Capture that region when it fits on screen; use a full-page or scrolling capture only when the necessary details are separated. Review the saved image to make sure the chosen option is unmistakable.
Make the selected variant clear before you capture
- Open the product page and select the exact size, color, or other option you want to document.
- Check that the option is visibly selected. If the page changes the product image or price for that variant, confirm those have updated too.
- Adjust the page or window so the selected value and its associated product image appear together. Keep enough product context, such as the name or price, if needed to identify what the screenshot shows.
- Capture the smallest area that preserves the necessary evidence. Use a full-page or scrolling capture when the relevant details do not fit together on screen.
- Open the saved screenshot and verify that the intended selection is legible and still appears selected. If the page did not update, select the option again and capture a new image.
For Shopify stores, a variant is a combination of option values, and a merchant can assign an image to a variant. The assigned image can appear as the preview when a customer chooses that variant, while related images may remain in the media gallery. Store behavior varies with theme implementation; Shopify also describes its Combined Listings app as a plan-dependent way to show specific image groups for an option. Choose a capture method for your device

When the selected size or image does not match
- The label looks selected, but the product image is unchanged: allow the page to finish updating, then check the option and image again. A theme may implement variant interactions differently; Shopify’s guidance expects the selector, product media, and price to reflect the selected variant.
- The price still reflects another option: reselect the intended variant and wait for the displayed price to refresh before capturing.
- The option and image will not fit together: resize the browser or adjust the page position first. If they remain separated, use a full-page or scrolling capture, then ensure the selected control remains readable in the saved result.
- The screenshot is too cropped to identify the item: recapture with the product name, matching image, selected value, and any relevant price in frame.

Should I use a full-page screenshot for a product variant?
Only when the selected option and its associated product details cannot be framed together in a shorter capture. A focused region usually makes the selection easier to verify.

What should a product-variant screenshot show?
At minimum, show the selected size or other option and the corresponding product image. Include identifying context such as the product name or relevant price when needed.
