Before traveling near the Gomti, check the Central Water Commission’s (CWC) FloodWatch India app for the latest station-level flood situation and forecast, then verify route-specific notices through Uttar Pradesh’s official channels and the relevant local authorities. A river reading or forecast for one station does not establish conditions at every bridge, ghat, road, or destination.
Check the current Gomti situation in FloodWatch India
- Open the CWC’s FloodWatch India app. The CWC app listing describes it as the agency’s official mobile app for flood information, with near-real-time monitoring and forecasts up to seven days. The CWC launch release, dated 17 August 2023, says users can search by station name or select stations on an interactive map. Check the current app listing for present availability and features; the CWC’s launch announcement explains the service.
- Find the relevant station. Search for a Gomti station or use the map, and confirm that the station is relevant to the part of the river and route you intend to travel. A station reading describes conditions at that observation point, not the entire river corridor.
- Read a dated result. Note the station name, observation date and time, water level or situation category, and whether the level is rising, steady, or falling. Record any warning or danger thresholds shown by the live source.
- Review the forecast and refresh it. Use the forecast for context, but do not treat its horizon as a guarantee that a particular riverside area or road is safe. Check again shortly before departure and while en route if conditions are changing.
Cross-check Uttar Pradesh alerts and your route
The Uttar Pradesh Office of the Relief Commissioner portal links to the CWC flood-forecast service and other official sources, including IMD, the state disaster-management authority, the Irrigation Department, and the state Flood Management Information System. The portal cautions that displayed information should be verified against final documents issued by the concerned authorities.

Use those channels to check current notices, then look for updates from the district administration, police, transport department, or other authority responsible for your exact route and destination. A river forecast is not a road-closure notice. The sources reviewed here do not establish a current Gomti-specific road-closure list.

- Station and location: Make sure the observation point is relevant to your planned journey.
- Timestamp: Prefer the newest dated reading available; older observations may not reflect fast-changing conditions.
- Level, category, and trend: Consider the reported measurement or flood category alongside whether the level is rising, steady, or falling.
- Thresholds and forecast: Note any warning or danger thresholds displayed, and distinguish an observed level from a forecast.
- Local travel notices: Check for closures or restrictions from authorities responsible for the specific road, bridge, or area.
Do not infer conditions at a different location from a single station’s reading, or treat a regional rainfall warning as confirmation of river conditions at your destination.

What the available official information establishes
The CWC says it conducts hydrological observation nationally. Its observation page reports a network of 878 sites on major rivers and tributaries and 76 exclusive meteorological stations; the page does not specify a year for those totals, and network figures can change. The National Water Data Portal catalogs hourly telemetry river-level data from Uttar Pradesh’s Surface Water Department. That catalog entry does not itself provide a current Gomti reading or establish which station is most useful for a particular trip; see River Water Level (Telemetry – Hourly).

A CWC bulletin dated 12 September 2024 included the Gomti in an expected water-level-rise advisory for Uttar Pradesh. That is historical context, not a current alert or reading. The official pages available for this article did not surface a current Gomti gauge level or Gomti-specific forecast value. Check the live official channels for a dated station result before traveling.
