Check two things: whether the GPU rendering your game supports DLSS 5, and whether the game itself has integrated it. NVIDIA lists DLSS 5’s 3D-Guided Neural Rendering for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, including RTX 50 Series laptop GPUs. As of October 3, 2026, NBA 2K27 is the released game NVIDIA documents with DLSS 5. A card or game that supports “DLSS” generally may support other DLSS features—not DLSS 5.
Check the exact DLSS feature in NVIDIA’s GPU compatibility table
DLSS is a family of technologies, not a single compatibility switch. NVIDIA’s DLSS Technology page separates 3D-Guided Neural Rendering from Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA. For DLSS 5, look specifically for the 3D-Guided Neural Rendering entry.

Use the table as a feature-by-feature check: seeing another DLSS feature listed for your card does not establish DLSS 5 support. NVIDIA’s compatibility information can change, so check the live matrix for the current status.
Check whether your game has integrated DLSS 5
GPU support alone is not enough. DLSS 5 is integrated into a game, and the game’s developer controls its implementation. Check the game’s official feature information or NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 announcements for that specific title rather than relying on a general “DLSS supported” label.

As of October 3, 2026, NVIDIA identifies NBA 2K27 as the DLSS 5 launch title and documents it as available. That is the confirmed released game identified in NVIDIA’s materials; it is not a claim that no other game will add DLSS 5. NVIDIA’s March 2026 announcement discussed a developer evaluation of Starfield, but that announcement is not evidence that the game had released DLSS 5.
Enable DLSS 5 in NBA 2K27
NVIDIA’s launch instructions for NBA 2K27 specify the following. Other games may use different menu labels or controls.

- Install the current Game Ready Driver. NVIDIA’s September 3, 2026 launch guide directed players to the September 3 driver, available from NVIDIA’s site or the NVIDIA app.
- Launch NBA 2K27 and open Video Settings.
- Turn on DLSS Neural Rendering. NVIDIA describes DLSS 5 as optional.
- Use the in-game F9 toggle to switch DLSS 5 on or off during gameplay or replays, as described in NVIDIA’s launch article.
If the named setting is missing, first confirm that you are playing the supported game, using a supported RTX 50 Series GPU for local rendering, and have installed the appropriate driver. The setting’s absence in another game does not by itself indicate a GPU problem; the title must implement DLSS 5.

NVIDIA describes DLSS 5 as a real-time neural rendering model that uses game color and motion-vector inputs to add lighting and material detail grounded in the game’s source 3D content. NVIDIA says developers can control intensity, color grading, and masking. These are NVIDIA’s product descriptions, not independent benchmark findings.

DLSS 5 is not another name for upscaling or frame generation. NVIDIA’s FAQ says it can work alongside ray tracing or path tracing, Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction, and that players can turn it off.
Can you use DLSS 5 without an RTX 50 Series card?
For local play, NVIDIA’s current compatibility information lists RTX 50 Series hardware for DLSS 5. NVIDIA also documents a cloud option: GeForce NOW Ultimate members in NVIDIA-operated regions can stream NBA 2K27 using a cloud session powered by an RTX 5080 rig. Availability depends on the service’s supported regions and session conditions; the cloud GPU, rather than your local graphics card, renders the game.
