First check which broadcaster carries the match in your location, then cast from that service’s phone app using its supported route. For Watch NRL, that means Chromecast from the Watch NRL app or AirPlay from an iPhone or iPad; Kayo has a separate Chromecast setup for its Australian viewers.
Choose the broadcaster for your location and match
NRL streaming rights vary by territory, and a service’s listing does not guarantee it carries every fixture. Start with the NRL live directory, then check the match listing on the relevant service.

Watch NRL describes itself as the international service, offering live and on-demand NRL coverage, and says it is unavailable in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. The Watch NRL service information explains its territory limits. The NRL Official App is not a universal live-match streaming service: the NRL describes it as offering content such as highlights, press conferences and replays, while live matches are carried by broadcast partners. Cast Watch NRL from a phone or tablet
Watch NRL’s supported options include Chromecast through its mobile app, AirPlay from an Apple device and the Watch NRL app on compatible Apple TV hardware. Its compatibility list can change, so check the current device and browser requirements if your device or software version is not listed.

Before you start
- Confirm Watch NRL is available where you are and that you have an active subscription.
- If you need to subscribe, complete signup in a web browser; Watch NRL’s TV instructions say signup is not available through the TV app.
- Choose a live stream or on-demand stream. Watch NRL says Chromecast cannot cast downloaded content.
Use Chromecast with the Watch NRL app
- Install or open the Watch NRL app on your phone or tablet and sign in.
- Connect to a supported receiver: Watch NRL currently lists Chromecast 3rd Generation and Chromecast with Google TV.
- Start the stream in the app, tap the cast control and select your Chromecast.
Watch NRL says Chromecast casting is available through its app, not its website in a browser. If you have opened Watch NRL in a phone browser, switch to the app instead.
Use AirPlay or Apple TV
On an iPhone or iPad, use AirPlay from the Watch NRL app to a compatible TV or Apple TV. You can also install the Watch NRL app directly on Apple TV; the current support page lists Apple TV (4th generation or later) running tvOS 19 or later. Check that page for the latest minimum requirements.

- App Limitations: Please be aware that certain apps with "HDCP" protocol, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Videos, Hulu, Comcast TV, Xfinity, Vudu, Sky Go, BT Sport, may not be supported due to copyright protection.
Avoid unsupported Watch NRL TV routes
Watch NRL says smart-TV web browsers and smart-TV apps are unsupported, and warns that HDMI connections can cause playback problems. Use one of its listed app-and-receiver options instead. Its TV streaming instructions describe the available routes.

- Open the Kayo app on your phone and sign in.
- Make sure the phone and Chromecast are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Tap the cast control, choose the Chromecast, then select the fixture you want to watch.
Kayo recommends Chromecast Ultra or later and names Chromecast 3rd Generation and Chromecast with Google TV among its examples. Check Kayo’s Chromecast instructions for its current device guidance.

Choose the route that fits your setup
- Check rights first: confirm the service carries the fixture in your country before troubleshooting casting.
- Use the service’s app: Watch NRL documents Chromecast through its app; Kayo provides a separate Chromecast flow.
- Use hardware you already have: a compatible Chromecast or Apple TV can provide a supported route. If AirPlay or a receiver you own works, there may be no need to buy additional hardware.
- Check the content state: Watch NRL’s Chromecast route does not cast downloaded content.
