Use Starlink’s official Availability Map, enter the complete service address, and then open the local order flow. That sequence tells you whether service is available now, pending coverage or regulatory approval, capacity-limited, and which plans, prices, hardware options, or wait-list terms apply to that address. A country-level coverage claim is not proof that your particular home can be activated.
Start with the exact address, not a country map
Starlink availability is decided at the service location. Begin with Starlink’s official Availability Map and enter the full address where the dish will operate. Select the correct country or market when the site asks for it, then read the result shown for that location.

Starlink’s map is also the company’s route to local plans and pricing. A statement that Starlink serves more than 150 countries, territories and other markets (a company-reported footprint figure displayed on the map and checked October 13, 2026) describes broad reach; it does not establish that a particular street, building or parcel can be ordered.

Do not use a neighboring town, postal-code center, a broad regional color or a social-media claim as a substitute for your service address. Satellite visibility, network capacity, licensing and local rollout can differ inside the same region.

How to check service at your location
- Open the official Starlink Availability Map. Use Starlink’s own map rather than a reseller’s coverage graphic. If a country or market selector appears, choose the country in which the service address is located.
- Enter the complete service address. Include the street number, street name, locality, postal code and country. Use the address where the equipment will be installed, not a billing address in another country.
- Read the map status literally. Look for labels such as Available or Coming Soon, and note any wording that says coverage or regulatory approval is pending.
- Continue to the local order or plan flow. The resulting page is where Starlink shows the plan names currently offered at that address, local monthly charges, equipment choices, capacity conditions and any wait-list or deposit path.
- Record the terms before ordering. Save the displayed plan name, recurring charge, one-time hardware amount, data or priority terms, estimated timing and any eligibility notice. These details can change by market and over time.
- Check the installation site. Use the Starlink app’s site-assessment feature to identify a location with a clear view of the sky before buying or mounting equipment.
What each availability result means
Available
An Available result means Starlink is presenting that location as eligible to proceed through its current order flow. It is the strongest indication that you can place an order now, but you still need to inspect the local plan, capacity and installation conditions shown at checkout.
Coming Soon
Coming Soon indicates that Starlink expects service in the area but is not presenting it as immediately orderable. The map may provide an expected timing or an option to register interest; treat any timing as an estimate, not a guaranteed activation date.
Pending coverage or regulatory approval
Some locations are shown as awaiting coverage expansion or government authorization. A satellite may be physically visible over a region while commercial service remains unavailable because the required regulatory permission has not been granted. Do not interpret a pending label as permission to activate an imported kit.

Compare the plans Starlink actually offers locally
Starlink’s general plan categories help explain intended use, but the exact choices and prices are market-specific. Compare only the plans that appear after entering your address and country.
| Comparison point | What to look for in the local order flow | What Starlink’s general guidance establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Primary use | Whether the plan is intended for a fixed home address or portable travel use | Residential is positioned for households; Roam is positioned for travel and work on the go. |
| Eligibility at your address | Which plan names are selectable after the exact address is entered | Residential Lite is not offered in every area. A plan shown on a general information page may not appear for your location. |
| Monthly price and data terms | The local currency, recurring charge, included data or allowance, and any overage or priority terms | Prices and allowances vary by market and should not be copied from another country or an old page. |
| Mobility | Whether the plan permits travel, pausing, in-motion use or coastal use under the displayed conditions | Roam is travel-oriented, but mobility and geographic use are subject to country-specific rules and plan conditions. |
| Cross-border use | The countries in which the account may operate and any restrictions stated at checkout or in Help Center guidance | Roam availability is checked through country selection; regulatory restrictions can affect cross-border use. |
| Network capacity | Whether the address is capacity-limited and whether activation is restricted | Starlink says Standard and Priority plans cannot be activated in capacity-limited areas. |
| Installation suitability | Whether you can place the dish where the sky view is clear and the cable can reach the router or power source | Starlink requires an unobstructed view of the sky and recommends its app for site assessment. |
Residential
Residential is the fixed-location household category. Choose it when the equipment will remain at one registered home and your priority is ordinary home connectivity rather than moving the service between locations. Confirm the address displayed in the order flow, because the service location is part of the plan’s eligibility.
Residential Lite
Residential Lite may appear as a lower-tier residential choice in some markets, but Starlink states that it is not available everywhere. Its absence from your local results is an availability limitation, not an ordering error. Use the plans actually displayed for your address rather than assuming that a Lite option exists because it appears in information about another market.

Roam is the portable or travel-oriented category. To check it, use the country-specific order flow and select the country in which you intend to use the service. Starlink says that a country missing from the selector does not currently have Roam available. Even when Roam is listed, check the stated rules for cross-border operation, regulatory limits and any restrictions on in-motion or coastal use.
Why the local price is the only reliable price
There is no single worldwide Starlink monthly price. The amount shown can depend on country, currency, plan category, local taxes or fees, capacity conditions and whether the offer is a recurring plan or a temporary promotion. A price copied from another country, an archived page or a reseller is not evidence of what your address will pay.

When you reach the local order page, distinguish the recurring service charge from one-time equipment, shipping, taxes, deposits or installation costs. Check whether the displayed amount is promotional and how long it lasts. If the page offers a wait-list deposit, treat that payment as a place in the queue or an expression of interest unless the terms explicitly say otherwise; it is not proof that immediate activation is available.
Check country and account restrictions before activation
Country selection affects more than currency. It can determine whether a plan is offered, whether Roam appears, where the service may be used and whether local authorization applies.
Match the service location and registration country
Starlink recommends matching the site’s country with the account registration country. Before activating equipment obtained somewhere else, verify that the account country and the intended service address satisfy the current order conditions. An address in a different country can trigger eligibility, roaming or regulatory problems even if the hardware powers on.
Roam country availability
Open the Roam order flow and choose the relevant country. If the country is absent from the selector, Starlink says Roam is not currently available there. Do not infer availability from a neighboring country or from a general map footprint.
Cross-border and regulated use
Cross-border operation is not automatically permitted merely because the satellite signal reaches both countries. Starlink’s guidance notes country-specific restrictions and applicable rules. Read the conditions attached to the plan you select and check them again before taking the equipment across a border.
Capacity can block activation even where coverage exists
Coverage and capacity are different checks. A location can be inside a served area while the local network is capacity-limited. Starlink states that Standard or Priority plans cannot be activated in capacity-limited areas. The local order flow may therefore show a restriction, a different plan, a wait path or no immediate activation even when the map appears covered.
Recommended Free Tools
If you already own compatible equipment, do not assume that plugging it in will bypass the restriction. Confirm the account country, service address and plan eligibility first. If the page offers an estimated future date or a deposit option, keep the confirmation and review the terms rather than treating the equipment as ready for service.

Starlink’s official instruction is direct: “Starlink requires an unobstructed view of the sky.” Trees, roofs, chimneys, poles and nearby structures can interrupt the dish’s view and cause dropouts even when the address is serviceable.
- Install the Starlink app on a phone or tablet. Use the app’s site-assessment function at the property.
- Stand where you might mount the dish. Check the roof, pole, balcony, yard or other proposed location rather than testing only beside the router.
- Follow the app’s obstruction scan. Sweep the camera across the visible sky and note any areas it marks as blocked.
- Test more than one candidate location. A higher or more open position may be preferable, but it must also be structurally suitable and reachable with the supplied cable and power arrangement.
- Resolve obstructions before final mounting. A serviceable address does not compensate for a poor sky view; move the proposed mount or obtain qualified local mounting help if necessary.
The app’s assessment is a planning aid, not a guarantee of performance. Weather, construction changes and an incorrectly secured mount can still affect operation.

What to do when the map says your address is unavailable
Check the address format
Re-enter the address using the country’s normal postal format. Confirm the street number, unit or apartment detail and postal code. If the property has multiple entrances or lots, use the location where the dish will actually be installed.
Check the country selector
A country mismatch can hide plans or produce an inapplicable result. Set the country to the service location, especially when checking Roam or when you are ordering from outside the country.
Look for capacity or regulatory wording
Read the result and checkout notices for capacity limits, pending authorization, a wait-list instruction or a future-coverage message. These are different conditions and require different expectations; do not treat all of them as a temporary website error.
Try the local order flow, not only the map legend
The map is the first check, while the order page supplies the plan and activation conditions. Continue into the local flow whenever the map permits it, and save the exact message if an order cannot be completed.
Recheck later
Availability, capacity, plan names and prices can change as network expansion and local approvals progress. Revisit the official map and Help Center rather than relying on an old screenshot or a cached comparison page.

Buying equipment: confirm service first
The Starlink kit is the physical hardware needed for service, but the appropriate kit and purchase path depend on the local offer. Confirm that the address can be served and that the kit option shown in the official order flow is compatible before buying equipment from another channel. The official information reviewed here does not establish a particular marketplace listing or a universally compatible kit model.
If you already have equipment, use the local activation process to verify eligibility before permanently mounting it. A kit purchased for another country or account may be affected by country registration, capacity or regulatory conditions.
A practical decision checklist
- Exact service address entered into the official Availability Map.
- Country or market selector set to the installation country.
- Result read as Available, Coming Soon, pending approval or another stated status.
- Local order page opened to confirm current plan names and prices.
- Residential, Residential Lite (if offered) and Roam assessed against the intended use.
- Local currency, recurring charge, one-time hardware costs, taxes, deposits and promotional terms recorded.
- Cross-border, mobility and regulatory conditions checked for travel plans.
- Capacity warning checked, especially for Standard or Priority activation.
- Account registration country matched to the service location where required.
- Starlink app used to scan the proposed installation site for an unobstructed sky view.
How often should you recheck?
Recheck whenever you are ready to order, move the equipment, change plan category or travel across a border. Starlink’s availability, capacity, pricing, plan eligibility and regulatory conditions are not static. The official map and the local order flow are the current decision points; a general country claim or an old price cannot replace them.
