China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) has two ordinary listed share lines: Shanghai A-shares, ticker 601939, and Hong Kong H-shares, ticker 939 (also shown as 00939). They are different share classes on different exchanges, not interchangeable ticker formats. Before investing, confirm the share class, exchange, and order currency in your broker’s instrument details and order preview.

Which China Construction Bank share codes are ordinary shares?

CCB investor relations lists its H-shares on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under ticker 939 and its A-shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange under ticker 601939. The issuer’s investor FAQ gives those exchange and ticker details; some issuer materials format the Hong Kong code as 00939.

CCB also reports a domestic preference share listed in Shanghai under code 360030. Its 2025 half-year report identifies it separately from the ordinary A-share and H-share lines. Do not treat 360030 as another ticker format for CCB’s ordinary A-shares. CCB reports and disclosures

How to verify the listing before placing an order

  1. Search the issuer or instrument directory. Look for China Construction Bank Corporation and compare the result with the relevant code: Shanghai A-share 601939 or Hong Kong H-share 939/00939.
  2. Check the exchange and share-class label. Confirm that the order ticket says Shanghai and A-share, or Hong Kong and H-share, as intended. If it identifies preference shares or code 360030, it is not either ordinary line.
  3. Read the order preview before submitting. Verify the instrument name, ticker, exchange, order currency, and any account-specific funding or conversion details. A company name alone is not enough to identify the security.
  4. Check the operational terms in your account. Confirm market access, eligibility, board lot, fees, settlement arrangements, and any currency-conversion charge with your broker. Availability depends on the account, investor location, broker, and trading route.

What currency do CCB’s A-shares and H-shares use?

In the standard exchange-market context, the Shanghai A-share line trades in RMB and the Hong Kong H-share line trades in HKD. HKEX investor guidance describes SSE securities as traded and settled in RMB in the Stock Connect context, and SEHK securities as quoted in HKD in the stated mainland-investor context. This is market-level guidance, not a guarantee of how a particular broker funds or settles an order. HKEX Stock Connect investor FAQ

Use the currency displayed on your own order ticket as the immediate check. Your account may involve a funding currency, conversion, or settlement process that differs from the exchange’s trading currency; ask the broker if those details are not clear.

Trading currency is not dividend currency

A dividend payment option does not change the currency in which the share trades. CCB’s 2025 annual report says H-shareholders were offered the option to receive the 2025 interim dividend in RMB for the first time. That is a dividend-payment choice, not a change to the H-share’s Hong Kong listing or its market trading currency. CCB 2025 annual report

Board lots and other details to check

CCB’s investor FAQ lists a board lot of 1,000 H-shares and 100 A-shares. The lot size is a useful check when reviewing an order, but use the current broker interface for the order options available to your account and confirm any fees and settlement terms there. CCB investor FAQ

If you can access both ordinary lines, compare the share class and exchange, ticker and instrument name, order and settlement currency, investor eligibility, broker market access, lot size, fees, and funding or conversion arrangements. These are practical differences to verify; they do not establish that either share line is the better investment.
