The controlling evidence is your executed Order Form, the Main Services Agreement it incorporates, amendments or renewals, and the Salesforce product terms that applied on your order or subscription start date. Use those records to compare the old and current product identity, quantity, dates, price, features, and any usage-based billing. If the names do not line up, obtain written confirmation from Salesforce rather than inferring a contractual change from the label.
What a Salesforce rename can—and cannot—change
A product label appears in many places: an Order Form, Salesforce setup screens, an account dashboard, invoices, release notes, legal notices, and sales communications. Those labels are useful for identifying a service, but they do not all have the same contractual authority. Your signed or accepted Order Form normally identifies what you bought, in what quantity, for which price, and for which term. The Main Services Agreement supplies the general legal terms, while product-specific terms add rules for the particular service.

Keep these questions separate when reviewing a rename:
| Question | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Did the name change? | The old label on the Order Form, invoice, account, or interface and the current label in Salesforce documentation | A display or marketing change may leave the contracted service unchanged. |
| Did the service change? | Included features, integrations, limits, environments, support level, and other entitlements | A new name can accompany a new service, a migration, or a change in scope. |
| Did the commercial deal change? | Quantity, seats, price, payment basis, credits, usage metric, and billing schedule | Commercial changes require account-specific evidence; a renamed label is not evidence by itself. |
| Did the term change? | Order start, end, renewal, termination, and amendment dates | A renewal or amendment can change obligations even when the product name stays similar. |
The practical rule is simple: treat the rename as an identification issue first, then test every contractual and billing field that could affect you.

The records that control your subscription
Collect the documents before comparing names. Save the complete version of each record, including attachments, exhibits, product schedules, and any electronic acceptance page.
- Executed Order Form: Salesforce describes this document as specifying the purchased products and services, quantities, and prices. It may also list start and end dates, payment terms, add-ons, or special conditions.
- Main Services Agreement: This is the agreement incorporated by the Order Form and contains the general terms governing the relationship. Record its version or effective date.
- Product-specific terms: Locate the terms applicable to the ordered service, including licensing, acceptable use, data handling, support, and usage rules.
- Amendments and renewal orders: A later document can replace a product, change a quantity, alter a price, or extend a term. Do not rely only on the first order you signed.
- Account and billing records: Download invoices, subscription summaries, license assignments, consumption reports, and the product names shown in Your Account. These records help identify discrepancies but do not automatically override the signed order.
- Implementation and migration notices: Keep notices that describe a rename, retirement, feature migration, or required action. They can explain operational behavior even when the contract remains governed by older terms.
Create a dated folder for the review. Preserve the original file names and export dates so you can show which version you used if the account display changes later.
Step-by-step: verify whether the rename affects your deal
1. Start with the latest binding order
Find the most recent executed Order Form or renewal order that covers the subscription in question. Write down the exact product description, quantity, price, currency, billing frequency, order start date, order end date, renewal language, and any reference to an amendment or product schedule. If the order contains a product code as well as a friendly name, record both.
Next, identify the Main Services Agreement version incorporated by that order. A current agreement posted on Salesforce’s website is not automatically the agreement that governs an older order. The order’s incorporation language and effective date determine which general terms apply.
2. Use the Product Terms Directory with the correct date
Salesforce’s Product Terms Directory provides a date selector. Select the Order Start Date or subscription start date shown on the governing order, then search for the product name exactly as it appears in your records. Salesforce states that product terms in effect on that start date generally apply for the duration of the Order Term or subscription term, subject to an exception for terms added for new functionality.

The directory also warns that product names are sometimes updated and that a product may be listed with or without an “LP” suffix. Therefore, an exact-name search that returns no result is a prompt to investigate, not proof that the product was removed from your contract. Save the dated directory page or PDF used for your comparison.
3. Build an old-to-current name map
Make a two-column record with the label in your order or invoice on one side and the current Salesforce label on the other. Add the document and date where each label appears. Then look for an explicit Salesforce statement connecting the names. A release note, legal notice, or account message that says one product is formerly known as another is stronger evidence than a similar-sounding name in a sales presentation.

Do not select the entry that merely sounds closest. Ask Salesforce to identify the exact mapping for your order.
4. Compare every field that could affect your subscription
Use the same comparison axes across the Order Form, account or billing display, and dated product terms. A spreadsheet prevents a label change from hiding a commercial change.
| Comparison axis | Order or amendment | Current account or billing record | Product terms and questions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Service identity | Exact product name, code, edition, and description | Current name, edition, and any former-name note | Does Salesforce expressly map the old and new names? |
| Quantity | Seats, licenses, instances, or other purchased quantity | Assigned and available quantity | Are inactive, trial, or overage units counted differently? |
| Price and payment basis | Unit price, total price, currency, billing frequency, and discounts | Invoice amount and billing schedule | Is any charge fixed, metered, prepaid, or usage-based? |
| Dates | Start, end, renewal, and termination dates | Subscription status and next invoice or renewal date | Which terms were in effect at the start date? |
| Entitlements | Features, limits, support, environments, and add-ons | Features enabled and limits displayed | Have any capabilities moved to another edition or add-on? |
| Consumption | Credits, units, overage rules, and measurement period | Usage dashboard and consumption invoices | What event or unit creates a charge, and who can change the rate? |
Mark each row as “matches,” “different but explained,” or “unresolved.” A difference is a reason to seek clarification; it is not, on its own, proof that Salesforce unilaterally changed the contract.

5. Check Your Account and billing data
Open Your Account and the billing area associated with the legal entity that signed the order. Confirm that the current product, quantity, renewal date, and invoice line items correspond to the order. Check whether the account contains separate production, sandbox, trial, or departmental subscriptions; a rename may appear in one environment before another.
For a financially material review, reconcile at least one invoice before and after the rename. Record invoice numbers and billing periods. A changed description with the same quantity and amount may be a harmless display update, while a changed amount, unit, or billing period requires an explanation.
6. Examine licenses, features, and usage metrics
Names can conceal a change in how access is granted. Compare the license type, number of assigned users, feature entitlements, API or integration limits, environments, and support level. For AI services, also compare the consumption unit: for example, credits, actions, requests, or another metered event. Verify whether the order includes a fixed allowance and what happens after it is exhausted.
7. Request a written answer when records disagree
When Salesforce records use different names or show a changed amount, contact the designated Account Executive or Salesforce Support. Ask for an answer tied to your account and order number, not a general explanation of the product family. Request confirmation of each item below:
- Whether the old and current labels identify the same contracted service.
- Whether the service scope, features, limits, integrations, or support entitlements changed.
- Whether the purchased quantity or assigned license type changed.
- Whether the price, discount, payment schedule, currency, or billing unit changed.
- Whether consumption credits, usage measurement, overage treatment, or rates changed.
- Whether the order, renewal, or termination dates changed.
- Which Main Services Agreement and product-terms version governs the order.
Keep the response with the Order Form and dated terms. If the answer is verbal, send a follow-up email summarizing what you understood and ask the representative to correct it in writing.

8. Escalate a material dispute
If the written explanation conflicts with the Order Form or an invoice, ask for a contract-management or billing review. State the exact line, date, and amount in dispute, attach the relevant documents, and request a correction or formal interpretation. Avoid approving a renewal or paying an unexpected usage invoice while the issue remains undocumented; follow your organization’s legal and procurement process for disputed charges.
What Salesforce has said about the Einstein Copilot to Agentforce rename
Salesforce’s Winter ’25 release notes state, “Einstein Copilot for Salesforce is Now Agentforce.” They describe the change as a rename of the Einstein Copilot for Salesforce agent type to Agentforce “with no changes in functionality” and say, “This change won’t impact your implementations.” Those statements address that documented rename. They do not establish the price, quantity, term, or entitlements in an individual customer’s Order Form, and they should not be generalized to a different Salesforce AI product.
Salesforce legal notices also identify Agentforce for Flow as “formerly, Einstein for Flow.” A former-name note helps you connect terminology across documents, but the notice is a list of covered services and features, not a replacement for your account-specific order.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to review Agentforce licensing and consumption
Salesforce says Agentforce requirements vary by use case and agent type, including the add-on licenses a project may need. It describes Agentforce as consumption-based and directs customers to pricing information, their contract, or their Account Executive for billing details. Consequently, do not assume that a public price, a per-user figure, or another customer’s allowance applies to your subscription.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor an Agentforce review, add these checks to the comparison spreadsheet:
Best Value
- Identify the exact Agentforce agent type and any former product name shown on the order.
- List every required base license and add-on license, including which users or environments may use them.
- Record the consumption unit, included allowance, measurement period, and overage or replenishment rule stated in your contract.
- Compare the usage dashboard with the invoice for the same period and investigate unexplained rounding, aggregation, or timing differences.
- Ask whether a feature introduced after your order is covered as new functionality under the applicable product terms or requires a new order.
If your order predates the Agentforce name, the dated product terms and any amendment still control the interpretation. A current Agentforce screen can identify the service operationally, but it does not by itself rewrite the commercial terms.
How to interpret common mismatch patterns
| Observed mismatch | Likely possibilities | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Only the display name changed; quantity, invoice amount, and dates match | Administrative or product-label update | Save the release note or account notice and obtain a written name mapping if the order is hard to identify. |
| New name and new feature list, but no price change | Functionality update, edition change, or migration with unchanged price | Compare entitlements and limits; confirm whether the change is covered by existing terms. |
| Product name and quantity changed on a renewal order | Commercial renewal, replacement product, or negotiated amendment | Treat the renewal order as a new contractual event and compare it with the expiring order. |
| Invoice amount increased while the label changed | Renewal uplift, added licenses, usage charges, tax, or billing error | Reconcile unit price, quantity, usage, taxes, and payment terms; request a line-by-line explanation. |
| Directory search returns no exact name | Name update, “LP” listing, retired product, or wrong order-date selection | Retry with the order start date and former-name variants, then ask Your Account or the Account Executive to validate the mapping. |
| Account shows a product not present on the order | Separate subscription, trial, migration, or provisioning error | Check all orders for the legal entity and request written confirmation of the source order. |
Renewals, amendments, and new functionality
A rename is easiest to evaluate when nothing else changed. Renewals and amendments make the analysis more difficult because they can introduce a new product, quantity, price, or term at the same time. Read the document hierarchy and effective dates carefully:
- Determine which order is active for the period in dispute.
- Check whether a renewal order superseded the prior order or merely extended it.
- Read any amendment for replacement language, revised pricing, or changed product schedules.
- Apply the Product Terms Directory date rule to the relevant order or subscription start date.
- Identify any terms added for new functionality and confirm how they interact with the existing order.
Do not treat a feature announcement as a price amendment, and do not treat a price change on a renewal as proof that the prior rename itself caused it. Separate the events by date and document.

A concise message to send Salesforce
You can use this structure without relying on an informal product description:
Subject: Written confirmation requested for product-name mapping and contract terms
State your legal entity, account identifier, Order Form number, order start date, and the old and current labels. Then ask:
Please confirm whether [old label] on Order Form [number] is the same contracted service as [current label]. Please also confirm, for this order, whether the rename changed the service scope, features or limits, quantity or license type, price or discount, billing unit or consumption metric, renewal or termination date, or applicable product terms. If any item changed, identify the effective date and the document authorizing the change.
Ask the representative to answer each item separately and retain the response with your contract records. This creates an auditable explanation instead of a name-only assumption.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Relying on a current webpage alone: A current product page may describe today’s service, while your order is governed by dated documents.
- Assuming “no functionality changes” means “no contract review needed”: The Winter ’25 statement concerns the documented Einstein Copilot for Salesforce rename; it does not answer your quantity, price, or billing questions.
- Comparing totals without units: A higher invoice can result from more seats, consumption, a different billing period, taxes, or an actual rate change. Compare the unit and basis.
- Ignoring “LP” listings: Salesforce specifically notes that directory names can include an “LP” suffix. Record the date and ask which listing applies.
- Confusing provisioning with entitlement: A feature visible in an interface may be enabled operationally without changing the purchased entitlement, or it may indicate a migration that needs documentation.
- Accepting a verbal mapping: Names can change again. Keep a written confirmation tied to the order number and effective date.
- Applying another customer’s price: Agentforce requirements and consumption charges vary by use case, agent type, contract, and account.
Decision checklist
Before concluding that a rename affected your subscription, confirm that you have answers to all of these questions:
- What exact Order Form and amendment govern the period?
- Which Main Services Agreement version does that order incorporate?
- What product terms were in effect on the order or subscription start date?
- Is there an explicit Salesforce mapping between the old and current names?
- Do quantity, license type, features, limits, support, and integrations match?
- Do price, currency, discount, billing frequency, and payment terms match?
- For consumption products, do the unit, allowance, measurement period, and overage rules match?
- Do start, end, renewal, and termination dates match?
- Does Your Account and the invoice agree with the governing documents?
- Has Salesforce confirmed any unresolved difference in writing?
If every field matches and Salesforce confirms the mapping, the evidence supports a label change rather than a change to your subscription. If any field does not match, classify the difference as a renewal, amendment, provisioning issue, usage charge, or unresolved contract question and pursue the corresponding document.
