Use the portal that matches the stage of your case: check a first appeal to the Appellate Authority through the GST portal’s My Applications, or check a case before the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) through its Case Status and Judgements/Orders services. GSTAT says appeals and applications filed through its e-filing portal are processed through its Case Information System and Document Management System, and that orders are uploaded on the Tribunal website.

First identify which appeal you are tracking

A first appeal to an Appellate Authority and an appeal before GSTAT are different proceedings, with different online routes. The GST portal tracks applications for appeals to the Appellate Authority; GSTAT’s own services are for Tribunal matters.

First appeal to the Appellate Authority Logged-in GST portal, under Services > User Services > My Applications Select Appeal to Appellate Authority and search by date range.
Appeal or application before GSTAT Official GSTAT website or the GSTAT e-filing portal Use Case Status to track the matter and Judgements/Orders (labelled Orders/Judgement on the e-filing portal) to look for a decision.

Check the status of a GSTAT case

  1. Open gstat.gov.in and choose Case Status. Alternatively, open the GSTAT e-filing portal, which also links to Case Status.

  2. On the case-status page, choose a tribunal location under Select Location, then choose a method under Select Search By.

  3. Enter the identifiers requested by the live form and submit the search. Keep the filing acknowledgement and case details available so you can match the result to your matter. The exact search methods and required fields are not documented in the retrieved official page text, so follow the fields displayed on the current form.

  4. Check the result against the case and parties before relying on it. If you cannot find a matter, check that you selected the correct location and used the identifiers exactly as they appear in your filing documents.

Find and download a GSTAT tribunal order

  1. On the GSTAT website, open Judgements/Orders. On the e-filing portal, use Orders/Judgement.

  2. Search or browse the available records using the options shown on the current page. The official material confirms the service and says GSTAT orders are uploaded on its website, but does not establish a universal sequence of clicks, a particular download format, or that every order is available immediately.

  3. Before saving or sharing a result, verify that the decision identifies the correct case and parties. Use the document available on the official Tribunal site rather than relying on an unrelated result or an unverified copy.

Track a first appeal on the GST portal

  1. Log in to the GST portal.

  2. Go to Services > User Services > My Applications.

  3. Choose Appeal to Appellate Authority, set the From and To dates, then select Search.

  4. Review the status shown for the application. GSTN’s FAQ lists labels including Appeal Submitted, Appeal admitted, Appeal Rejected, Hearing Notice Issued, Reply Submitted and Appeal Order Passed.

For an appeal against a demand order, the GSTN FAQ says the appeal is considered filed only when the final acknowledgement, APL-02, with an appeal number is issued. It gives the normal filing period as three months from communication of the order, with possible condonation of up to one further month where the authority is satisfied there was sufficient cause. These are deadline-sensitive legal details; check the current law and official guidance for the order and circumstances involved.

Check the current deadline before acting

GSTAT’s notice dated 30 June 2026 extended the section 112 appeal deadline to 31 July 2026. That date had passed by 7 October 2026, so it should not be treated as an open deadline. For any filing, confirm the applicable deadline from current official notices and the law that applies to your case.
