Amazon’s built-in price history, Keepa and CamelCamelCamel can show whether an Amazon price is low relative to recorded Amazon prices. Keepa’s mobile app can also scan a barcode in a store to check online prices. None of the sources reviewed establishes a tracker that records prices at every local shop or proves that a current offer is the lowest available. Use price history as context, then compare the exact item and purchase terms before deciding.
How do I check Amazon price history?
Use Amazon’s built-in history
On eligible product listings, Amazon’s Alexa for Shopping feature can answer questions such as “What’s the price history?” and “Is this the lowest price recently?” Amazon says it offers 30-, 90- and 365-day views. Its page lists availability for customers in the U.S., UK, Canada and India; the 365-day view is rolling out in the U.S., UK and India. Use a third-party Amazon tracker
Keepa provides Amazon price-history charts and price-drop alerts. Its browser extension can place charts on supported Amazon product pages, while its app listing describes price and availability alerts, product search and barcode scanning to check online prices in a retail store. The scanner is an online-price check, not evidence that Keepa records that store’s shelf prices. Check the app listing for the Amazon locales it supports: Keepa on Google Play. CamelCamelCamel is another Amazon-focused option. It describes free price-history charts, email alerts for watched prices and a browser extension called The Camelizer.

Was this Amazon sale price higher last month?
Look at the chart for the identical product and the relevant time window. A 30-day view can show recent movement; a 90-day or 365-day view gives a longer comparison when available. Check which price line or offer the chart represents, since the product may have different sellers or purchase options. A lower historical point means the item was recorded at a lower price during that period; it does not show that the same price is available now or will return.
Amazon’s reference prices also mean different things. Its description of its deal benchmarks says List Price is a validated price found on Amazon and at other retailers. Typical or “Was” Price is the median price paid on Amazon in the prior 90 days, excluding prices paid during a limited-time deal. Neither benchmark, by itself, proves that today’s price is the lowest at local stores.

Amazon reported that more than 50 million customers had used its price history since its 2024 launch and that the average customer checked it three times a month. Those are Amazon-reported usage figures, not independent evidence of savings or price accuracy. Amazon’s feature page gives those figures.

You can use Keepa’s barcode scanner in a retail store to check online prices, then make the comparison yourself. The documented features do not establish comprehensive local-shop price tracking or a history of local shelf prices. For a fair comparison, verify the same model or product identifier, condition and seller, then account for shipping, coupons, membership requirements and any other terms that affect the final price. These are practical checks, not features guaranteed by the trackers.

Does a price tracker prove this is the lowest price?
No. A history chart helps judge an offer against recorded prices; alerts tell you when a tracked price changes or reaches a watched level. The sources do not show that any of these services captures every promotion, guarantees the lowest future price or compares every local store. Treat “lowest” as a conclusion you verify against the item’s recorded history and the current alternatives you can actually buy—not as a promise from a chart or deal label.
