Library is useful for checking official materials, not for inferring that every listed file is intended for residents. ConnectLA lists eligible-location data, location codes, challenge files, approved proposal materials, and program guidance. Those materials can help explain program records and procedures, but a file’s presence does not prove that an individual household has a challenge form or a particular deadline. Confirm the document’s purpose and audience before taking action based on it.

How to interpret statewide announcements

Statewide funding totals and project announcements explain the scale of Louisiana’s broadband effort, but they cannot tell you whether a particular address appears on the map. For example, ConnectLA said in an August 6, 2026 announcement that $1.36 billion in federal funding was moving through GUMBO 2.0. That is statewide program context, not money available to an individual household.

Likewise, ConnectLA’s June 11, 2026 agreement announcement described a Starlink project intended to deliver access to 10,635 locations across more than 50 parishes. That figure applies to the specified project, not every address in those parishes and not every qualifying location statewide. A parish-level headline, construction notice, or provider agreement is not a substitute for checking the exact location.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These figures answer “How large is the statewide effort?” and “What locations does this announced project cover?” They do not answer “Is my address in the deployment record?” or “Can I sign up today?” The location map and an address-level provider check are still needed for those questions.

ConnectLA’s Louisiana BEAD Final Proposal, dated January 9, 2025, is an official program document. For an address-level question, however, use the current map and location data rather than treating a proposal or broad program document as a determination for an individual property.

ConnectLA’s GUMBO 2.0 page also quotes U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick: “In Louisiana alone, we’ve saved more than $800 million and delivered better economic results, all while advancing the same standards. We’re delivering for the state of Louisiana and all American taxpayers.” That is an agency-page quotation about the program; it is not an independently established household benefit or an answer to whether a particular address is listed. It should not be used to calculate an individual’s funding or expected service.

Which source to use for each question

  • Location status: Start with the GUMBO 2.0 map, select the exact point, and read its current detail.
  • Missing or confusing map entry: Use ConnectLA’s current contact information on its site and ask about the location’s record and next steps. The FAQ is useful for identifying resident questions, but confirm the live answer rather than relying on the question alone.
  • Location data, codes, and program documents: Consult the Resource Library and check that any file or guidance is current. Confirm whether a challenge document is provider-facing or otherwise directed to your situation before treating it as an application or appeal path.
  • Whether service can be ordered today: Ask providers to check the exact address. A program listing or announcement does not confirm live retail availability, installation timing, price, or service terms.

For questions involving both the state record and an internet order, make two checks: one with ConnectLA about the location’s program status and one with the provider about current service. Neither answer should be used as a substitute for the other. If the provider says service is not available, that does not itself explain the location’s state program record; if ConnectLA confirms a location is in program records, that does not confirm a provider is taking orders yet.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using a neighbor’s result as yours. Nearby properties can be distinct serviceable locations. Select your own map point.
  • Treating an entire parish as eligible. A project covering locations in a parish does not establish that all addresses there are included.
  • Reading “listed” as “connected.” Program inclusion does not establish that construction is complete or that a provider is accepting customers.
  • Expecting a personal check or automatic household grant. The map is a location and deployment lookup, not evidence of an individual cash award.
  • Assuming the funded provider is your only choice—or that any provider can serve you. ConnectLA’s FAQ raises provider choice, but verify the current policy; then check each provider’s actual availability at your address.
  • Submitting a challenge form without confirming its audience. The Resource Library includes challenge materials, but their presence does not establish a resident-facing correction or appeal process.
  • Inferring an answer from old or broad information. The map and resource files may change. Use current location details for the address-level decision.
  • Confusing a provider’s coverage claim with a state map result. A provider’s current availability tool answers a retail-service question, while ConnectLA’s map addresses the program location record. Check both when both questions matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check whether my Louisiana address qualifies for BEAD broadband funding?

Open ConnectLA’s GUMBO 2.0 (BEAD) page, go to Broadband Need by Location, find the exact home or business location, click it, and read the displayed details. ConnectLA says the map shows broadband serviceable locations and that clicking a location displays more information. For an unclear or missing location, contact ConnectLA using the current contact information on its site.

What if my address is not listed? Will I ever get internet?

A missing point alone does not establish that the address automatically qualifies or will never receive service. ConnectLA’s resident FAQ asks this question, but check the live FAQ or contact ConnectLA for its current answer and the correct next step for your address. You can also ask providers separately whether they currently offer service at the exact location.

Does a map listing mean I can order internet now?

No. A location’s inclusion in program or deployment records is not the same as completed construction or current retail availability. Ask the provider to check your exact address and confirm whether it accepts subscribers and can arrange service.

Will my household receive money if the location is listed?

The ConnectLA material describes GUMBO 2.0 as broadband expansion and the map as a location lookup; it does not establish a household cash payment. Do not treat a map listing or statewide funding announcement as a personal grant award.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do I have to use the provider that received BEAD funding for my area?

ConnectLA’s resident FAQ raises provider choice, but the question wording alone does not establish the policy. Check ConnectLA’s current FAQ answer or ask the agency. Then ask any provider you are considering to confirm availability at your exact address.

Can I use a BEAD challenge file to appeal a missing address?

Do not assume so. ConnectLA’s Resource Library lists BEAD challenge materials and location data, but their presence does not establish a household appeal or correction process. Check the latest official guidance and ask ConnectLA what follow-up route applies to your location.

Does a Starlink project covering my parish mean my address is included?

Not necessarily. ConnectLA’s June 11, 2026 announcement described a Starlink project intended to deliver access to 10,635 locations across more than 50 parishes. That project figure does not mean every address in those parishes is included. Check your exact point on ConnectLA’s map.

The Bottom Line

Use ConnectLA’s current GUMBO 2.0 Broadband Need by Location map to check the exact address, then click the location and read its details. If the address is missing or unclear, ask ConnectLA about the current location record and next step; do not assume a household appeal route. If you want service now, ask providers to check that exact address. A map listing, a statewide funding total, and a retail service order are different things.
