A genuine Galaxy S25 Ultra is not necessarily factory-new: Samsung sells certified renewed S25 Ultra phones in some markets. No single public check in the available Samsung guidance proves that a specific phone has never been used. To assess a deal, get the condition and seller’s promises in writing, match the phone’s identifiers, verify local warranty and regional compatibility, and keep a practical route to return it.
What “genuine” and “new” mean
Authenticity and condition are separate questions. A genuine handset may be factory-new, open-box, used, or refurbished. Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed program includes the Galaxy S25 Ultra in selected markets, so an authentic Samsung phone can still be renewed rather than new. Samsung also notes that a renewed phone may retain slight external blemishes. Samsung’s program announcement explains the distinction.

For its Certified Re-Newed process, Samsung describes in-house inspection, cleaning, and more than 100 quality tests, with genuine Samsung parts used when components need replacement. Devices are reset and placed in new recyclable-material packaging. Samsung says renewed devices receive the same warranty as new Galaxy devices, but warranty terms vary by market. In France, Germany, and the UK, Samsung says renewed devices receive new IMEI numbers. As a result, a clean phone, fresh packaging, or new IMEI does not establish factory-new history. 1. Get the condition and seller terms in writing
Ask the seller to identify the phone as factory-new, open-box, returned, refurbished, or used—not just “new” in a listing headline. Keep the seller’s legal or business name, invoice or proof of purchase, return terms, and any warranty promise. A convincing box or matching identifier cannot verify that the seller’s condition claim is true.

2. Match the IMEI across the phone and paperwork
Samsung says an IMEI is 15 digits and can be displayed by dialing *#06#. Compare the number shown by the phone with the packaging and invoice or sales record. If the numbers differ, or you have another concern, ask Samsung support in the relevant country to check it. An IMEI match is a consistency check, not proof that a phone has never been used. Samsung US support explains where to find the IMEI.
3. Confirm warranty and service in your country
Ask Samsung support for the country where you will use the phone whether the specific model and its warranty are eligible for local service. Do not assume that a phone advertised as new comes with usable local manufacturer coverage. Samsung US warns that service for a smartphone bought in another country may be limited to its first-sale country; repairs may take longer or incur charges. Those are US support terms, not a universal warranty rule. Samsung US support sets out that qualification.

4. Check the exact regional model and network fit
Request the full model code and country of first sale, then confirm compatibility with Samsung or the carrier you intend to use. There is no universal region-code compatibility table established here, so do not infer network support from the S25 Ultra name alone. Ask about both carrier compatibility and warranty coverage for that exact model in your market.

Prefer a seller whose identity, return policy, and authorization status you can verify. Samsung Peru recommends buying from official stores or authorized distributors and discusses IMEI registration through Peru’s Renteseg system. That guidance is specific to Peru; elsewhere, consult the relevant country’s Samsung support and any applicable official device registry rather than assuming the same registry or process applies. 6. Inspect the phone when you receive it
If you can inspect it in person or upon delivery, record the unboxing, compare the phone with the listing, and check its displayed model and IMEI against the records. Look for signs of use or damage and document discrepancies promptly for the seller. Inspection can reveal a mismatch, but appearance alone cannot establish the phone’s use history.
Compare offers on more than price
Compare like with like: use the same storage tier and market, then weigh the condition, seller protections, regional model, warranty, and total price together. A low price by itself is not proof of fraud; the available sources do not establish a universal price cutoff for suspicious deals. Prices and seller terms also depend on the offer at the time you buy.

If the seller will not disclose condition, provide a sales record, or allow a reasonable return route, do not treat a successful identifier check as a substitute. The official guidance cited here does not establish a public Samsung check that proves a particular handset has never been activated or used. If that distinction matters, contact Samsung support in the market where you will use the phone and retain your return option until the listing, device, and seller’s written terms agree.
