To update the number used for Samsung Account two-step verification, open your account’s security settings, add the new number under Text message, and verify it with the code Samsung sends. If you can’t receive a code at your old number, choose the number-change recovery option on the sign-in screen; Samsung says that review can take up to two weeks in its US and Canada guidance.
Change your number while you can still sign in
Samsung manages this number in the account’s two-step verification settings. Add and verify the new number before removing the old one. Samsung Canada says at least one phone number must remain registered.

On a Galaxy phone or tablet
- Open Settings and go to Accounts and backup → Manage accounts → Samsung Account → My profile → Security and privacy → Two-step verification. This is the path in Samsung UK’s support instructions; menu labels can vary by software and market.
- Enter your Samsung Account password if prompted, then choose Text message.
- Tap Add, enter the new number, and tap Send code.
- Enter the code sent to the new number to verify it. Once the new number is registered, you can remove the previous number if you no longer need it.
Samsung Australia says its instructions are designed for Australian-variant Galaxy devices. If the listed menus don’t match your phone, consult Samsung Support for your country. Samsung UK’s step-by-step guide and Samsung Australia’s guide show regional instructions.

- Sign in to the Samsung Account website and open Security.
- If asked, re-enter your password. Under Password and security, select Two-step verification.
- Choose Text message → Edit personal information → Add phone number.
- Enter the new number, request the code, and enter it to verify the number.

If you can’t receive a code at the old number
Start the change request from the Samsung Account sign-in verification screen. Samsung’s US and Canada instructions use the following options:
- Choose Didn’t get the verification code?
- Select Need to change your phone number?
- Enter the new number as prompted, including the country code where applicable, and complete the additional identity checks shown on screen.
Samsung says the security review can take up to two weeks in its cited US and Canada guidance. The US guide warns that submitting another request before the first one finishes resets the two-week timeline. Canada’s instructions include an email verification step. Follow the prompts for your country and account rather than assuming every region uses the same process.

Retry details also differ by region: Samsung’s US instructions say an incorrectly entered full number may require a 30-minute wait before another attempt. Samsung Canada says more than five incorrect attempts can temporarily restrict the process for a few hours. These are regional instructions, not universal retry rules. See the US recovery guidance or Canadian guidance that applies to your account.
Other ways to complete sign-in
- Use a Galaxy device already signed in: Samsung says another signed-in Galaxy device may be able to verify your sign-in.
- Use a backup code: If you saved backup codes when you set up two-step verification, try one when prompted.
- Contact Samsung Support: Samsung UK recommends support if you cannot use an already signed-in device or backup codes. Available recovery steps depend on your region.
