To reduce motion on a Galaxy Z Fold6, use Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements > Reduce animations. To make individual interface animations shorter or remove them, enable Developer options and adjust Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale. Samsung documents the first path specifically for the Fold6; Developer options labels and locations can differ on other Fold generations and software versions.
Which animation setting should you change?
There are two different ways to change animation behavior on a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. They solve related but not identical problems:

Start with Reduce animations if your priority is comfort, less movement, or a cleaner visual experience. Use Developer options when you want to tune how quickly menus open, screens transition, or app animations complete. You can use both, but test them separately so you know which change produced the result you want.
Turn on Reduce animations on a Galaxy Z Fold6
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 user manual says this setting reduces animation effects for people who are sensitive to animations or screen movement. It is the least risky and easiest route because it does not expose the rest of the testing-oriented Developer options menu.

- Tap Accessibility.
- Choose Vision enhancements.
- Find Reduce animations and switch it on.
After enabling it, move through the actions that normally bother you: open and close apps, switch between screens, and use the phone both folded and unfolded. The setting is intended to reduce effects, not to provide a numeric speed dial, so it may not make every transition complete in the same way as an animation-scale change.
If you cannot find the menu
Samsung notes that settings names and locations can vary by model and software version. Open Settings and use the search field for Reduce animations or animations. If the result does not appear, your Fold generation or installed software may use a different accessibility label, or may not expose the exact Fold6 route.
Enable Developer options for precise animation controls
Developer options are hidden by default on most Android devices. Samsung’s UK instructions, updated May 29, 2026, use the following activation sequence. You do not need a computer or a separate application.

- Tap About device or About phone. The wording depends on the model and software release.
- Open Software information.
- Scroll to Build number.
- Tap Build number seven times in succession.
- When prompted, enter the phone’s pattern, PIN, or password.
Android confirms that Developer options are enabled. The new menu appears somewhere in Settings, but Samsung does not promise one universal position for every Galaxy release. Use Settings search for Developer options if you do not immediately see it.
Why Samsung treats this menu differently
Samsung describes Developer options as tools for application development and testing. Changing unrelated switches can affect display behavior, performance, functionality, applications, and battery consumption. For animation speed, change only the three scale controls described below and leave other options alone.
Find and change the three animation scales
Open Settings > Developer options, then scroll through the drawing or animation-related entries. On Galaxy devices where the controls are present, look for these names:
- Window animation scale
- Transition animation scale
- Animator duration scale
The exact grouping and screen position can move between One UI versions. If Settings search supports it, search for Window animation scale or simply animation scale.

This controls the timing of window-opening and window-closing effects. Samsung’s support guidance says changing it affects screen transitions or app-launch speeds and can make them unusually fast, slow, or choppy. Select the value you want from the scale picker, then close it and launch an app to check the result.
Transition animation scale
This controls the duration of transitions between screens. A lower scale shortens the transition; selecting Off removes that animation. Check several types of movement after changing it, including moving between major Settings pages and switching between recently used screens.

Animator duration scale
This controls the duration used by animated interface elements and other animator-based effects. A lower value makes those effects finish sooner, while Off removes them where the system honors the setting. It is separate from the window and transition controls, so changing only one may leave other animations unchanged.
Choose a scale without making the interface uncomfortable
Samsung confirms the direction of the adjustment—lower scales shorten animations—but does not prescribe a particular number. The most suitable value depends on whether you want a subtle change, a nearly instantaneous interface, or no animation at all.

Change one scale at a time, use the phone for a minute, and then decide whether to change the next one. If you set all three to Off immediately, it is harder to identify which change caused an unexpected visual result.
A practical tuning procedure
This sequence lets you make the interface faster while preserving a reliable way back.
- Record the current value shown for each of the three scales. Do not assume every device starts with the same value.
- Change Window animation scale first, because it is the control Samsung explicitly associates with screen transitions and app-launch speed.
- Open and close several apps, move through Settings, and test both the cover and main displays.
- If the result is comfortable, change Transition animation scale and repeat the same checks.
- Change Animator duration scale last, then test animated controls and in-app interface elements.
- Stop when the phone feels responsive without becoming visually confusing. A faster setting is not automatically better if you rely on motion to follow what changed on screen.
If an app appears to ignore the new timing, that app may use its own animation behavior rather than the system scale. The Developer options setting is not a guarantee that every application will remove or shorten every effect.
Reduce motion without enabling the full Developer menu
For users who are sensitive to screen movement, the accessibility switch is usually the better first step. Samsung’s Fold6 manual describes it specifically as a way to reduce animation effects for this reason. It does not require exposing development and testing controls, and it avoids accidental changes to unrelated options.

- Use animation scales when you need separate control over windows, transitions, and animator durations.
- Use both only after testing the accessibility switch by itself; the combined result can remove more visual feedback than you expect.
Understand what the controls do not change
Animation scales change timing, not the phone’s processor, display refresh specification, or an app’s loading work. A shorter animation can make the interface feel more immediate, but it does not guarantee that an application will open faster if the app is still processing data. Likewise, a scale does not force every third-party app to follow the system value. An app can use its own effects, so judge the result by several apps rather than one screen.
The three controls are independent. Window animation scale may change the opening effect while leaving an in-app button animation untouched. Transition animation scale may affect movement between system screens without changing a particular app’s custom navigation. Animator duration scale covers animator-based effects, but “Off” still means only the effects that honor that setting are removed. This is why changing one entry at a time is more informative than applying the same value everywhere.
There is no purchase, accessory, repair tool, or paid service required. These are built-in settings on the phone. The practical requirement is simply access to the device’s Settings app and, for Developer options, the screen lock credential requested after the seven Build number taps.

Test the Fold in both screen configurations
A Z Fold presents more than one interface context, so verify a change on the cover display and the inner display. Open and close an app while folded, unfold it, switch between recent apps, and then repeat the process in reverse. Also check a split-screen or multiwindow task if that is part of your normal use; the point is to see whether the shorter timing remains understandable when the layout changes.
Do not judge the setting from a single launch. Check Settings pages, app switching, notifications, and an application that uses animated controls. If the phone feels fast but you lose track of which panel opened or closed, choose a less aggressive value. Motion can provide useful orientation, especially on the larger inner screen.
What to do if animations become too fast, slow, or choppy
Samsung Singapore support, updated September 11, 2026, specifically warns that changing window animation scale can make screen transitions or app launching “unusually fast, slow, or choppy.” Use the symptom to decide your next step.
The interface feels unnaturally abrupt
Return to Developer options and select a less aggressive value for the scale you changed. If you used Off, try a reduced value instead so that some visual feedback remains. Check the three scales individually rather than changing all of them at once.
Transitions appear slower than before
Select a lower scale for the affected control. Verify that you did not accidentally choose a value above the previous one, and test app launching after each adjustment.
Animations look uneven or choppy
Restore the original values you recorded before experimenting. Samsung advises reverting altered Developer options when behavior is unexpected. If temporary app crashes or system lag continue after you disable the changes, restart the phone.
You cannot locate Developer options
Search Settings for Developer options. If it is absent, repeat the activation path: About device/About phone > Software information > Build number, then tap Build number seven times and authenticate when prompted. Menu labels can differ by software version.
You cannot locate an animation scale
Search Settings for the full control name. Samsung’s general guidance does not promise identical labels or availability on every Galaxy Z Fold generation, so a missing control may reflect the device model or software release rather than a fault.
Restore the original behavior and hide Developer options
If you decide the changes are not useful, first restore the three scale values to the values you recorded. Samsung also advises turning off Developer options after reverting changes.

- Open Settings > Developer options.
- Set Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale back to their previous values.
- Turn off the main Developer options switch.
- If you still experience temporary crashes or system lag, restart the phone.
Turning off the menu is a safety measure, not a substitute for restoring an individual setting. Check the three scale entries before switching the main menu off.

If you enabled the accessibility switch and decide you want the original effects, return to Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements > Reduce animations and switch it off. On another Fold generation, use Settings search for Reduce animations or animations if the headings differ. This change is independent of the three Developer options scales, so check both places when troubleshooting an unexpected result.
Model and software differences on Galaxy Z Fold phones
The product-specific documentation available for this procedure is the EU-English Galaxy Z Fold6 user manual. It documents Reduce animations under Accessibility > Vision enhancements. That does not establish that every earlier or later Fold uses the same wording or path.
Samsung’s Developer options instructions are general Galaxy guidance rather than a promise of identical screens on every Fold generation. Depending on your model and One UI version:
