To change an outfit or glasses, open the in-game main menu and select COSTUME. For cosmetic DLC, first claim the downloaded content under ITEM > DLC; installing it from your platform’s store does not by itself add the items to your usable inventory.

Change an outfit, attachment, or glasses

  1. Open the in-game main menu. The official manual extract does not specify the button or keyboard shortcut, so use the controls shown for your platform rather than assuming a particular input.
  2. Select COSTUME.
  3. Choose the costume, attachment, hair color, or glasses you want to use.

The official manual describes COSTUME as the menu for changing costumes, attachments, and hair colors. Official cosmetic listings also direct players to equip obtained items there.

Claim cosmetic DLC before equipping it

If you downloaded a costume or glasses set and cannot find it in COSTUME, claim it in the game first. The official manual documents this flow for Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and Steam:

  1. Obtain the cosmetic DLC from your platform’s official store if you do not already own it.
  2. In the game, open ITEM, then select the DLC tab.
  3. Select the newly added DLC content and use it to obtain the items.
  4. Open COSTUME and equip the item you want.

The manual says downloaded DLC is installed automatically and appears in the DLC tab, but the content must be used there to enter the relevant item list. Menu labels are documented across Switch/Switch 2, PS5, and Steam; exact controls may differ by platform.

  • Downloaded DLC: Check ITEM > DLC and use the new content before searching in COSTUME.
  • Story-unlocked or other non-DLC outfit: COSTUME is the documented place to change outfits, but the official material cited here does not establish individual unlock conditions or where every story-earned item appears.
  • Glasses Set B: A Nintendo Switch listing exists, but its complete contents are not established here; do not assume it matches Set A.

Glasses Set A

Nintendo’s 2026 listing names three designs: Navy Blue Glasses, Large-Framed Glasses, and XL Star Party Glasses. It lists 14 of each design and directs players to collect downloaded content through ITEM > DLC and equip it in COSTUME. See Nintendo’s Glasses Set A listing.

1st Chapter Costume Set

Nintendo’s listing describes looks including mascot and classic-style costumes for Estelle and Joshua, swimsuits, the Jenis Royal Academy Uniform Set, and diner costume sets. The listing gives September 24, 2026 as its release date; that date and availability are specific to the listing and may vary by region or platform. It says the set is included in the Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Season Pass or can be purchased separately, and warns buyers to avoid purchasing the same content twice. The base game is required to use the cited DLC. Check Nintendo’s Costume Set listing.
