On a Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings > General management > Date and time. Leave automatic settings on to use network-based time, or turn them off to set the date, time, and time zone yourself. Samsung watches and TVs have separate controls, so the right steps depend on which device you’re setting.
Change the date and time on a Galaxy phone or tablet
Open Settings > General management > Date and time. If the menu path differs on your software version, search Settings for “Date and time.” Samsung notes that labels and control placement can vary by device and software. Samsung’s phone and tablet instructions describe the available settings.

Use automatic time
Keep Automatic date and time enabled to use network settings. You can also enable Automatic time zone so the device can update its zone based on the area you visit, where the device and network support it. Automatic mode is generally the simpler choice when you want the clock to follow network and location changes.

Set the time and date manually
- On the Date and time screen, switch off Automatic date and time and Automatic time zone. Manual controls appear when automatic date and time is off.
- Tap Set date, choose the correct date, then tap Done.
- Tap Set time, adjust the clock, then tap Done.
- Tap Select time zone and choose the zone that matches the device’s intended location.
Manual mode gives you direct control, but you must keep both the clock and time zone accurate. A wrong zone can make the displayed time incorrect even if the date and time were entered carefully.

Account for travel and daylight saving
With automatic settings enabled, the device may update its time and zone as you travel, subject to network and device support. Samsung also says a manually selected time zone that observes daylight saving may still adjust the clock on the applicable date.

There is a specific exception in Samsung’s US guidance: some Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi models running Android R may not support automatic time-zone services. In that case, the zone may remain unchanged when traveling between certain regions; Samsung advises setting it manually in countries with multiple time zones. This limitation is specific to the stated tablet and software case, not all Galaxy tablets.

- Return to Settings > General management > Date and time and turn Automatic date and time back on to restore network-based time.
- Check whether Automatic time zone or Set time zone based on location is enabled, if available. If the device does not update its zone, select the correct one manually.
- Confirm the time zone as well as the clock reading, particularly after travel or a daylight-saving change.
Samsung warns that inaccurate dates and times can affect apps and websites and may trigger security warnings. That makes the clock worth checking when troubleshooting, but it does not mean every app or website problem is caused by the device’s time. Samsung’s time and date troubleshooting guide covers these checks.

Change the time on a Samsung watch
First check whether the watch is paired. A watch connected by Bluetooth or through the Galaxy Wearable app synchronizes its date and time from the phone, and the watch’s own settings cannot then change them. Set the time on the paired phone instead. If the watch’s Date and time control is greyed out, Samsung says the watch is paired.
For a standalone watch
On a watch that supports standalone use, open Settings > General > Date and time, select the field you want to change, and set the time zone if the option is available. The controls depend on the watch model and software. Samsung’s standalone-watch instructions do not apply to devices that cannot be set up as standalone, including Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, and Galaxy Fit in the cited guidance. Samsung also states that Wear OS models cannot be set up as standalone watches. Check your specific model before relying on standalone controls. Samsung’s watch date and time instructions explain the paired and standalone cases; its watch time troubleshooting guide addresses watches that fail to update after travel or being powered off for an extended period.

Set the clock on a Samsung TV
Using the remote, open Menu/Settings > All Settings > General (or General & Privacy) > System Manager > Time > Clock. Menu names differ by TV generation, so use the closest matching labels on your set. Samsung’s TV clock guide provides the settings path and related timer information.

- Auto: Select Clock Mode > Auto to let the TV set its clock automatically when supported by its connection and signals.
- Manual: Select Clock Mode > Manual, then enter the date and time yourself.
A manual setup may be needed if the TV is not connected to the internet, does not receive broadcast signals, or has been switched from Auto to Manual. In Auto mode, time-zone or daylight-saving controls may not be adjustable; Samsung also documents a Time Offset option in Auto mode. If a clock control is greyed out while an app is open, exit the app and return to the TV source before trying again.
Clock settings and TV timers
The TV clock must be set for the Off Timer to work. The Sleep Timer is separate: Samsung says it can be set for up to 180 minutes, but it does not correct the TV’s clock.
