For the Dell Pro Premium Collaboration Keyboard KB900, check battery status in Dell Display and Peripheral Manager (DPPM), or use the keyboard’s LED to identify low battery, charging, and full charge. Charge it through its USB-C port. These instructions apply to the KB900; confirm the model on the keyboard or its packaging if yours is labeled differently.
Check the battery level in Dell Display and Peripheral Manager
Dell Display and Peripheral Manager displays device information, including battery status, for wireless devices. Open the app and find the keyboard’s device information to see its battery status. If you are connecting the keyboard for the first time, you may be prompted to download the app. If no prompt appears, get it from Dell’s KB900 Drivers & Downloads page.

Read the keyboard’s battery LED
The LED gives a status indication rather than a continuous numeric percentage reading:
- Breathing amber: battery is at 5% or less.
- Breathing white: the keyboard is charging.
- Steady white for 10 seconds, then off: charging is complete.
Dell’s guide does not describe the LED as a precise percentage meter; use DPPM for a software battery-status readout.

Charge the KB900 over USB-C
- Connect a USB-C charging cable to the keyboard’s USB-C port.
- Connect the other end to an available USB-C port on a desktop, laptop, or compatible mobile device.
- Watch for the breathing white LED while it charges. When charging finishes, the LED stays white for 10 seconds and then turns off.
The box includes a USB-C-to-USB-C charging cable, so a new cable is not normally needed. Dell says the cable is for charging only and does not transfer data. The charging LED may light even when the keyboard’s power switch is off.
What Dell says about charging time and power
The KB900 guide lists a 3000 mAh rechargeable polymer lithium-ion battery. Dell’s February 2026 guide specifies that a one-minute charge provides more than one day of battery life and that charging with a 5V/3A USB-C adapter reaches 80% capacity after one hour. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results; Dell notes that charging time varies with the connected port and its rating.

Dell’s initial troubleshooting guidance is to ensure the battery is fully charged, then switch the keyboard off and back on. To help preserve battery life when it is not in use, turn off its power switch.
