To find out whether Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing in a particular game, check the latest NBA official injury report for that matchup, then confirm any update from the Miami Heat. Recheck near tip-off: the NBA says its reports are updated throughout the day. A reporter’s “expected to play” forecast is not the same as an official game designation.
Check the report for the exact game
- Identify the matchup and local tip-off time. Availability applies to a specific game, so make sure you are looking at the correct date and opponent.
- Open the NBA official injury report. Find the newest report covering that game and the Heat, and note its timestamp. The NBA says reports are updated continually throughout the day.
- Check the Miami Heat’s official news and game-day channels. Look for a team announcement that clarifies or updates the player’s availability.
- Check again close to tip-off. A designation can change after an earlier report, so rely on the newest available update rather than an old screenshot or report.
Understand report timing
The NBA’s published 2025–26 policy sets a 5 p.m. local-time deadline on the day before a game. For the second game of a back-to-back, the deadline is 1 p.m. local time on game day. The policy also calls for a game-day report between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. local time—or 8–10 a.m. for games tipping at 5 p.m. or earlier—with a stated exception for the second day of a back-to-back. Separate official status from a forecast

That wording is a reported forecast, not a final official game designation.

Team affiliations and schedules can change. The NBA.com player page retrieved on October 2, 2026, identified Giannis with the Miami Heat; use the current player and schedule pages to confirm the team and the game you mean rather than relying on older coverage.
