There is no single battery-percentage screen, color code, or charging accessory that applies to every Razer mouse.
For supported wireless mice, Synapse 4 lets you set an idle-sleep timer and a Low Power Mode threshold. Turning the mouse off when you are finished, avoiding unnecessary full discharges, and following the correct charging procedure can reduce slow drain and extend the useful life of a rechargeable battery.

Start with the exact Razer mouse model
Battery behavior differs substantially across Razer mice. Before checking a percentage or changing a setting, read the model name and model number on the underside of the mouse, its packaging, or Synapse. The model determines all of the following:

- Whether it uses a replaceable AA or AAA cell or a built-in lithium battery pack.
- Whether it charges through a cable, a compatible dock, or not at all.
- Whether battery information appears in Synapse, on the mouse, on a wireless dongle, or on a dock.
- Which indicator colors and warning patterns mean low, medium, or full charge.
- How long the battery is expected to last in a particular wireless mode and polling configuration.
Do not apply one model’s color code or runtime claim to another model. Razer’s own guides document different methods, and some mice provide only a warning threshold rather than a live numeric percentage.

Identify the battery type

If the mouse takes a replaceable cell, remove it before storing the mouse for an extended period if the manual advises doing so. For a lithium model, do not open the enclosure or substitute an unapproved pack.
How to check the battery level
Use Synapse 4 when your mouse supports it
Synapse 4 is the official software route for power controls on supported Razer mice. The exact information displayed depends on the model, so treat the following as the navigation path rather than a promise that every mouse will show an exact percentage.
- Connect the mouse or its wireless receiver to the computer and open Synapse 4.
- In the Dashboard, select the mouse you want to inspect.
- Open the Power tab or Power section for that device.
- Read the battery information that your model exposes. Some models provide a level or status; others expose settings and warnings without a universal numeric readout.
Synapse 4 also contains the controls that can reduce drain: Wireless Power Saving and Low Power Mode. Those controls are useful even when the software does not present a precise percentage.
Read the mouse or wireless-dongle indicator
Consult the guide for the exact model before interpreting a light. For example, the Razer Orochi V2 (2026), model RZ01-0569, repeatedly blinks red twice when its battery is below 5 percent. Razer’s instruction for that pattern is to replace the battery. That warning applies to the Orochi V2’s specified cell, not to every Razer mouse.
The Viper V4 Pro guide illustrates a different approach: its dongle status bands indicate 100 percent with green, 75 percent with yellow, 50 percent with orange, and 25 percent with red. A four-band estimate is not equivalent to a live percentage and should not be generalized to another dongle or mouse.

Check a compatible charging dock
A dock can show a status when both the dock and mouse support that combination. Razer documents the following examples:

Those labels come from the respective dock documentation and are not a universal Razer standard. For the Basilisk Ultimate, Razer’s charging instructions specify that the mouse must be connected to Synapse 4 while it is charging on the dock for the described status check. If the light does not match the guide, verify the exact dock, mouse, firmware, and contact alignment before concluding that the battery is defective.

Why you may not see a percentage
Razer’s official material does not establish one current, comparable percentage display for the entire mouse range. A support question about the Basilisk Ultimate and a user question about the former Synapse dashboard both concern particular models or software versions. They do not prove that every current mouse reports a percentage in the same place. When your model’s manual lists only a color, blink pattern, or low-battery warning, use that documented signal instead of estimating a number.
Extend battery life with Synapse 4
Shorten the Wireless Power Saving timer
The idle timer controls how quickly a supported wireless mouse enters a power-saving state when you stop moving it. Razer documents a range of 1 to 15 minutes.
- Open Synapse 4 and select the mouse from the Dashboard.
- Open Power.
- Find Wireless Power Saving.
- Choose an idle interval from 1–15 minutes and apply the setting.
A shorter interval sends the mouse to sleep sooner during pauses, which normally reduces idle drain. Razer does not publish a universal number of hours saved by each setting, so choose according to your workflow. A one-minute timer suits a desk where the mouse sits unused for long stretches; a longer timer can avoid frequent wake-ups during short pauses in a game or editing session.

Set Low Power Mode deliberately
Synapse 4 documents a Low Power Mode threshold from 5 percent to 100 percent. The threshold determines when the mode activates, not how much charge the battery contains.

- Locate Low Power Mode and choose the activation threshold within the 5–100 percent range.
- Save the setting and test the mouse at that threshold in the application you use most.
Razer says Low Power Mode reduces tracking speed and sensor acceleration to save power. That can alter cursor feel, aiming, or rapid pointer movement. Set the threshold high enough to give you warning time, but not so high that the reduced-performance mode appears during normal work. If consistent tracking is more important than extra emergency runtime, leave the mode off or use a lower threshold and recharge sooner.
Turn the mouse off when you are finished
Razer advises switching the mouse off when it is not in use to prevent slow battery discharge. This matters when a wireless mouse remains in a bag, on a shelf, or beside a computer that is sleeping. Use the physical power switch rather than assuming the computer’s sleep state has disconnected the mouse.
Charge and store a lithium-battery mouse correctly
Charge with the mouse switched off
For a mouse with a built-in lithium pack, Razer cautions that a fully depleted battery may not charge if the mouse is left on. Turn the mouse off before connecting the cable or placing it on the dock, especially when it has stopped responding or reports a critically low level.
If the mouse will not charge, Razer’s troubleshooting guidance calls for charging a lithium-pack model while it is off for at least 30 minutes before testing it again. A brief connection may not provide enough recovery time for a deeply discharged pack.

Avoid routine full discharge and excessive heat
Do not make a habit of running a lithium battery completely empty. Avoid charging or storing the mouse in excessive heat, such as direct sunlight, a hot car, or against a heat-producing device. Heat accelerates battery aging and can create charging problems even when the cable and software are working correctly.
Prepare it for long-term storage
For extended storage, Razer recommends leaving a lithium battery just below full rather than fully charged or fully depleted. Switch the mouse off, disconnect it from the charger, and store it in a cool, dry place. Check it periodically according to the model’s manual; do not leave a stored mouse connected indefinitely.
What runtime numbers really mean
Advertised runtime depends on the exact model, wireless mode, polling rate, lighting, sensor behavior, and test conditions. It is not a guaranteed result for every user. The only precise figures in the current Razer material covered here are for the Orochi V2 (2026), model RZ01-0569:

Work through the checks in order. Stop if the mouse becomes unusually hot, swells, smells abnormal, or shows physical battery damage; disconnect it and seek the manufacturer’s service guidance rather than continuing to charge it.

- Switch the mouse off. Leave a lithium-pack model connected to power for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on.
- Check the charging path. Use the specified cable, power connection, or compatible dock. Plug directly into the computer instead of a USB hub while testing.
- Clean dock contacts. If you use a dock, gently clean and inspect the contacts on both the dock and mouse. Misalignment, dirt, or oxidation can interrupt charging and status reporting.
- Reseat the mouse. Place it squarely on the dock or reconnect the cable firmly. Confirm that the expected indicator appears.
- Check firmware. Install the firmware updates Razer provides for the mouse, receiver, or dock, then test charging again.
- Test without Synapse when applicable. Connect the mouse to another system or test the hardware without Synapse to distinguish a software display problem from a charging fault.
- Recheck compatibility. A dock’s light meanings and charging contacts apply only to supported mouse models. Do not assume that a dock designed for one family will report another family’s battery status.
If the mouse works only while connected, loses charge unusually quickly after these checks, or will not recover from a deep discharge, stop repeatedly cycling the battery and contact Razer support for model-specific service options.
Synapse 3 and Synapse 4 considerations
Razer states that Synapse 3 stopped receiving updates and cloud services on February 3, 2026. An installed Synapse 3 setup may continue configuring devices, but if you fully uninstall it, Razer says Synapse 4 is required for continued customization. Before migrating, record profiles and note the power settings you rely on. Then install the current software recommended for your model and confirm that the Power tab, battery indicator, and wireless receiver are recognized.
A missing battery readout after a software change does not automatically mean the battery has failed. First verify that the model is supported, the receiver is connected, firmware is current, and the software version is the one Razer currently documents for that device.

A practical battery-maintenance routine
Before a long workday or gaming session
- Check the model’s documented indicator or Synapse 4 status.
- Confirm that the wireless receiver or Bluetooth connection is using the mode you intend.

- Carry the specified cable or a correctly sized replacement cell if the model requires one.
After use
- Switch the mouse off if you will not use it again soon.
