Sony’s published conditions focus on the applicant and the Sony account used to apply—including Japan registration, My Sony ID unification, Japanese residence, and at least 60 hours of signed-in PS4 and/or PS5 game play in a specified period. Owning a used console alone does not prove that the account meets the play-time requirement.
Does a used PS5 Pro count for the lottery?
Sony’s current campaign terms do not require applicants to own a new PS5 Pro, identify the console as new or used, or submit its serial number as an eligibility check. They also do not say that having a used PS5 Pro makes an account eligible. The stated test is based on the applicant and the account used to apply, so do not treat the console’s used status as a substitute for meeting those account conditions.

Check the account and applicant requirements
- Use the account you intend to apply with. It must be a Sony account registered in Japan and used for PlayStation online services.
- Check My Sony ID unification. The applying Sony account’s sign-in ID must be unified with a My Sony ID. Sony says My Sony IDs first registered on or after January 19, 2022 are already unified. If yours was registered earlier, or you do not have a My Sony ID, follow the unification guidance linked from the campaign page. After a successful sign-in check, Sony displays whether unification is complete.
- Verify the qualifying game time on that same account. It must have at least 60 total hours of PS5 and/or PS4 game play while signed in between September 27, 2024 and September 27, 2026 at 23:59. Hours across both consoles can count toward the total; play time on another account is not the stated criterion.
- Confirm the applicant lives in Japan. The campaign requires Japanese residence, and delivery is within Japan only.
- Check your contact details and accept the terms. Use an accessible email address registered to the account for the result notice. Sony advises allowing mail from
@email.playstation.comand warns that carrier and iCloud addresses may not receive messages reliably.
Application and purchase dates
As of October 4, 2026, the campaign page lists these dates and conditions. Because they are time-sensitive, check the official page again before applying.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Keep lottery eligibility separate from used-console checks
Eligibility and the condition of a used PS5 Pro are separate questions. Sony’s PlayStation buying guide says third-party-used PlayStation products may not be covered by warranty. It recommends checking the seller’s reputation and confirming that the item works, including its ports, buttons, and connectivity.
Sony’s Japan after-service terms say a PS5 or PS5 Pro warranty-service request requires a purchase document showing the purchase date, store, and product name. That documentation concerns warranty service; it is not listed as a lottery eligibility requirement.
