Start with the item’s own care instructions
Pokémon merchandise spans clothing, plush, toys, home items, and more. The official Pokémon merchandise catalog and Pokémon Parents merchandise guide show that range, but they do not establish one care standard for every product.

- Look for a sewn-in care label on apparel or a care tag on plush and other soft items.
- Check the product’s official listing or instructions for cleaning and drying directions.
- If the instructions are missing, contact the manufacturer or seller. Pokémon Support explains that many books, toys, and other products are supported by their manufacturer; see its product-support guidance.
How do I clean Pokémon apparel?
Use the garment’s sewn-in care label as the authority. The official sources confirm that Pokémon clothing is sold, but they do not establish common settings for washing, drying, ironing, or treating stains across shirts, hoodies, bags, and other apparel. Do not assume a particular temperature, cycle, detergent, or dryer setting applies to every licensed garment.
If the label is absent or unreadable, seek instructions from the item’s manufacturer or seller before washing. Printed decoration, fabric, and construction can vary, so an instruction for one Pokémon garment does not automatically apply to another.

How do I wash a Pokémon plush?
Read the plush’s tag and product page first. Only use a washing method that the item’s own instructions allow. Some individual Pokémon plush are explicitly described as hand washable, but that does not make hand washing suitable for every plush.
Follow the directions for the exact model
For example, the US Pokémon Center listing for Jigglypuff Pokémon Comfy Cuddlers Plush says: “Gently hand wash the plush in warm water, then pat it down with a towel before hanging it up to dry.” This is a model-specific instruction, not a general rule for Pokémon plush.

Pokémon Japan has also announced particular hand-washable plush lines: a July 2022 announcement covered six plush, and a July 2024 announcement described seven additional plush and advised drying them well after washing. Those announcements are examples for the named products; consult the current item’s directions rather than applying them to other plush.

Use a washing machine only if the item’s own label or manufacturer instructions explicitly permit it. Be especially cautious when a plush has electronic parts, weighted filling, glued-on pieces, delicate details, or a surface-clean-only instruction. If the care directions do not authorize washing, do not extrapolate from instructions for a different plush.

How should I clean Pokémon collectibles?
Identify the materials and check the item’s own instructions before cleaning. The official merchandise sources cover a broad range of products but do not provide universal care directions for figures, cards, pins, textiles, or other collectibles.
If instructions are unavailable, gentle dry dusting may be a conservative option for a suitable hard surface. Avoid liquids and cleaning products when the materials or finish are uncertain; they could affect surfaces, printed details, or other components. This is cautious general advice, not a Pokémon-specific care rule.

How should I store Pokémon collectibles?
Preserve any label, packaging, or product guidance that came with the item. The official sources reviewed do not establish a general Pokémon standard for collectible storage, including specific humidity levels, UV protection, or storage materials. Without item-specific instructions, avoid treating a particular container or display setup as required.
