Start by identifying which feature you mean: Phone Hub, app streaming from your phone, Android apps installed on the Chromebook, Smart Lock, or using your phone’s hotspot. Each has different requirements. For Phone Hub, open Settings > Connected devices on the Chromebook, select your Samsung phone, and check that Phone Hub and the specific feature toggles you want are enabled.
Which Chromebook feature are you trying to use?
“Android integration” can describe several separate capabilities. A Samsung phone may connect to a Chromebook for some Phone Hub features even when a different feature—such as streaming phone apps—does not meet Google’s listed device requirements.

- Phone Hub: Chromebook access to supported phone features such as notifications, recent photos, Chrome tabs, phone status, and quick commands.
- App streaming: Opening eligible apps from the phone on the Chromebook screen. This is distinct from installing Android apps directly on the Chromebook.
- Android apps on the Chromebook: Apps installed locally through Google Play on supported Chromebook models.
- Smart Lock: Using a nearby phone to help unlock the Chromebook.
- Phone hotspot: Connecting the Chromebook to the phone’s mobile-data connection.
Google’s Phone Hub help states that you can use features on your phone from your Chromebook screen with Phone Hub. The availability of individual features still depends on their own requirements.

How do I check and turn on Phone Hub?
- Check the versions. Google lists ChromeOS M89 or later for Phone Hub and Android 5.1 or later for the phone. These are Phone Hub requirements; Google’s separate general phone-connection guide lists ChromeOS 71 and Android 6 for connecting a phone generally.
- Turn on Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on both the Chromebook and Samsung phone.
- Open the Chromebook’s device settings. Select Settings > Connected devices, then choose the phone. If it is not set up yet, follow the on-screen connection steps.
- Enable the features you want. Turn on Phone Hub and check the individual toggles for the functions you plan to use. Connecting the phone does not automatically enable every feature.
- Check administrator restrictions. On a work or school Chromebook, an administrator may restrict phone features.
Can I use Samsung phone notifications, photos, tabs, and quick commands?
These are documented Phone Hub capabilities, subject to the Chromebook and phone requirements above and the relevant toggles being enabled. Check the Connected devices settings for the selected Samsung phone rather than assuming all Phone Hub features are active simply because the devices are connected.

Can I stream apps from my Samsung phone to a Chromebook?
Do not assume so based on general Android or Phone Hub compatibility. Google’s app-streaming help lists eligible examples including Pixel 4a or later, Nothing Phone (1) and (2), and select Xiaomi models running Android 13 or later. Samsung is not included in Google’s current listed devices. The list is not an exhaustive statement about every possible future implementation, so check Google’s current eligibility information for your particular phone.
For app streaming, Google also says to grant the phone access to notifications, photos and media, and apps. On the Chromebook, enable Notifications and Apps under Settings > Connected devices. The phone and Chromebook must be nearby and on the same Wi-Fi network; some public or private networks may not work. Google notes that Instant Tethering can help put the devices on the same local network in some cases.

Does my Chromebook support Android apps?
Android apps installed from Google Play are different from apps streamed from your phone. Google says the Play Store is available on only some Chromebook models. To check, open Chromebook Settings > Apps > Manage Google Play preferences. If that setting is missing, Google says the Chromebook does not support Android apps.

What does Smart Lock or hotspot use require?
Smart Lock
Google’s Smart Lock instructions specify that the phone and Chromebook use the same Google Account, the phone is unlocked, Bluetooth is on, and the phone has a screen lock. These requirements are separate from Phone Hub’s feature toggles.
Phone hotspot
To use the phone’s hotspot, select the network from the Chromebook’s network settings. Hotspot use can consume more phone battery or incur mobile-data charges, depending on your plan.

What should I try if Phone Hub will not connect?
If Phone Hub should be available but is not connecting, Google recommends clearing old Bluetooth pairings on both devices, checking that Bluetooth is on, toggling Bluetooth on the phone, and restarting the Chromebook. Then revisit Settings > Connected devices and check the selected phone’s settings.
