To use a different Netflix membership on a device, sign out of the account currently open and sign in with the other account. To change who is watching while keeping the same membership, switch profiles instead. A profile is a personalized space inside an account; changing profiles does not change the account credentials signed in on the device.
First, decide whether you mean a profile or an account
Netflix treats profiles and accounts differently. One account can have up to five profiles, according to the Netflix Help Center. Profiles keep viewing activity and preferences separate, but they share the same membership. If you need the device to use a different membership, you must sign out and sign in again.

Switch profiles without changing the account
Choose the profile menu and select the profile you want. Netflix lets users switch profiles even when they originally signed in using a secondary profile; this remains a profile change within the same account.
- TV or streaming device: Press Back to open the Netflix menu, select the profile icon, then choose another profile.
- Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad: Tap My Netflix at the lower right, tap the profile name at the top, then select a different profile.
- Web browser: Open the profile menu in the upper right and choose another profile.
If a Kids profile is active, exit Kids before selecting another profile. See Netflix’s profile-switching instructions if the menu differs on your device.

Sign in to a different Netflix account on your device
- Open Netflix’s profile or account menu and choose Sign out. The exact location varies by device. On many TVs, open the Netflix menu and look under Get Help for Sign out.
- At the sign-in screen, choose Sign In and enter the other account’s email address or phone number, then complete the authentication method shown.
- On a TV, follow the on-screen options. Depending on the device, Netflix may offer a QR code, browser activation, or credential entry with the remote.
Netflix lists netflix.com/tv2 as a browser sign-in route for TVs and netflix.com/atv for Apple TV in its sign-in instructions. Available methods vary by device, so follow the prompts displayed on your screen. Profile-specific sign-in can have different authentication limits from signing in with the primary account credentials.
Sign out of a device you cannot access
If you own the account and have an active subscription, use Manage Access and Devices to sign out a particular listed device, or select Sign Out of All Devices. Netflix says device entries can take up to 48 hours to appear. The list may also omit devices that have not been active recently or were used only for certain features, so it is recent-activity information rather than a complete, instant inventory. If Netflix shows a sign-up screen or the wrong account
Return to the sign-in screen and enter the email address or phone number for the account you intend to use. If Netflix does not recognize it, check whether the membership uses a different email address or is no longer active. Netflix notes that recent billing activity can help determine whether an account is still active. Its sign-in troubleshooting guidance covers this situation.
Changing an email address or password is a separate task
If you want to keep using the same membership but update its primary email or password, use account settings rather than switching accounts on the device. Netflix handles a profile’s email separately from the primary account email. Profile users can update their own contact information but cannot change another profile’s details, and profile email addresses or phone numbers must be unique. Changing the primary email may require identity confirmation, and an email already used on another account cannot be used as the replacement primary address. If you are removing access you do not recognize
If you receive a new sign-in notification you do not recognize, Netflix advises changing the password and signing out of all devices. The account owner can also review profile contact details and the device list in Manage Access and Devices. A location in a sign-in notification is based on the device’s IP address and does not necessarily identify a person’s precise physical location. See Netflix’s unrecognized sign-in guidance.

Netflix defines a Household as the devices connected to the internet at the main place where the account is watched. People outside that Household need their own account or may be eligible to be added as extra members, depending on the available options. Netflix’s Household guidance requires a country selection, so availability and terms are not universal. Signing in with another account does not itself change Household eligibility.
