To use Apple Music in another country or region, change the Country/Region setting for the Apple Account used for Media & Purchases. Before you do, clear any account balance and pending activity, resolve subscriptions that block the change, and check Family Sharing. Apple may also require a payment method and billing address for the destination region. Because Apple Music availability varies by region, check the destination’s catalog and download content you may need before switching.
Before changing your Apple Account region
Apple’s region-change process can be blocked by account and subscription conditions. Work through these checks first:

- Spend your Apple Account balance. Apple requires you to use any remaining balance before changing locations. If the balance is too small to buy even one item, contact Apple Support to have it cleared.
- Resolve subscriptions that block the change. Cancel the blocking subscription and wait for its current period to end. Apple does not say that every subscription must always be canceled.
- Wait for pending activity to finish. Memberships, pre-orders, rentals, Season Passes, and refunds may need to complete or process before you can switch.
- Check Family Sharing. Being in a Family Sharing group may prevent a region change. If needed, follow Apple’s instructions linked from its country or region change guide for leaving a group.
- Check the destination’s payment rules. Apple may request a valid payment method and billing address for the new region. Accepted methods vary by country or region and can change; check Apple’s payment-method list for the destination.
- Download content you may need. Apple recommends redownloading music and other media before changing because some content may not be available in the new region.
Change your country or region
Use the route for the device or browser you have. Menu labels can differ slightly, so complete the on-screen prompts if the final button wording is different.

iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Media & Purchases, then View Account if it appears. Sign in if prompted.
- Tap Country/Region and select the destination.
- Review and accept the terms.
- Enter a payment method and billing address if requested, then follow the remaining prompts.
Mac
- Open the Apple Music or Apple TV app.
- In the menu bar, choose Account, then Account Settings.
- Choose Country/Region, select the destination, and accept the terms.
- Provide payment information and a billing address if asked, then finish the on-screen steps.
Windows PC
- Open Apple Music or Apple TV.
- Select your account name at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose View My Account.
- Choose Change Country or Region and select the destination.
- Accept the terms and enter the requested payment and billing details.
Web
- Sign in at account.apple.com.
- Open Personal Information, select Country/Region, and follow the instructions.
What changes for Apple Music and your library
Apple’s media availability differs by country or region. The differences can affect subscriptions, purchases, downloads, features, and services, so check the exact destination in Apple’s availability list rather than assuming a particular album or feature will carry over.

Apple recommends downloading music and other content you may need before switching. That is a precaution, not a guarantee that every downloaded item will remain usable afterward. Sync Library also depends on using the same Apple Account as your Apple Music subscription; Apple notes that availability varies by region. Check that the intended account is signed in on each device, and do not assume every track or playlist will be available in the destination.
Payment method and subscription considerations
There is no single payment method that works for every destination. If Apple asks for payment details, use a method accepted for that country or region and a matching billing address. Consult Apple’s current regional payment list because accepted methods may change.

If you do not want to enter a payment method, Apple says to wait until you are physically in the new country or region and create a new Apple Account. This is Apple’s stated alternative, not a way to bypass regional restrictions. Services such as Apple One or iCloud+ may need to be resubscribed in the new location if they are available there; check the effects of canceling those plans before making changes.
If you can’t change the region
Check the common account blockers in this order:
- Confirm that subscriptions which block the change have been canceled and their current periods have ended.
- Spend the remaining Apple Account balance, or contact Apple Support if it is less than the cost of one item.
- Wait for memberships, pre-orders, rentals, Season Passes, or refunds to finish processing.
- Check whether Family Sharing is preventing the change.
- Verify that the requested payment method and billing address meet the destination region’s requirements.
If the change remains blocked, Apple Support can check the account-specific issue; the appropriate payment method and exact blocker depend on your account and destination.
