To check a NetScaler ADC or NetScaler Gateway for exposure, collect the appliance’s exact release and build, identify whether it is configured as a SAML service provider (SP), identity provider (IdP), or both, and compare those facts with each applicable Citrix security bulletin. Search the saved configuration for add authentication samlAction and add authentication samlIdPProfile, but treat a match only as evidence that a vendor-stated precondition exists. It does not, by itself, prove exploitability or compromise.
Version, edition, SAML role, and Gateway or AAA settings must be checked separately for every CVE. Standard, FIPS, and NDcPP branches have different thresholds, so a generic “SAML enabled” label is not an adequate assessment.

What an exposure check can—and cannot—tell you
The current NetScaler SAML advisories describe conditions under which particular releases and configurations are affected. Your result should therefore be recorded as one of three outcomes:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Matches the vendor’s stated preconditions: the release, edition, role, and any Gateway or AAA requirements line up with an affected range in the bulletin.
- Does not match the stated preconditions: the appliance is outside the listed release or role conditions for that advisory.
- Cannot be determined: the build, edition, configuration, or required virtual-server setting has not been verified.
None of these configuration checks is a forensic finding. A matching SAML profile does not establish that an attacker exploited the appliance, and a non-matching result for one CVE does not clear the system for other advisories. If an appliance matches an affected condition, the safe response is to follow the current vendor bulletin and update the appropriate supported branch.

1. Record the appliance identity before searching the configuration
Start with an inventory record for each ADC or Gateway node. Capture the product name, exact installed release and build, and the security edition. Keep the following distinctions intact:
- Product: NetScaler ADC or NetScaler Gateway.
- Release and build: record the complete version string, including every numeric component and suffix.
- Edition: standard, FIPS, or NDcPP.
- Role in the deployment: whether the appliance terminates SAML as an SP, publishes an IdP, or performs both roles.
- Topology details: whether Gateway or AAA services and authentication or VPN virtual servers are involved, because some advisories require those conditions in addition to SAML.
Do not normalize a FIPS or NDcPP build into the equivalent standard-build number. The bulletins define separate thresholds, and comparing an edition against the wrong branch can produce a false “not affected” result.
Use the version shown on the appliance itself or in the vendor’s inventory output, rather than a download filename, maintenance ticket, or the version of a different node. If the output contains a build suffix such as “FIPS,” preserve it. A release family such as 14.1 identifies only the branch; it does not tell you whether the installed build is before or after a security fix.

2. Find the SAML roles in the saved configuration
Use a saved or exported NetScaler configuration, not an assumption based on product marketing or an old design document. Search the configuration text for the exact command patterns named by the advisories.
Service-provider check
Search for add authentication samlAction. This identifies SAML action objects used for service-provider behavior. Record every matching object and the virtual server or authentication policy that references it. An object that remains in the file but is not bound to an active policy still deserves review: document its status rather than silently treating the string as proof of live traffic.
Identity-provider check
Search for add authentication samlIdPProfile. This identifies SAML identity-provider profiles. Record whether an IdP profile is active, which authentication flow uses it, and whether it is associated with a Gateway or AAA virtual server. Note disabled, obsolete, or migration profiles separately, because role-specific bulletin language may still require a precise comparison with the appliance configuration.
Preserve the evidence
Save the configuration snapshot, the date and time it was collected, the node name, and the exact search results. In a high-availability pair or cluster, repeat the check on every node and retain the build string for each one. A configuration copied from one node should not be treated as proof that all peers have the same release or role.
The two search strings are lead indicators for comparing the appliance with a bulletin. They are not a replacement for reading the advisory’s precise version and role conditions. If an automated export redacts authentication objects, obtain an approved unredacted review copy or have an administrator validate the relevant lines through the management interface.
3. Compare each advisory on the same six axes
Use a separate row or worksheet for every CVE. The following table consolidates the currently cited Citrix/Cloud Software Group conditions. “Fixed build” means the bulletin’s stated remediation threshold; verify the live bulletin for later supported builds before changing production systems.

The six comparison axes are CVE and impact, exact product release and build, required SAML role, special Gateway or AAA conditions, standard versus FIPS/NDcPP branch, and the vendor’s fixed build. Omitting any one of these can change the result. The CVSS values are the advisories’ severity scores. They do not estimate how many appliances are vulnerable, and no prevalence statistic is established in the cited bulletin material.
4. Apply the CVE-2026-107406 rules carefully
The October 8, 2026 Citrix bulletin for CVE-2026-107406 is not a single “SAML enabled or disabled” test. It distinguishes between IdP-only configurations and appliances configured as either SP or IdP. The bulletin identifies SAML IdP-only affected ranges including 14.1-73.37 through 14.1-73.41 and 13.1-64.23 through 13.1-64.28. It also lists broader earlier ranges when either SAML role is present.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →That distinction matters when an appliance contains an IdP profile but no SP action, or an SP action but no IdP profile. Match the role shown in your saved configuration to the role column in the bulletin; do not apply an IdP-only range to an SP deployment or combine a range from one role with a threshold from another. If both patterns are present, evaluate the appliance against the “either SP or IdP” condition as well as any IdP-specific wording.
For remediation, the bulletin lists these fixed thresholds:
- Standard 14.1: 14.1-73.46 and later.
- Standard 13.1: 13.1-64.29 and later.
- 14.1 FIPS: 14.1-73.46 FIPS and later.
- 13.1 FIPS/NDcPP: 13.1-37.283 and later.
A build below the listed threshold is not made safe merely because it is a newer-looking maintenance release from a different branch. Conversely, do not reject a supported fixed build because its numbering does not resemble the standard branch. Cloud Software Group states: “Cloud Software Group strongly urges affected customers of NetScaler ADC and NetScaler Gateway to install the following updated versions as soon as possible:” Treat that instruction as a remediation priority, while still validating that the selected build is supported for your edition and deployment.
5. Apply the CVE-2026-88779 rules independently
The October 3, 2026 bulletin for CVE-2026-88779 states a SAML SP or IdP precondition and describes a memory-overflow denial-of-service risk. Unlike a test limited to one SAML role, this advisory requires you to treat either add authentication samlAction or add authentication samlIdPProfile as relevant evidence.
The listed fixed builds are 14.1-73.41 for the standard 14.1 branch, 13.1-64.28 for standard 13.1, 14.1-73.41 FIPS for 14.1 FIPS, and 13.1-37.282 and later for 13.1 FIPS/NDcPP. Compare the exact branch and edition; do not infer that meeting the CVE-2026-107406 threshold automatically answers the CVE-2026-88779 question, or vice versa. An appliance can be above one advisory’s threshold while still requiring review under another advisory with a different role condition or fixed build.
6. Follow a repeatable exposure-check workflow
- Inventory every node. Record product, complete release/build, edition, node name, and whether the device is standalone, paired, or clustered.
- Export or open the saved configuration. Use the configuration copy that represents the node being assessed and preserve it for the change record.
- Search for the SP pattern. Locate
add authentication samlActionand list the objects and virtual servers that reference them. - Search for the IdP pattern. Locate
add authentication samlIdPProfileand document active references. - Check Gateway and AAA context. For advisories such as CVE-2026-19490, identify authentication or VPN virtual servers and the Gateway or AAA settings that the bulletin requires.
- Evaluate CVEs one at a time. For each row in the comparison table, compare release, build, SAML role, additional conditions, and edition-specific branch. Keep separate notes for each CVE.
- Classify the result. Mark the appliance as matching, not matching, or undetermined for that advisory. Explain which exact condition produced the classification.
- Plan remediation. If a result matches an affected range, select the vendor-listed fixed build for the same supported branch and schedule the update through your normal change process.
- Recheck after updating. Capture the new complete build string, repeat the role and Gateway/AAA checks, and attach the post-update record to the original assessment.
For a large estate, standardize the worksheet so that every administrator records the same fields. A script can locate the two command strings and populate a review queue, but a person must validate branch, edition, object status, virtual-server bindings, and the exact bulletin wording. Automated text matching should flag candidates, not make the final vulnerability determination.
7. Avoid the most common assessment errors
Using “SAML enabled” as the whole test
Different CVEs require different roles. CVE-2026-107406 has role-specific ranges, CVE-2026-88779 covers either SP or IdP, CVE-2026-19490 adds Gateway or AAA and virtual-server requirements, and CVE-2026-3055 identifies an IdP condition. A single SAML-enabled flag cannot represent those distinctions.

Comparing only the major release
“14.1” or “13.1” is insufficient. The affected and fixed thresholds are build-specific, and FIPS or NDcPP builds use separate numbering. Record the complete string exactly as displayed by the appliance.
Mixing conditions from different bulletins
Do not use a role requirement from one CVE with the version range of another. Keep one assessment line per CVE and quote the matching condition in your change record.
Checking only one node
High-availability peers and clustered nodes can be at different builds during maintenance. Assess each node and do not assume that a synchronized configuration means synchronized software.
Calling a configuration match a compromise
A match means that the vendor’s stated preconditions are present. It does not reveal whether exploitation occurred. If other evidence suggests intrusion, open a separate incident-response investigation rather than treating the configuration worksheet as a forensic conclusion.
Assuming an old configuration is current
SAML bindings can change during identity-provider migrations, Gateway redesigns, or emergency rollback. Date every export and compare it with the active node. If the configuration cannot be reconciled with the running appliance, classify the result as undetermined until an administrator verifies it.
8. Update and validation decisions
When an appliance matches an affected condition, use the fixed build for its actual branch and edition, confirm the build is currently supported, and follow your organization’s backup, HA sequencing, maintenance-window, and rollback procedures. The cited bulletins provide remediation thresholds but do not replace your operational change controls.
Before scheduling, confirm that the selected image is for NetScaler ADC or NetScaler Gateway as deployed, not for a different platform or edition. Review release notes and compatibility requirements, identify the order in which HA or clustered nodes will be updated, and define how service health and SAML authentication will be tested afterward. If a maintenance window cannot be arranged immediately, document the risk owner, interim monitoring, and target date rather than treating an unpatched device as resolved.
After the update, verify the complete installed build and repeat the configuration review. A successful software update should be documented separately from the exposure determination: the first proves what code is installed after maintenance, while the second records which SAML and Gateway/AAA conditions existed when the advisory was evaluated. Keep both the pre-update and post-update evidence so an auditor can see exactly what changed.
9. Check later or separate advisories
Do not stop after evaluating CVE-2026-107406 and CVE-2026-88779. CVE-2026-19490 uses an alternate-path authentication-bypass model and can require Gateway or AAA settings together with version-specific SAML-action rules. CVE-2026-3055 identifies an IdP configuration as its SAML condition. These are not interchangeable with an advisory whose precondition is simply SAML SP or IdP configuration.

For CVE-2026-19490, inspect authentication and VPN virtual servers and document the SAML actions attached to them. The presence of a SAML action alone is not the complete test when the bulletin also requires Gateway or AAA context. For CVE-2026-3055, treat an IdP profile as the relevant lead and then apply the release-specific scope in the current bulletin. Do not infer a fixed build for either CVE from the two memory-overflow advisories.
Before publishing an internal result or changing production, consult the current Citrix/Cloud Software Group bulletin for every applicable CVE. The cited 107406 bulletin was initially published October 8, 2026, and the cited 88779 bulletin was initially published October 3, 2026; vendor guidance and supported-build recommendations can change. Record the bulletin title, publication or revision date, and URL or internal reference used by the assessor.

A concise record makes the decision auditable without overstating what the check proves. Include:
- Node and product name.
- Complete release/build and standard, FIPS, or NDcPP edition.
- Date and time of the configuration export.
- Whether
add authentication samlActionwas found. - Whether
add authentication samlIdPProfilewas found. - Relevant Gateway, AAA, authentication virtual-server, or VPN virtual-server settings.
- One result per CVE: matches preconditions, does not match, or undetermined.
- The bulletin version consulted and the fixed build selected for remediation.
- Post-update build evidence and the person who approved the change.
Add the actual object names, bindings, and affected-node list when possible. If an object is present but inactive, explain how that status was verified. If evidence is missing, state exactly what is missing and who must confirm it. This format keeps the technical evidence, the vendor’s conditions, and the operational decision distinct. That separation is essential when a device is exposed to one advisory but not another, or when a SAML role changes during a migration.

Does finding add authentication samlAction mean the appliance is vulnerable?
No. It indicates an SP-related configuration lead. You must still compare the exact build, edition, role wording, and any additional conditions in the specific CVE bulletin.
What if I find both SAML command patterns?
Assess the appliance as both SP and IdP. Apply each advisory’s own rule; for CVE-2026-107406, do not substitute an IdP-only range for the broader condition that covers either role.
Are FIPS and NDcPP builds checked against standard thresholds?
No. They have separate thresholds. For example, the cited 14.1 FIPS fixes are 14.1-73.46 FIPS for CVE-2026-107406 and 14.1-73.41 FIPS for CVE-2026-88779, while 13.1 FIPS/NDcPP uses 13.1-37.283 and 13.1-37.282, respectively.
Does a high CVSS score prove that my appliance is exploitable?
No. CVSS describes the advisory’s severity under its scoring system. It does not measure prevalence or prove that a particular configuration can be exploited.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
What should I do if the build or configuration cannot be verified?
Classify the result as undetermined, obtain authoritative node and configuration evidence, and avoid claiming that the appliance is unaffected. If the appliance may be in an affected range, escalate remediation planning while verification proceeds.
Best Value
Is updating one HA peer enough?
No. Record and verify every peer or cluster member. Nodes can temporarily run different builds during maintenance, and a synchronized configuration does not synchronize software.
Should a matching result trigger incident response?
A match triggers remediation and risk review, not an automatic compromise declaration. Open a separate incident-response investigation when logs, alerts, or other evidence indicate possible exploitation.
Bottom line
Exposure checking is a disciplined comparison, not a single command: identify the exact NetScaler build and edition, find both SAML role patterns in the saved configuration, evaluate each CVE’s own conditions, and update affected appliances to the fixed build for the matching supported branch. Record the result as a match to vendor-stated preconditions—not as proof of exploitation—and reassess every node and every applicable advisory independently.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does finding add authentication samlAction mean the appliance is vulnerable?
No. It is an SP-related configuration lead. Compare the exact build, edition, role wording, and additional conditions in the relevant CVE bulletin.
What if both SAML command patterns are present?
Evaluate the appliance as both SP and IdP and apply each advisory’s separate rule. Do not use an IdP-only range when a bulletin covers either role.
Are FIPS and NDcPP builds checked against standard thresholds?
No. They use separate thresholds, such as 14.1-73.46 FIPS for CVE-2026-107406 and 14.1-73.41 FIPS for CVE-2026-88779.
Does a high CVSS score prove exploitability?
No. CVSS describes advisory severity; it does not measure prevalence or prove that a particular appliance was exploitable.
What if the build or configuration cannot be verified?
Mark the result undetermined, obtain authoritative evidence, and avoid claiming the appliance is unaffected. Begin remediation planning if an affected build is plausible.
Is updating one HA peer enough?
No. Verify every peer or cluster member because nodes can run different builds during maintenance.
Should a matching result trigger incident response?
It triggers remediation and risk review, not an automatic compromise declaration. Start a separate incident-response investigation when other evidence indicates possible exploitation.
The Bottom Line
Record the exact build and edition, identify SAML SP and IdP roles, compare every CVE independently, and install the vendor’s fixed build for the matching supported branch. A configuration match confirms stated preconditions—not compromise.
