To check whether a game is part of Xbox Free Play Days, open the latest Xbox Wire Free Play Days announcement and verify the game name, access terms, and event dates. On an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, find the collection at Xbox Store → Subscriptions → Free Play Days. Access can require a particular Game Pass membership, be open to all Xbox members, or be limited to a timed trial, so check each game’s listing before you install.
How to check the current Free Play Days lineup
- Open the official event archive. Go to the Xbox Wire Free Play Days archive and open its newest announcement. Confirm the exact title and the dates listed there; lineups change from event to event.
- Check the game’s Xbox.com page. Open the individual game listing and follow its Microsoft Store link. Sign in to see applicable install options. Xbox Wire says the eligible Game Pass install option appears after sign-in, but the game’s own listing is where to confirm its access terms.
- Read the eligibility and trial details. Note whether the game requires a named Game Pass tier, is available to all Xbox members, or is a timed trial. Do not assume that one title’s access rules apply to another.
- Confirm the end date and regional availability. Use the dates and qualifications in the current announcement and Store listing. Xbox Wire cautions that title availability and discounts can vary by title and region.
Where to find Free Play Days on an Xbox console
On Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, open the Xbox Store, select Subscriptions, then navigate to the Free Play Days collection. These are Xbox’s console instructions in its October 8, 2026 announcement.

What access means for each game
Free Play Days does not guarantee the same kind of access for every title. The October 8, 2026 Xbox Wire announcement illustrates the differences: Screamer and Family Man were available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members from October 8 through October 11; ARC Raiders was open to all Xbox members during those dates without those memberships; and High On Life 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Little Nightmares III, and Rogue Waters were listed as timed trials. The post specified a two-hour trial for Rogue Waters.

Those are examples from that dated event, not a permanent lineup or current eligibility promise. For any game, use the latest announcement and its Store listing to check the membership requirement, whether access is a timed trial, and the applicable dates.

What happens when the event ends
The October 8, 2026 announcement said players could buy a featured game at a limited-time discount and continue playing while keeping Gamerscore and achievements earned during the event. The same post warns that discounts, percentages, and title availability may vary by title and region. Check the individual listing for the terms that apply to you.
