Start by checking the TV’s power cord, outlet, breaker, and remote. If those basics are sound, confirming a faulty power-supply board requires the exact TV model’s service information and may involve hazardous live-voltage testing. A dark screen or missing standby light alone does not identify the failed part. If you are not trained to work around energized electronics, stop at the external checks and arrange professional service.
Check the simple external causes first
Before opening the television, follow the basic no-power checks in LG’s no-power guidance:

- Confirm the power cord is firmly connected at the TV and the outlet.
- Test the outlet with a device you know works, and check the breaker if needed.
- Check whether the TV’s standby light responds.
- Confirm the remote is working; if possible, try the TV’s own power button.
If these checks do not resolve the problem, LG recommends professional service. Do not conclude that the power board is faulty solely because the TV will not turn on.
Identify the exact model before considering board tests
Record the TV’s complete model number from its label or documentation. Find service information for that exact model before interpreting connector pins, test points, or voltage readings. Procedures and expected values are not universal across LED TVs.

For example, an iFixit guide for a particular LG OLED TV describes a standby check of approximately 7.8 V at a named connector. That is an example for the guide’s specific set, not a target for other LG models or LED TVs generally. An LG service manual for the 55UP7670PUC family likewise uses model-specific output checks and directs repair or replacement based on its procedure. Use neither example as a substitute for the documentation for your own TV.
Know the safety boundary
A multimeter can be used for checks such as fuse continuity or specified voltage measurements, but having a meter does not make powered-board testing safe. The iFixit guide warns: “As soon as the mains plug is switched on dangerous mains voltage is present at several points. The circuit board should not be touched when plugged in.”

Do not open or probe an energized TV unless you have the training and equipment to follow the exact service procedure safely. Do not bridge or short pins to try to start the set. If a test requires touching probes to a powered board, or you are unsure how to isolate and handle the board, leave the work to a qualified repair professional.
Interpret measurements in context
A reading is useful only when taken at the correct point, under the test conditions specified for the model. A missing expected output may support further diagnosis, but it does not by itself identify a particular failed component. A standby-voltage reading also does not prove the board is healthy: the iFixit guide notes that standby voltage may be present even when the supply cannot provide enough current for standby operation.

Visual inspection is not a reliable verdict either. A board can look normal and still be faulty, while symptoms such as no standby light do not point uniquely to the power supply. Follow the model’s diagnostic flow rather than replacing a board based on appearance or one symptom.
