Find that variant’s official band list, compare LTE bands with your carrier’s LTE bands and 5G NR bands with its 5G NR bands, then ask the carrier whether it accepts and can provision the device. A shared band shows potential radio overlap; it does not guarantee coverage, approval, or working calls and data.
What you need to establish
A compatibility check has two parts: whether the phone’s radio hardware supports bands used by the local network, and whether the carrier can provide service to that exact phone in the place you intend to use it. One does not prove the other. A phone may list a band that the carrier uses but still lack usable coverage at a particular address, be unapproved by the carrier, or need an eligible SIM, plan, or configuration.

Transsion is an umbrella company, not a single radio specification. Infinix, TECNO, and itel devices have model-specific specifications, and a model sold in one region may not have the same band list as a similarly named model sold elsewhere. The reliable comparison is therefore between your phone’s exact model and region and your carrier’s current local network information.
Think of the check as a sequence: identify the unit, confirm its published radio bands, establish what the operator uses where you need service, compare the same generation and band numbers, and then verify that the carrier can activate the device. Skipping the model or region check can make every later comparison misleading. Skipping carrier verification can leave you with a technically plausible band match but no confirmed service.

Step 1: identify the exact phone and variant
- On the phone, open Settings > About phone and record the model number exactly as displayed.
- Compare that number with the label on the original packaging and the model identifier on the manufacturer’s official product or regional support page.
- Record the sales region or market for the handset, if known. A product page for a different country is not enough to confirm your variant’s specification.
Do not rely on a retail family name alone. For example, an official Infinix SMART 20 page for Ukraine identifies model X6840B. That identifier is part of what makes the specification meaningful: the page’s band list should not be assumed to describe every SMART 20 sold in other markets. If the phone, packaging, and official page do not agree, ask the manufacturer or seller to identify the exact variant before comparing bands.
It is useful to keep the model number and region together in your notes. The number narrows down which device page to consult; the region helps distinguish a market-specific listing from another version with a similar name. If you bought the phone used, imported it, or no longer have the box, begin with About phone and ask the seller or manufacturer to clarify any ambiguity. A store listing or a family name by itself is not a substitute for the model identifier.
Step 2: find and record the official band list
Use the manufacturer’s official page for the exact model and, where possible, the region in which the device was sold. Find the Network or Connectivity specification and copy the listed bands under their stated radio-generation headings. Keep the labels as published:

- 2G bands are listed separately from later generations.
- 3G bands are not substitutes for LTE or 5G bands.
- 4G/LTE bands must be compared with the carrier’s LTE bands.
- 5G NR bands must be compared with the carrier’s 5G NR bands.
Preserve suffixes and other qualifiers, too. For instance, a listing of B28A and B28B is more specific than simply writing B28. Do not turn an LTE band number into a 5G claim, or infer support for one generation from support for another. If the regional page does not show the generation or band you need, treat that support as unconfirmed rather than filling in the gap from another phone in the same family.
Manufacturer pages can also warn that connectivity and bandwidth availability vary by region or local service provider. Treat the page as the specification for the model and market it identifies, not as a universal statement about all units with a similar name. If there are several official pages or conflicting lists, ask the manufacturer which one applies to the model number in your phone.
Record the bands as separate lists rather than copying a combined string with no labels. For example, if a page shows 4G bands and later gives a separate 5G NR list, keep those headings in your notes. This makes it harder to mistake a band appearing under one technology for support under another. It also makes it easier for the carrier to answer a precise question about the service you need.
Use the official product or support page as the starting point, especially when a third-party page gives a different list. A specification for another regional version can be useful as a clue that variants differ, but it cannot resolve which bands are in your handset. When the official information for your exact identifier is incomplete or unclear, leave the point unresolved and ask the manufacturer rather than assuming support.

Step 3: get the carrier’s information for your location
Contact the operator you plan to use and ask which network technologies and bands it uses where you will use the phone. Check current coverage for the relevant town, neighborhood, or address as well; a carrier’s national band list alone cannot tell you whether service reaches a particular location. The official itel Philippines FAQ advises users to contact the local operator and check LTE coverage, and to ask which network types and bands it supports.
When asking, give the carrier your exact model number and sales region, and ask for information specific to your intended location and service. Useful questions include:
- Which LTE bands are used in the places where I need service?
- Which 5G NR bands are used there, if I need 5G?
- Does the carrier accept and provision this exact model and regional variant?
- Are there SIM, plan, or device-configuration requirements for calls, texts, and mobile data?
- Is this particular version carrier-customized or restricted in a way that affects use on your network?
If the carrier cannot identify a band for a specific address, ask what coverage information it can confirm and whether it can verify the device before you rely on it. Do not treat a general statement that a phone is “compatible” as a substitute for checking the exact variant and the services you need.
Coverage and band information answer different questions. A published list can tell you that an operator uses a band, while its coverage information helps establish whether it serves the location where you expect to use the phone. If you travel between places, ask about the areas that matter rather than treating a country-wide or city-wide answer as a guarantee at every address. Carrier coverage and device requirements can also change, so use current operator information rather than relying only on an old answer or a previous owner’s experience.
If you need both calls and data, say so explicitly when you contact support. Ask the carrier to check the exact service you want to use, not only whether the handset can see a network. The operator is the party that can confirm its approval and provisioning requirements for its own service; the phone’s band list cannot answer those account and network questions.
Step 4: compare like with like
Make a simple comparison for the network generation you plan to use. Match LTE to LTE and 5G NR to 5G NR; do not combine the lists into a single set. Mark a band as shared only when the number appears in both the phone’s exact official specification and the carrier’s information for your location.
| Check | Phone information | Carrier information | What the comparison tells you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exact device and region | Model number and sales-region specification | Whether this exact version is accepted | Whether you are comparing the right handset, and whether carrier approval remains to be confirmed |
| LTE | Official 4G/LTE band list | LTE bands and coverage where you will use the phone | Whether the published lists show potential LTE band overlap |
| 5G | Official 5G NR band list, if one is published | 5G NR bands and local coverage | Whether the published lists show potential 5G overlap; LTE support does not establish 5G support |
| Service setup | Variant configuration and any stated restrictions | SIM, plan, provisioning, and device requirements | Whether the service can be activated and configured, beyond radio-band overlap |
A shared band is evidence that the handset and carrier may have a radio band in common. It is not proof of a connection at your address or of successful voice, text, and data service. Conversely, a list with no apparent shared band is a reason to seek confirmation from the manufacturer and carrier before depending on the phone, especially if the available specifications or carrier information are incomplete.

For a careful comparison, make a short worksheet with one row for each technology you care about. Put the phone’s published bands in one column and the carrier’s bands for the relevant location in another. Mark only exact matches within the same generation. Keep a separate note for coverage and a separate note for carrier acceptance; neither should be collapsed into the band-match result.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do not turn the comparison into a universal pass/fail score. The pages reviewed do not provide a carrier-independent compatibility guarantee or a universal Transsion checker, and a band overlap is only one part of a service decision. If the operator’s answer, a product page, or the model identifier is incomplete, the honest result is “not confirmed” until the manufacturer or carrier resolves it.
Examples: why the model and region matter
These official regional pages illustrate how band lists are presented. They are examples for the named models and pages only, not compatibility claims for every device made by Transsion or for any particular carrier.
| Official product page | Published bands | How to use the example |
|---|---|---|
| Infinix HOT 40, Colombia regional page | 2G: B2/B3/B5/B8 3G: B1/B2/B4/B5/B8 4G: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28A/B28B/B38/B40/B41 (120M) |
Compare this listing only if it matches the handset variant under consideration. The page warns that bandwidth availability and connectivity can vary by region and local service provider. |
| TECNO PHANTOM V Fold, Pakistan page | 2G: B2/B3/B5/B8 3G: B1/B2/B4/B5/B8 4G: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28/B66/B38/B40/B41 5G NR: n1/n3/n5/n7/n8/n20/n28/n66/n71/n38/n40/n41/n77/n78/n79 |
This illustrates why LTE and 5G NR need separate comparisons. The listed bands apply to the page’s named model and market; they do not establish what another regional version supports. |
The lists above cannot establish whether either example phone will work on your own carrier: that requires your exact handset variant, your operator’s bands and coverage at the intended location, and the carrier’s device requirements. Likewise, finding a different regional page with a similar product name does not resolve a conflict; verify which specification corresponds to the phone’s model number.
The examples also show why a long list is not a verdict by itself. The HOT 40 Colombia listing includes separate 2G, 3G, and 4G entries, while the PHANTOM V Fold Pakistan page also provides a distinct 5G NR list. That is a useful format to copy when making your own notes, not a basis for assuming that another Infinix, TECNO, or itel model shares those radios. The HOT 40 page’s B28A/B28B notation and its regional-provider warning are reminders to keep the published qualifiers intact.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →A third official example is the Infinix SMART 20 Ukraine page, which identifies model X6840B and publishes 2G, 3G, and 4G bands. That page is relevant to the identified regional listing, not necessarily to every phone sold under the SMART 20 name. Across all three examples, the safe comparison unit is the actual model and market, not the brand or product family.
Step 5: verify approval, SIM, plan, and configuration
Before relying on a positive band comparison, have the carrier check the model and variant. Ask whether the device is accepted on its network and whether it needs to be registered or provisioned. Confirm that your SIM and plan are eligible for the service you want, and ask whether any configuration or carrier customization affects use. These checks matter especially for imported phones and carrier-customized versions.

Band support and network acceptance are separate checks. The specification describes the radio bands published for a handset variant; it does not state that a particular operator has approved that handset or can provision it on a particular account. Similarly, an active SIM and plan do not establish that the phone supports the local bands. Ask the operator to confirm each part rather than treating one affirmative answer as confirmation of everything.
If you are checking a phone before buying or travelling, seek confirmation before the point at which you cannot return it or arrange another device. Keep the model number, the relevant official specification, and the carrier’s answer together. If support staff give only a family name or a broad “works with our network” answer, ask them to check the exact model number and the specific service—LTE or 5G NR—you intend to use.
If the phone does not connect, troubleshoot before blaming the bands
A failed connection does not by itself prove a band mismatch. The official itel support guidance identifies other possible checks for 4G access, including local LTE coverage, carrier-customized phones, SIM and plan status, and network settings.
- Confirm local coverage. Check the operator’s current information for the place where the phone is failing. A band match elsewhere does not establish coverage there.
- Check the SIM and plan. Ask the carrier whether the SIM is active and eligible for the network service you are trying to use.
- Review the phone’s network settings. Confirm that the relevant network type is enabled or selected. The precise settings labels can vary by model and software version, so use the handset’s own settings and manufacturer support rather than assuming a universal menu path.
- Ask about a customized variant. Check whether the carrier or sales-region version has restrictions or setup requirements that could affect service.
- Recheck the model specification. Make sure the page used for comparison applies to the model number and region of your actual phone, and that the missing service is not a different radio generation from the one you compared.
- Have the carrier test the device status. Ask whether it can see, accept, and provision the exact handset and whether anything remains to be enabled on the account or SIM.
For a concrete yes-or-no assessment, the essential details are the phone’s exact model number and sales region, the country and local area where it will be used, the operator, and whether you need LTE, 5G, or another network generation. Without those details, the published examples can explain the method but cannot establish an individual compatibility verdict.
When troubleshooting, change one question at a time: whether there is local coverage, whether the SIM and plan are active, whether the correct network type is enabled, and whether the carrier accepts and provisions the exact model. This keeps a settings or account issue from being mistaken for proof that the hardware lacks a band. If the carrier confirms those points but cannot confirm the model’s radio support, return to the exact official specification or contact the manufacturer.
What an IMEI check can—and cannot—tell you
IMEI authenticity checking is a different task from network-band matching. The official itel Nigeria IMEI check page states that its current function supports cell-phone authenticity queries. That does not make it proof that a phone supports a carrier’s local bands, has local coverage, or will be accepted and provisioned by an operator. Use the model-specific specification and carrier confirmation for those questions.
Use an IMEI tool only for the purpose it says it supports. An authenticity result cannot fill in a missing regional specification, identify local operator bands, or guarantee that calls and data will work. If you need to check compatibility, the relevant evidence remains the exact model and variant, the operator’s current information, and its confirmation about service requirements.
Best Value
Keep the result current
Manufacturer specifications are regional, and carrier coverage and device requirements can change. Recheck the official product or support page for the exact model and ask the operator for current information before making a purchase or depending on the phone in a new location. The official pages reviewed do not provide a universal Transsion compatibility checker or a guarantee that a handset will work on every carrier.
If you are comparing replacement phones after a confirmed mismatch, apply the same checks to the replacement’s exact regional variant before buying. A retailer’s description should clearly identify the model version; then verify it against the manufacturer’s page and the operator’s requirements. No replacement can be recommended from the brand name alone, because the right choice depends on the country, carrier, coverage location, and services you need.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check if my Transsion phone supports my local network bands?
Record the exact model number from Settings > About phone, identify the handset’s sales region, and find the matching official Infinix, TECNO, or itel specification. Compare its LTE bands with the carrier’s LTE bands and its 5G NR bands with the carrier’s 5G NR bands for your location. Then ask the operator whether it accepts and can provision that exact variant.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIs the phone’s brand or family name enough to check compatibility?
No. A model family can have different regional variants and radio lists. Use the phone’s exact model number and the official page for the relevant market; a similarly named model page from another country may not describe your handset.
If my phone and carrier share a band, will the phone work?
Not necessarily. A shared band indicates potential radio overlap, but does not confirm coverage at a particular address, carrier approval, provisioning, an eligible SIM or plan, or working voice and data service. Check those points with the carrier.
Do LTE bands also show whether 5G will work?
No. Compare 4G/LTE bands only with the operator’s LTE information, and 5G NR bands only with its 5G NR information. Support for one generation does not establish support for another.
Can an IMEI check prove local band compatibility?
No. The official itel Nigeria IMEI check page says its current function supports phone authenticity queries. Use the exact model’s official specification and the operator’s current band, coverage, and device-approval information for compatibility.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Does a connection failure mean the phone lacks the right bands?
No. First check local coverage, SIM and plan status, network settings, carrier customization, and whether the operator can accept and provision the exact model. A failed connection alone does not identify the cause.
What information should I give my carrier?
Give the operator the exact model number, handset sales region, the area where you plan to use it, and whether you need LTE, 5G NR, or another generation. Ask about local bands and coverage as well as device acceptance, provisioning, SIM, plan, and configuration requirements.
The Bottom Line
Check the exact model and regional variant against its official, generation-labeled band list; compare it with current local carrier bands and coverage; then confirm approval, SIM, plan, and provisioning with the operator. A band match is useful evidence of potential overlap—not a guarantee of service.
