The e-Committee’s eCourts Services Portal is a gateway to High Court and District Court services. Its case-status service lists lookup routes that include case number, FIR number, party name, advocate name, filing number, Act, and case type. Daily orders and final judgments are also accessible through several search parameters.

A successful search can show case details, case status, hearing history, and orders. These services are a family of sites, not a single uniform page. The selected court determines the available search fields, page structure, and result markup. Open the exact official service first and inspect its current interface before deciding how Selenium will locate and submit the form.

Selenium’s screenshot API saves image data returned by the browser’s screenshot endpoint, which is Base64-encoded. Keep the viewport and browser zoom consistent if you are comparing captures. Record which court service and search route you used, when you captured it, and whether the image shows the whole browser view or only a result element.
Build the Selenium workflow around the target court
- Start WebDriver and open the official page. Use the service for the intended court, rather than assuming the central gateway and every court site behave alike.
- Complete a supported lookup. Use the route exposed by that page. CNR is one documented route; case number, filing number, party name, advocate, FIR, Act, or case type may also be available, but not necessarily on every page.
- Wait for the result state. Wait for a case-history heading or a known result container to become visible after submission. A navigation or page-load signal alone may not mean JavaScript-rendered results have updated.
- Capture and close cleanly. Save the browser view, the result element, or both, then quit the WebDriver session in a
finallyblock.
Python example
This runnable pattern uses a CSS selector for the result container, but the URL, form interaction, and selector must be adapted to the court service you select. The example assumes that page has already been configured to reach or submit the lookup; no single locator or search workflow is established across Indian court portals.

Use an explicit wait tied to something that signals the result is ready, such as a visible case-history heading or result container. A fixed delay can finish too early on a slow response or waste time on a fast one. Selenium recommends explicit waits for specific conditions and cautions that mixing implicit and explicit waits can cause unpredictable timing. See the Selenium wait documentation.

Choose a condition that represents the result you intend to capture, not merely the presence of a page shell or search form. If the target page updates results in place, wait for the result container or relevant text to become visible after submission. The illustrative 20-second timeout is a starting value in the example, not a guarantee that every court service will respond within that period.

A screenshot records what the page showed at a particular time; it is not a substitute for a fresh lookup on the official service. The official app FAQ says an active internet connection is required to access updated case information. Keep the court service, lookup route, capture time, and relevant case identifier in the surrounding record so someone reviewing the image can understand its context.
Check the usage terms for the exact court site before running recurring automation or redistributing captures. The reviewed official material does not establish one common automation, rate-limit, storage, or republication rule for every portal. If the applicable terms do not answer your deployment question, ask the site administrator. The eCourts home page identifies NIC as site maintainer and displays a last-updated date of 11 April 2026; re-check the selected service because interfaces and terms can change.

The script times out waiting for the result
- Confirm the lookup was submitted using the page’s actual controls and that the selected court and search route are valid.
- Inspect the page after submission: the result may use a different container or heading from the illustrative
.case-resultselector. - Wait for a result-specific visible condition rather than assuming that a completed navigation means the dynamic content is ready.
- Adjust the timeout to fit the service’s observed response time, while retaining a condition-based wait.
The screenshot is blank or shows the search form
- Check that the result condition refers to the updated result, not an element already present before the lookup.
- If the page updates without a navigation, wait for the relevant result text or state to appear after submission.
- Verify that the browser is on the intended court service and that the search completed successfully.
The locator works on one court page but not another
That is expected when portals have different layouts and markup. Inspect the selected page and adapt its search controls and result locator; do not assume one selector covers the central gateway and every court service.
The captured content is difficult to verify
Decide whether the reviewer needs page context or only the result block, then use the corresponding screenshot method. Keep viewport and zoom consistent for comparisons and preserve the court, route, and capture time alongside the image.
