To check an LG appliance warranty in the United States, find the product’s model number, open LG USA’s Warranty Information page, and follow the product or model lookup. Keep the serial number and purchase details nearby: warranty coverage can depend on the exact model and how and where it was bought. The label’s location varies by appliance, so use LG’s model and serial number guide if you cannot spot it.
How do I check the warranty on my LG appliance?
- Find the model and serial numbers. Check the appliance label or, for a connected appliance, use the LG ThinQ app to retrieve the identifiers.
- Open LG USA’s Warranty Information page. Choose the relevant product category and follow the model lookup to find warranty information for your appliance.
- Compare the terms with your purchase records. Have the purchase date, retailer or place of purchase, and price available. Check any applicable retailer terms separately from the model’s standard limited warranty.
- Save or register the product details. LG’s page directs owners to MyLG for product information. LG says registration uses the product model number, serial number, and owner information, and requests purchase date, place, and price.
Registration, the appliance’s standard warranty, and a retailer or paid service-plan extension are not the same thing. Read the terms that apply to your model and purchase rather than assuming that registration creates or extends coverage.

Where is the model number on an LG appliance?
Label placement differs across appliance types and may vary by model. LG’s illustrated model and serial number guide lists locations by product; use the matching section if the first place you check is empty.

On most LG refrigerators, the label is inside the refrigerator on the right side of the liner. LG notes that newer refrigerators may have the label on the left side instead.

LG lists several possible label locations for ranges and ovens. Consult the illustrated guide for the specific appliance rather than relying on one location that may not apply to your model.
Connected appliances
LG says the ThinQ app can retrieve a connected appliance’s model and serial numbers. This can be useful if the label is difficult to reach or read.
Which number should I enter?
Use the model number for the warranty lookup; it identifies the product. The serial number identifies the individual unit and is useful when you register or contact support. Copy both carefully from the label or app.

Some instructions in LG’s refrigerator finder are specific to that finder: it describes refrigerator serial numbers as starting with three numbers and containing 12 or 13 characters, and says to enter only the part of its example model number before the period. Do not apply those format rules to other appliances or lookup tools unless their instructions say to.

- Any retailer warranty or service-plan terms that may apply to the appliance.
LG’s registration instructions say: “Enter your product model number, serial number and your information.” Its Warranty Information page also describes entering purchase details and accessing product support records through MyLG. A receipt or other purchase record can help establish the purchase information relevant to your case.
Can a retailer change the warranty terms?
Warranty duration and extensions depend on the model and purchase circumstances. One specific example: LG Electronics USA describes an additional year on the one-year limited warranty for qualifying Costco member home-appliance purchases. The Costco terms say other terms remain in effect; this is not a general extension for every LG owner. Check the warranty for your exact model and the terms tied to your retailer and purchase.
