To confirm that PageCrawl reached the protected page rather than stopping at the login screen, configure a Login check using content visible only after sign-in. This is a monitoring setup and diagnostic workflow, not a documented general-purpose screenshot-download service. PageCrawl Help Center documents the feature as available on paid plans.
What the PageCrawl login screenshot shows
PageCrawl uses Website Logins to authenticate before it checks a monitored page. During Test the login, it reports the steps and provides a screenshot of the location reached at the end of the sign-in attempt. That image helps diagnose whether the configured login worked; the documentation does not describe it as a separate workflow for requesting and downloading arbitrary screenshots of authenticated pages.

A login attempt can return a normal page response even when authentication was rejected. The resulting screenshot and a signed-in-only Login check help distinguish a successful sign-in from a test that quietly ended on a login or error page.
Set up a form-based login and inspect the result
- In PageCrawl, open Website Logins and select Add New.
- Enter the login page address. PageCrawl attempts to identify the username field, password field, and submit button. If it does not identify them correctly, choose Pick the fields on the page and select the fields yourself. Check the selector feedback: it indicates whether a selector matches one element, several, or none.
- Enter credentials for an account authorized to view the protected content.
- If the form is revealed only after an action—for example, dismissing a cookie notice or selecting a Sign in link—add that action under Pre-login steps.
- Select Test the login. Review the reported steps and the screenshot of the location reached. Confirm visually that the destination is the expected signed-in page, not a login form, access-denied page, or unrelated redirect.
- Configure a Login check using a reliable marker that appears only after successful sign-in, such as the account name or a Sign out link. Do not use text that also appears while signed out. PageCrawl can identify a failed check as Login verification failed instead of treating it as an ordinary content change.
- Add the protected page as a monitor and choose the matching configuration under Login Authentication.
The test screenshot is evidence of where the test flow ended. Do not assume this setup creates a permanent screenshot archive; the help documentation describes authentication for monitoring and login verification.

Choose the right authentication path

These are separate configurations. Use the one that matches the authentication mechanism the target actually presents.
Two-factor authentication and supported content
Authenticator-app codes
The PageCrawl Help Center documents TOTP from an authenticator-app secret or an otpauth:// link. Its help article says authenticator-app codes work on any paid plan, including Standard. PageCrawl describes reusing the signed-in session between checks; the code step therefore runs at initial sign-in or after that session expires, rather than at every check.

Emailed codes
The documented email-code options are forwarding codes to a PageCrawl-generated address or sending them to the account email address configured for that purpose. Email delivery can be slow enough to exceed the tighter Standard per-check time budget. The help article recommends Enterprise or Ultimate for emailed-code flows; confirm current plan entitlements with PageCrawl before choosing a plan, because they can change.

Unsupported factors and protected files
The help article says SMS codes and physical security keys are not supported. It also says a login configuration can be selected for authenticated PDF, Excel, CSV, and Word files, and that you can create multiple login configurations for different sites.

Troubleshoot a test that does not reach the protected page
- It stops at the login form or the fields are not found: Re-pick the username, password, or submit fields with Pick the fields on the page, especially if the site has changed its form.
- A cookie notice or overlay blocks the form: Add a dismissal or other necessary interaction under Pre-login steps.
- The site asks for a username before showing the password field: Add a pre-login action to reveal the next field before submitting credentials.
- The site requests a one-time code: Enable a supported one-time-code method in the login configuration. SMS and physical security keys are not supported in the documented flow.
- The test appears to finish, but the monitor sees the wrong page: Inspect the test screenshot and set a Login check to a marker found only after sign-in. A normal page response by itself does not establish that authentication succeeded.
- An emailed code times out: Check delivery and the per-check time budget. The help article warns that email can be too slow for Standard and recommends Enterprise or Ultimate for these flows; verify current plan details before upgrading.
PageCrawl’s suggestions address common form and code issues; they do not guarantee support for every identity provider or challenge. Its official blog describes browser actions before the target URL is opened and a signed-in session reused until expiration.
