Use Samsung Members > Phone diagnostics > Battery status to check battery condition. For the current charge and usage information, open Settings > Battery. If the problem is a cable or USB connection, run the separate charging diagnostics when they’re available on your model.
Check battery health with Samsung Members
- Open the Samsung Members app. If it isn’t installed, Samsung says it’s available from Galaxy Store or Google Play.
- Open Support or Diagnostics, then choose Phone diagnostics. Depending on the app version, Diagnostics may be on the Discover tab. Samsung’s battery-replacement instructions also describe Support > Get Started.
- If a full diagnostic scan starts, let it run or stop it and select Battery status on its own. Samsung’s battery guide describes starting the full diagnostics, stopping the test, and then choosing the individual battery check.
- Read the result. Samsung’s menu labels and routes can vary by phone model, app layout, and software version. See Samsung’s Samsung Members diagnostics instructions and battery replacement guidance if your screens differ.
What Normal, Weak, and Bad mean
Samsung’s UK guidance describes three categorical Battery status results. It does not give a universal battery-health percentage threshold, so don’t interpret these labels as a specific remaining-capacity figure.

- Normal: Samsung’s diagnostic found no battery issue.
- Weak: Battery efficiency may have declined because of use or environmental conditions.
- Bad: Battery life has significantly degraded; Samsung advises seeking guidance from a support center.

Check current charge and battery usage
Open Settings > Battery to see the remaining battery power and usage information, including an estimated time remaining on supported screens. Treat the time as an estimate: Samsung notes that it can change with settings and operating conditions.

Display options vary by model. For example, the Galaxy Z Flip6 manual (SM-F741B) lists Settings > Display > Show charging information for showing details such as the remaining percentage while the screen is off. Its Battery settings also include battery information and an option to show the percentage in the status bar. Samsung Members may offer separate Cable charging and USB connection diagnostic items. Run these if the phone is not charging reliably or you suspect a cable or port problem. They are separate from Battery status, and availability depends on the device.
You don’t need to buy a cable or charger just to run the battery-health check. If you’re troubleshooting charging, use equipment compatible with your exact Galaxy model; Samsung’s Z Flip6 manual recommends an approved charger and the supplied USB Type-C cable. Don’t assume that advice or charging performance specifications apply identically to every Galaxy. If the multipurpose jack is wet, dry it thoroughly before connecting a charger. Signs that warrant service
Lithium-ion batteries gradually lose performance with continued use. Samsung identifies rapid drain after charging and unexpected shutdowns—particularly in cold conditions—as possible signs of battery aging. A Galaxy phone may also show a battery-performance-degradation alert when performance has declined significantly.
If you see that alert, Samsung advises having the phone inspected at a service center. Contact Samsung Support or visit a service center if battery problems continue. Whether repair or replacement is covered depends on the applicable warranty conditions. Samsung battery replacement guidance.
