A full theme can also change wallpapers, Samsung app artwork, sounds, fonts and layout, so select that option only when you want a broader makeover.
Choose the right customization method first
Galaxy phones separate complete themes from icon packs. The choice determines whether your wallpaper, sounds and Samsung app screens stay as they are.

Check these requirements before you begin
- These instructions apply to Galaxy phones. Samsung states that Galaxy Themes is for Galaxy phones, not Galaxy Tabs.
- Samsung’s United States instructions require a Samsung account to access Galaxy Themes. If Themes asks you to sign in, use the Samsung account associated with the phone.
- Expect labels and screens to differ by carrier, model, software version and region. A feature shown in Samsung’s US, Australian or Colombian guidance may not appear identically on your device.
- For paid content, rely on the price displayed on your phone at the moment you select the item; the amount is not universal across markets or packs.
How to apply a complete Galaxy Theme
A full theme is the quickest route to a coordinated look, but it can replace more than your icons. Check the theme’s description first if preserving your wallpaper, sounds or fonts matters.

- Go to the Home screen and touch and hold an empty area.
- Tap Themes.
- Open Menu, represented by three horizontal lines.
- Tap My stuff, then choose Themes.
- Select the theme you want to use and tap Apply. If a second confirmation appears, tap Apply again.
The phone applies the elements included in that design. Samsung notes that a theme can contain its own backgrounds, icons or fonts, depending on the chosen theme. Other themes also include sounds, Samsung app artwork or layout changes, so the preview and description are the authority for that individual item rather than the word “theme” alone.

Return to the standard appearance
To undo a complete theme, open the Home-screen customization view again, go to Themes > Menu > My stuff > Themes, choose Default and apply it. You can also select another theme from the same list.
How to change only app icons
Use an icon-only pack when you like your current wallpaper, lock screen, sounds and other theme settings. This is a separate catalog from complete themes.
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
- Tap Themes.
- Tap Icons to browse icon sets.
- Choose a set. Tap Download when it is free, or select the price shown for a paid set.
- After the download finishes, open Menu > My stuff > Icons.
- Select the downloaded set and tap Apply. Confirm by tapping Apply again if the phone asks.
What happens to apps that are not covered
An icon pack is not guaranteed to contain artwork for every app installed on your phone. Covered apps change to the pack’s design; unsupported apps can retain their existing icons. That is a limitation of the pack’s coverage, not necessarily an installation failure.

Samsung’s US instructions do not provide a way in this Galaxy Themes flow to substitute your own image files as app icons. You can choose from the available Galaxy Themes icon sets, but the documented method does not turn a photo in your gallery into a replacement icon.

What a full theme can change
The scope is theme-specific. Samsung’s guidance identifies the following possible elements:
- Lock-screen wallpaper.
- Home-screen wallpaper.
- App icons.
- Samsung app visuals, including Phone, Contacts, Messages and Keyboard.
- Sounds.
- Some fonts.
- Overall layout and other visual details.
Not every theme contains every element. Before applying one, inspect its description to see whether it includes backgrounds, icons, fonts or other components. This is why an icon-only pack is the safer choice when you want to preserve the rest of your present design.
Use Theme Park for a custom design
Theme Park is Samsung’s optional customization app in the Galaxy Store. The listing identifies it as a free Good Lock Labs app for creating and installing themes and describes per-app theme choices. It also warns that supported apps and functions vary by app and Android version.
The Galaxy Store listing observed on June 23, 2026 showed version 1.1.02.2. That version number and date describe the listing at that time, not a permanent compatibility guarantee; the store can publish a newer build or show a different version for your device.

General setup flow
- Open the Galaxy Store and find Samsung’s Theme Park app from Good Lock Labs.
- Install it if the listing offers it for your phone.
- Open Theme Park and use its theme-creation controls to choose the design elements you want.
- Save the custom theme, then use the app’s install or apply control.
- Review the result in the Galaxy Themes area. If a particular app does not change, check whether that app and your Android version are supported.
Theme Park is therefore an advanced option rather than a promise that every app can receive an individual design. Its supported apps and functions can change with Android and app versions.
Try Colour palette when you only need coordinated colors
Samsung also documents Colour palette as a way to apply a coordinated palette to Samsung default app icons. It is different from downloading a Galaxy Themes icon pack: the palette adjusts supported Samsung artwork instead of replacing icons with a third-party-style set.
Samsung’s example was based on a Galaxy S22 running Android 12 with One UI 4.1. Samsung cautions that both availability and the interface vary by region, country, operating-system and One UI version, device and carrier. If Colour palette is present in your phone’s personalization settings, follow the colors shown there; if it is absent, that can reflect software or market availability rather than a fault.
Decide between a theme, icon pack and Theme Park
Choose a complete theme when
- You want the wallpaper, icons and Samsung app visuals to match.
- You are comfortable with possible changes to sounds, fonts or layout.
- The theme description lists the elements you want.
Choose an icon-only pack when
- Your wallpaper and current theme are already right.
- You want the smallest possible visual change.
- You accept that some installed apps may keep their original icons.
Choose Theme Park when
- Ready-made packs do not give you the color or per-app choices you need.
- Your phone offers the app and your target apps are supported.
- You are willing to check compatibility after Android or app updates.
Choose Colour palette when
- You want Samsung’s default icons to coordinate with a system color palette.
- Your model, carrier and One UI version expose the feature.
- You do not need a complete icon-pack replacement.
Troubleshooting common problems
The Themes option is missing
First confirm that you are on a Galaxy phone rather than a Galaxy Tab, since Samsung’s Galaxy Themes instructions are phone-specific. Then account for software, carrier and regional differences: Samsung explicitly says that menus and available settings can vary. In the United States, make sure you are signed in to a Samsung account, which Samsung lists as required for Galaxy Themes access.

The icon pack downloaded but did not apply
Downloading and applying are separate actions. Return to Menu > My stuff > Icons, select the downloaded set and tap Apply; confirm a second time if prompted. Selecting a pack in the store without completing this My stuff step leaves it downloaded but not active.
Only some icons changed
Galaxy Themes icon sets may not include every app. Check the set’s preview and accept that unsupported apps can retain their original artwork. Theme Park has a similar qualification: its Galaxy Store listing says supported apps and functions vary by app and Android version.
The phone changed my wallpaper or sounds too
That is expected when the selected item is a complete theme that includes those elements. Reopen My stuff > Themes and apply Default or another theme to reverse it. For a change limited to icons, use My stuff > Icons instead of applying a full theme.
A feature shown in a guide is not on your phone
Samsung’s own documentation warns that availability and interfaces differ by country, region, device, carrier, Android release and One UI version. The Colour palette example, for instance, was specifically based on a Galaxy S22 with Android 12 and One UI 4.1. Treat that example as a compatibility reference, not a guarantee for every Galaxy model.
You expected to select a photo for an icon
The documented Galaxy Themes icon workflow does not support substituting personal image files. Use one of the available icon sets, or investigate Theme Park only for the customization controls and app support it exposes on your particular software version.
A practical, low-risk personalization sequence
- Decide whether the wallpaper and other current visuals must stay unchanged.
- If they must stay, install an icon-only pack and apply it from My stuff > Icons.
- If you want a complete coordinated design, read a theme’s description, then apply it from My stuff > Themes.
- If neither gives enough control, check whether Theme Park is available for your phone and whether the apps you care about are supported.
- For a color-coordination adjustment using Samsung artwork, look for Colour palette, keeping its regional and software limitations in mind.
- If the result is not right, return to the same My stuff category and apply another item or Default.
This approach keeps the reversible choices separate: icon packs change icons, complete themes can change the whole visual package, and advanced tools depend on device and software support.
The Bottom Line
For icons only, use Themes > Icons and apply the pack from My stuff. Use a complete Galaxy Theme for a broader redesign, and Theme Park or Colour palette only when your phone exposes those options and their supported apps match what you want to customize.
