Use the official Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) Case Status page to look up an appeal by appeal number, filing date, assessee name, or acknowledgement number. If you instead need the progress of an e-filing submission—or need to manage documents after filing—use ITAT’s separate e-filing options.
Choose the right ITAT status route
| Route | Use it for | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Public Case Status | Looking up an appeal record | Bench and appeal type, plus one search key: appeal number, filing date, assessee name, or acknowledgement number |
| “Know Your e-Filing status” | Checking the e-filing submission’s status | PAN, email ID, and acknowledgement number, according to ITAT’s 2021 e-Filing FAQ |
| Appeal Dashboard | Viewing e-filing details, rectifying defects, or filing documents and petitions | Dashboard access; ITAT describes password and OTP/PVC login options |
The public case lookup, e-filing status check, and logged-in dashboard serve different purposes. A result in one should not be treated as a substitute for the other records.

Look up an appeal on the public Case Status page
- Open the official ITAT Case Status page.
- Choose the available search route: appeal number, date of filing, assessee name, or acknowledgement number.
- Enter the required bench and appeal type, then provide the relevant appeal or filing detail. For an appeal-number search, have the filing year available as well.
- Complete the CAPTCHA shown on the form and submit the search.
The page is the most direct route for a public appeal-record lookup. Keep the filing acknowledgement or other filing record nearby so you can enter the identifier and year accurately.

For e-filing submission progress
ITAT’s e-Filing FAQs, dated 24 June 2021, answer that an e-filer can select “Know Your e-Filing status” and submit the PAN number, email ID, and acknowledgement number. Because this instruction comes from a dated FAQ, check the live portal for the current menu wording and availability.
For filing details and follow-up actions
Use the Appeal Dashboard for e-filing details, defect rectification, or submitting documents and petitions. ITAT describes password and OTP/PVC login options. The dashboard is an account-level filing workspace, not simply another public search route.
If you cannot find the record
- Check that the bench and appeal type are correct and that the appeal number, filing year, date, name, or acknowledgement number matches the filing record.
- Try another available public search route if you have the corresponding detail.
- If the problem is a portal or upload issue, consult ITAT’s Help page and verify the listed support contact details on the live site.
- For a question about an e-filed appeal or application, ITAT’s 2021 FAQ directs users to the respective bench; bench email addresses are listed in that FAQ. Verify the current contact before sending case information.
The FAQ also lists [email protected] for technical problems with e-filing or uploading an enclosure. Contact information in the FAQ is dated, so confirm it on the current official site before relying on it.

The official pages identified here provide the lookup routes and filing tasks, but do not establish a glossary for individual status labels or a schedule for status updates. Do not infer a hearing date, next action, or processing time from an unfamiliar label without confirmation from ITAT or the relevant bench. ITAT’s frequently changing What’s New listings may help locate cause lists or pronouncement lists, but those listings do not replace a case-specific status search.
ITAT’s 2021 Standard Operating Procedure says a successful e-filing generates an acknowledgement. Treat that as background about the filing record, not as proof of the present portal interface.
