Check the live Game Catalog on the console signed into the account you use. On PS5, open Games > PlayStation Plus > Benefits > Game Catalog. On PS4, open the function screen, choose PlayStation Plus, then Game Catalog. Search for the game there, and confirm that your membership tier and country or region are eligible. A game you downloaded in the past is not necessarily still available: catalog titles can have announced removal dates and can leave the service.
Use the console’s current catalog listing first
The catalog shown inside the PlayStation Plus hub is the most useful check for your account. It reflects the country or region selected for that account and the catalog available under its current plan. Public lists and old download records can be out of date, so use the live console listing before assuming a title is still included.

- From the Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Scroll to the Benefits tab.
- Select Game Catalog.
- Search or browse for the game’s exact title.
These are the menu labels given by PlayStation Support. The catalog page should show the games available through the service for the signed-in account. Open the game’s listing and look for the catalog action that lets you download or stream it, where streaming is offered for that title and plan.

What the result means
The title appears with a catalog action
If the game appears in the current Game Catalog and offers an eligible catalog action, the listing indicates that your account can access it through PlayStation Plus at that moment. Access still depends on being signed in to the intended account, using the correct regional account, and holding a plan that includes the Game Catalog.
The title does not appear
Absence from a search is a prompt to check the account, region, tier and spelling; it is not, by itself, proof of one specific problem. Catalog contents vary by time, plan and country or region. A game may have been removed, may be available only in another catalog, or may not be included for your account’s market.
The game is in your library but will not launch
A library entry can represent a previous catalog download, a monthly game you claimed, or a separately purchased game. Check the title’s current Game Catalog listing instead of treating the library entry as proof that the service still supplies it. If the game was a catalog title and has left the service, a previously installed copy can lose its entitlement.

Check that your membership tier includes the catalog
PlayStation Plus benefits are divided by tier. The relevant official US terminology is:

Essential does not provide the Game Catalog benefit described here. In territories where plan names differ, use the plan description displayed on your account and confirm that it explicitly includes Game Catalog access. Upgrading can provide access to games that are currently included; it cannot guarantee access to a title that has already left the service.
Where to verify the signed-in plan
- Open the PlayStation Plus hub on the console.
- Review the account’s membership or benefits information.
- Confirm that the tier shown is Extra, Premium, or the local equivalent that includes Game Catalog.
- Return to Game Catalog and search again after confirming the plan.
If more than one person uses the console, verify which PlayStation Network account is active. Entitlements are tied to the account and its membership, not simply to the console or to an old installation.
Make sure you are checking the right country or region
PlayStation says the console’s PS Plus hub provides the complete list for your country or region. Catalog licensing is regional, so the same game can appear for one account and not for another in a different market. A public webpage or a friend’s screenshot cannot settle availability for your account.

Catalog games and monthly games are different benefits
Confusing these benefits is a common reason a library entry appears to contradict the current catalog. Monthly games can be added to your game library and played while your PlayStation Plus membership remains active. Game Catalog and Classics Catalog titles are service selections that can be removed, even if you downloaded them earlier.

If a game was claimed as a monthly game, look for the monthly-game entitlement rather than assuming it must still be in Game Catalog. If it was only downloaded from Game Catalog, its continued availability must be checked in the live listing.
Check departure dates before troubleshooting a download
PlayStation publicizes removal dates for some Game Catalog and Classics Catalog games ahead of time. A game can therefore be visible in a notice or in a “leaving soon” area while it remains playable until the stated date. After that date, the catalog entitlement may stop working.
- Search the current Game Catalog listing.
- Look for a removal or end-date notice associated with the title.
- Compare that date with the date on which you are trying to play.
- If the date has passed, treat the title as no longer included unless you own it separately.
Downloading before a removal date does not convert a catalog license into permanent ownership. Installation status and service entitlement are separate.
What happens to DLC and add-ons
Associated downloadable content follows the service entitlement for the catalog game. PlayStation states that if membership expires or the game leaves the service, related DLC and add-ons also become unavailable through that entitlement. Access can return if you resubscribe or purchase the title, provided the relevant game and add-on licenses are valid.
Renewing membership does not promise that every game that departed will return to the catalog. It restores the membership benefit; it does not reverse a catalog publisher’s removal decision. If you bought the base game separately, check the add-on’s own purchase license and compatibility with that edition.
Troubleshoot a missing or locked game
1. Recheck the exact title
Search for the complete title and distinguish similarly named editions, remasters and region-specific versions. A listing for one edition does not establish that another edition is included.
2. Confirm the account
Sign out only if necessary, then sign in to the account that holds the PlayStation Plus membership. On a shared console, a different profile may show a different catalog result.
3. Confirm the tier
Verify Extra, Premium or the appropriate local equivalent. A lower tier can explain why a Game Catalog or Classics Catalog item is not available.

4. Confirm the region
Use the catalog displayed for the account’s country or region. Do not use another market’s list as evidence.
5. Check for a departure notice
If the game was previously installed, look for an announced end date. A locked icon after that date can be expected behavior rather than a failed download.
6. Separate catalog access from ownership
Determine whether you claimed the game as a monthly title or bought it separately. Those entitlements are different from a temporary Game Catalog license.

7. Contact PlayStation Support if the status still conflicts
Use PlayStation Support when the game appears in the regional catalog for your tier but the account still shows a lock, or when a purchase and a catalog entitlement seem to conflict. Include the console model, account region, membership tier, exact title and any displayed error code. Support can inspect the account entitlement; a general public list cannot.

Menu placement can change with system software updates, but the PlayStation Plus hub remains the authoritative place to check the current regional catalog. If labels differ slightly, look for the Benefits or Game Catalog area within that hub.
A reliable checklist before you decide a game is unavailable
- You searched the live Game Catalog on the console.
- You used the account that holds the membership.
- Your tier includes Game Catalog access.
- You checked the account’s country or region.
- You looked for an announced removal date.
- You identified whether the game was a catalog title, monthly game or purchase.
- You checked the base game and DLC entitlements separately.
Only after these checks should you conclude that the title is not currently available through your PS Plus catalog. If the evidence still conflicts, PlayStation Support is the appropriate next step.
Why an old download is not proof of current access
PlayStation Plus catalog access is a continuing service entitlement, not a permanent license created by downloading. The console can retain an icon and installed files after the catalog listing changes. When the entitlement is rechecked, the game may become locked because the membership expired, the title left the service, the account changed, or the regional catalog differs.
For that reason, the dependable test is always the current listing for the signed-in account, followed by a check of tier, region and departure notices. This method avoids mistaking a cached library entry or an old installation for a current catalog license.

How to interpret common screen states
A download button is available
A download option on the Game Catalog page is the clearest indication that the signed-in account and current plan can use that catalog entry. It is still a time-sensitive entitlement. Keep the title’s listing or any displayed end date in mind if you do not plan to play immediately.
The game is listed but asks you to upgrade
That usually means the title is visible in the wider PlayStation Plus experience but the active plan does not include the benefit required for that catalog. Check whether the game is in Game Catalog or Classics Catalog and compare that with the account’s tier. Extra includes Game Catalog; Premium includes both Game Catalog and Classics Catalog in the official US terminology.
The game page offers a purchase instead
A purchase price is not evidence that the title is currently included in your catalog. Check the Game Catalog listing, the membership tier and the region separately. Buying the game is an ownership decision, not a way to assume that every catalog title remains available.
The icon is locked after a membership lapse
Catalog access requires an active qualifying membership. If membership expired, the catalog entitlement can stop working, and associated DLC can also become unavailable through that entitlement. Resubscribing may restore access to eligible content, but it does not promise that a game removed from the catalog will return.
How to document the check for support
If the console’s result and the account’s behavior disagree, capture the exact title, edition, console, country or region, membership tier and any error message. Note whether the game was downloaded from Game Catalog, claimed as a monthly game or purchased separately. Then contact PlayStation Support. These details help distinguish a regional catalog difference, an expired membership, a departure from the service and a separate ownership license.
Do not rely on an old article, a third-party list or another player’s account as the final answer. PlayStation says catalog availability changes over time and that the console hub contains the complete list for the user’s country or region. The live listing is therefore the decisive check for an individual account.
When to buy the game instead
If a title has left Game Catalog and you want uninterrupted access, purchasing the game creates a separate ownership entitlement. That purchase is independent of whether the title later returns to PlayStation Plus. If you only renew membership, you receive the plan’s current benefits; you do not automatically regain every title that previously appeared in the catalog.

- If the game was claimed monthly or purchased, check that separate entitlement instead of the catalog.

This sequence separates a genuinely unavailable title from a wrong profile, an ineligible tier, a regional difference or an expired catalog license.
