Equip the armor or outfit you want to use
Armor and outfits are part of Atsu’s gameplay setup, not just visual choices. Their special features can combine with charm effects, so first equip the set whose effects suit your approach. PlayStation’s builds guide describes builds as combinations of armor or outfit features and charm boons.

The game starts with three saved builds and later allows up to five. Use those slots to save equipment-and-charm combinations you want to switch between; a build is useful when changing gameplay setups, while the appearance override is for separating a chosen armor set’s look from the set providing your stats.
Use a different armor set’s appearance
Patch v2.0 adds an option to keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats, according to PlayStation’s patch announcement. This is the confirmed way to wear the look of one armor set without giving up the gameplay properties of the set you equipped.

The announcement does not specify the option’s in-game menu labels or controller sequence. Check the current in-game menus rather than relying on an assumed button-by-button route. The confirmed feature is an armor appearance/stat override; it does not establish that every individual garment or cosmetic piece can be freely mixed.

What New Game+ adds
New Game+ unlocks after the main story. PlayStation says it carries over gear, upgrades, cosmetics, resources, and collectibles. Objectives already completed in the first playthrough can award Ghost Flowers; a new vendor exchanges them for additional cosmetics, charms, and two new upgradeable armor sets.
