The reliable method is to use the wrestling service’s own Cast or AirPlay control. Put your phone and the TV or streaming receiver on the same Wi‑Fi network, start the live event in the supported mobile app, tap its casting button, and choose the TV. If that button is absent, the service may not support casting for that event; use its TV app or a compatible cable instead.
A compatible TV or receiver does not make every wrestling stream castable. Support depends on the app, the live-event rights and restrictions, your phone’s operating system, and the receiving device.

What you need before trying to cast
Check these four points before troubleshooting the television. They determine whether casting is possible at all.
Recommended Free Tools
- A supported wrestling app: Casting starts inside an app that implements Google Cast, Roku casting or AirPlay. A receiver by itself cannot add casting to an app that does not provide it.
- A compatible destination: This can be a TV with built-in Google Cast, a Chromecast, Google TV Streamer (4K), a compatible Roku device or an AirPlay-compatible TV or receiver.
- The same local network: For Google Cast and Roku app casting, the phone and receiver should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. A guest network, isolated hotel network or mobile hotspot may prevent discovery.
- Live-event permission on that route: Some services support casting for on-demand video but restrict particular live events or devices. Check the wrestling provider’s current help page for the event you are watching.
You also need an active account and whatever subscription or event access the service requires. The exact sign-in and purchase rules vary by provider and country.

Choose the right method
| Method | How playback works | Typical requirements | When it is preferable |
|---|---|---|---|
| App casting with Google Cast | The receiver plays the selected stream while the phone supplies controls. | Cast-enabled wrestling app; Chromecast, Google TV Streamer (4K) or TV with Google Cast; same Wi-Fi. | Best when the app displays a Cast button and the event permits casting. |
| Roku app casting | A supported app sends the selected video to the Roku; the Roku app or channel may open automatically. | The matching app installed where required, a Roku device, same Wi-Fi and an app with Roku casting support. | Useful when your TV uses Roku and the service lists Roku as a supported destination. |
| AirPlay | An Apple device sends compatible playback to an AirPlay receiver. | Compatible iPhone or iPad, AirPlay-capable TV or receiver, same Wi-Fi and service support. | Use when the service shows an AirPlay control rather than a Google Cast control. |
| Screen mirroring | The TV duplicates the phone’s entire display; the phone remains central to playback and controls. | Platform-specific mirroring support, compatible phone and receiver, same network in many setups. | A fallback for content and devices that permit mirroring, not a guaranteed solution for protected live video. |
| Wired connection | A video adapter and cable send the phone’s display to the TV. | The correct adapter for the phone port, a suitable HDMI input and service permission for external display. | Useful when wireless discovery fails and the service supports wired output. |
| Native TV app | The television or streaming box runs the wrestling service directly. | A supported TV platform and the provider’s TV app or channel. | Often the cleanest alternative when mobile casting is blocked. |
Cast with Google Cast
Google’s casting instructions apply to Google Cast-enabled apps. They do not establish that every wrestling provider or live event supports the feature.
Step 1: Connect both devices to one Wi-Fi network
- Connect the phone to the Wi-Fi network you want to use.
- Connect the Chromecast, Google TV Streamer (4K) or TV with built-in Google Cast to that same network.
- If the receiver does not appear later, check that the phone has not switched to cellular data or a different access point.
Google Cast Help states: “Make sure the mobile device, tablet, or computer you’re using to cast is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast, Google TV Streamer (4K), or TV with Google Cast.” Treat this as a discovery requirement, not as proof that your wrestling service is compatible.
Step 2: Open the supported wrestling app
Use the provider’s current Android or iPhone/iPad app rather than a random web page. Sign in, open the live event and begin playback if the app requires playback before revealing its controls.

Step 3: Tap Cast and select the TV
- Look for the Cast icon, usually a rectangle with Wi-Fi waves.
- Tap it and wait for available receivers to appear.
- Select the TV, Chromecast or Google TV Streamer destination.
- Confirm that the event is now playing on the TV. Use the in-app controls to pause, seek or disconnect where the provider permits.
The icon can move between the video player and the app’s top navigation after an interface update. On iPhone or iPad, the app may ask for permission to access the local network; allow it if you want device discovery.
Stop casting
Tap the Cast control again and choose the disconnect or stop option. Closing the app is not a dependable way to end a session, because the receiver may continue playing until it receives a stop command or reaches the end of the stream.

Cast to a Roku device
Roku distinguishes app casting from screen mirroring. Roku app casting requires a compatible app, the same app or channel installed where Roku requires it, and a phone and Roku device on the same Wi-Fi network. Roku also notes that compatibility is not universal.
Roku app-casting steps
- Install or update the wrestling service’s mobile app on the phone.
- Install the corresponding Roku app or channel if the provider requires one.
- Connect the phone and Roku to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the mobile app, sign in and select the live event. Start playback if the cast control is hidden before playback.
- Tap the app’s casting icon and choose the Roku device.
- If the Roku channel opens automatically, wait for the event to load and use the supported controls in the app or on the Roku remote.
If the app has no Roku casting control, adding the channel to Roku does not guarantee that the phone app can send video to it. Check the provider’s device list instead of assuming that a similarly named channel is compatible.

During mirroring, the entire phone display appears on the TV. Roku’s support wording is explicit: “During a screen mirroring session, all actions are controlled on your mobile device.” This keeps the phone involved for navigation, playback and interruptions. Roku documents broader app-casting support across phones and tablets, while screen mirroring is limited to compatible Android and Windows devices; an iPhone or iPad therefore should not be assumed to mirror to every Roku model.
Use AirPlay from an iPhone or iPad
AirPlay is a separate protocol from Google Cast and Roku app casting. It works only when both the Apple device, the receiving TV or streaming device and the wrestling service support it.
- Connect the iPhone or iPad and the AirPlay-compatible TV or receiver to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the wrestling app and select the live event.
- Tap the AirPlay icon in the player, or open Control Center and use Screen Mirroring when the service specifically permits full-screen mirroring.
- Select the receiving TV or device and enter any code shown on the television.
- Return to the app to control playback. To stop, open the AirPlay control and select the phone or choose Stop Mirroring.
Roku’s media-sharing guidance says AirPlay 2 is available on compatible 4K Roku devices and requires the Apple device and Roku to share Wi-Fi. That platform support still does not override a wrestling service’s live-event restrictions.

When screen mirroring is the only visible option
Mirroring duplicates everything on the phone: menus, notifications, incoming calls and the video. It is not the same as tapping Cast inside a player.

- Controls: Playback, volume and navigation happen on the phone, not necessarily through the TV receiver.
- Compatibility: Mirroring support varies sharply by operating system and receiver. Roku’s documented support is narrower for mirroring than for app casting.
- Protected video: A service can block mirroring even when ordinary photos or videos mirror successfully. Do not treat a black screen as proof that the TV or receiver is broken.
Use mirroring only when the provider and both devices explicitly support it. A generic mirroring app cannot guarantee that protected live wrestling video will be accepted.
Try a wired phone-to-TV connection
If the service offers no Cast or AirPlay control, look for its guidance on a cable or adapter. A wired route may work where wireless discovery does not, but the adapter must match the phone’s connector and video-output capabilities, and the service may still block external displays.
- Identify the phone’s port and obtain the adapter appropriate for that model.
- Connect the adapter to the phone and an HDMI cable to the TV.
- Select the corresponding HDMI input on the TV.
- Open the wrestling app and start the event.
- If the TV shows a blank image or an error, check the provider’s external-display policy rather than repeatedly replacing cables.
Live-event guidance from Netflix, which carries several kinds of live programming, lists a cable or adapter as one possible way to watch on a TV while also warning that some devices do not support live streaming. That is an example of service-specific policy, not a universal promise for wrestling services.
Use the provider’s TV app when casting is blocked
A native TV app avoids the phone-to-receiver handoff. Search the TV’s app store for the exact wrestling service, sign in and check whether the live event is listed there. This can succeed when the mobile app deliberately disables casting or when a particular live event has a device restriction.

Provider documentation is the authority for its own catalog. A page titled “Watch WWE Network on Google Chromecast,” for example, describes the Chromecast process for the content covered on that page; it should not be generalized to every current live offering. NJPW WORLD’s “To watch on TV” guidance similarly lists provider-specific TV options, including Chromecast as surfaced in its help information. Confirm the current page for your country and event because app names, rights and supported devices can change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the TV does not appear
Different networks or network isolation
Recheck the Wi-Fi name on both devices. A guest SSID, hotel login network, VPN configuration or router setting that isolates wireless clients can prevent discovery even when both devices show an internet connection. Temporarily place both on the primary home network and retry.
The app does not support casting
Look in the live player itself for Cast or AirPlay. If neither control exists after playback begins, check the service’s device-help page. A compatible receiver cannot create a missing app feature.
The control is hidden
Update the mobile app, force-close and reopen it, then start the event again. Some interfaces reveal the icon only after a video is selected. On iOS, review the app’s Local Network permission in Settings if Google Cast devices are not discovered.
The receiving app or channel is missing
For Roku, confirm that the matching channel is installed on the Roku account or device when the provider requires it. Sign out and back in if the channel is present but refuses the handoff.

The event is restricted
Test a short on-demand clip from the same service. If that casts but the live event does not, the likely issue is an event or device rule rather than Wi-Fi. Move to the provider’s native TV app or an officially supported wired connection.
The phone or receiver is unsupported
Check the service’s current list for your phone operating-system version and TV or receiver model. Roku’s mirroring requirements are especially narrower than its app-casting requirements, so a successful cast from a supported app does not prove that mirroring will work.
A practical decision path
- See a Cast button? Use it, with both devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
- See an AirPlay button? Use AirPlay with a compatible Apple device and receiver.
- No wireless control? Check whether the provider has a native TV app.
- No TV app? Check the provider’s wired-display guidance and use the correct adapter.
- Only mirroring is offered? Confirm that the phone, receiver and live event all support mirroring before relying on it.
Optional equipment: adding Google Cast to a TV
If the TV lacks built-in Google Cast, a Google Cast receiver such as Google TV Streamer (4K) can provide a compatible destination. Set it up on the same Wi-Fi network and then follow the app-casting steps. Buying a receiver does not remove a wrestling service’s app-level or live-event restriction, and current price, stock and regional availability are not established here.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat a successful setup looks like
- The wrestling app visibly reports that it is connected to the selected TV or receiver.
- The TV shows the event while the phone remains available for supported playback controls.
- Disconnecting from the app stops the receiver’s session.
- If you are mirroring instead, the whole phone display is visible and every action remains controlled on the phone.
For the most dependable result, use the provider’s own Cast, AirPlay or TV-app instructions for the exact event, country and device model. Platform-level compatibility is only the first requirement; the wrestling service must authorize that live stream on the route you choose.
