To access stickers and emoji on Samsung Keyboard, enable Keyboard toolbar in Samsung Keyboard settings. For suggestions that appear as you type, turn on Suggest emojis or Suggest stickers while typing under Smart typing. If a shortcut is missing only from the emoji panel in Samsung Messages, manage that panel separately.
Show the Samsung Keyboard toolbar
The toolbar puts shortcuts such as Emoji and Stickers within reach above the keyboard. On most supported Galaxy devices, turn it on here:

- Open Settings.
- Tap General management.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Turn on Keyboard toolbar.
If the menu path differs, search Settings for Samsung Keyboard. Samsung Canada also documents opening the keyboard’s Settings icon and switching on Keyboard toolbar when the toolbar is already visible. Samsung notes that screens and settings may differ by country; its Canada support instructions apply to devices sold in Canada. Samsung Canada’s keyboard settings guide was updated March 28, 2026.
Customize toolbar icons
Tap the three-dot control on the toolbar to see additional options. On supported versions, you can press and hold an icon, then drag it into or out of the toolbar panel. Samsung India’s September 30, 2024 guide says up to seven icons can be added; treat that as the limit stated for the versions covered by that guide, not a universal limit for every Galaxy device. Samsung India’s toolbar guide notes that availability depends on model and software.

Turn emoji and sticker suggestions on or off
Suggestions are separate from simply showing the toolbar. Open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings, then find Smart typing. Toggle the options you want:
- Suggest emojis displays emoji suggestions while you type.
- Suggest stickers while typing displays sticker suggestions while you type.
The settings control contextual suggestions, not whether the emoji and sticker panels are available to open from the toolbar. Samsung’s older Global Newsroom article about Samsung Keyboard lists English, Korean, Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, German, and Portuguese for emoji suggestions and says sticker suggestions required One UI 1.5 or later. Those details describe an older keyboard generation and should not be taken as a current, universal language or compatibility list. The article also describes selecting sticker sources within the sticker-suggestion setting.

Restore or reorder shortcuts in Samsung Messages
If the toolbar is visible but an emoji shortcut is missing from the emoji panel, change the panel’s shortcuts. Samsung documents this route for Samsung Messages; other messaging apps may have different controls.
- Open a conversation in Samsung Messages.
- Tap the emoji icon on Samsung Keyboard.
- Swipe left in the emoji panel, then tap its Settings icon.
- Toggle shortcuts to show or hide them. To change their order, tap Edit and drag shortcuts into position.
- Tap Back twice to return to the keyboard.

Use Galaxy Avatar or create an AI sticker
Send an avatar sticker
In a messaging app, open Samsung Keyboard, tap its emoji icon, choose your custom avatar or AR Emoji, and send it. On the Galaxy S25 series and compatible devices running Android 15 and One UI 7.0, Samsung renamed AR Emoji to Galaxy Avatar. The name and available options therefore depend on the device and software version. Samsung’s support page describes the rename and avatar workflow.

- Tap a text field to open Samsung Keyboard.
- Tap the emoji icon, then the AI stickers icon.
- Choose Create sticker, enter a prompt, and select a style.
- Generate the sticker and choose it to use in your message.
AI stickers are a feature available on supported devices, not a universal keyboard setting. Samsung cautions that settings and options vary by device and software version. See Samsung’s custom-sticker guide.

If the settings are not where expected
- Search Settings for Samsung Keyboard if the menu hierarchy differs. Older instructions may use labels such as Language and input, On-screen keyboard, or Style and layout; these are legacy paths and may not match current software.
- Confirm that the active keyboard is Samsung Keyboard. A different keyboard app has its own toolbar and suggestion settings.
- Bear in mind that features and labels vary by model, One UI or Android version, and region. Samsung India says toolbar availability is limited to selected model/software combinations; its Canada support page likewise warns that screens can differ between countries.
