For a modest list of Indian news article URLs, the most controllable approach is a local Playwright script: read one URL per line, visit each page in a browser, save a screenshot with a predictable filename, and log the outcome in a manifest. Use viewport captures to record what appeared in a fixed window, or full-page captures when you need the scrollable page. Test a few representative URLs before running the whole list; publishers differ in how they load content, and a successful navigation does not guarantee a complete article capture.
Choose what the screenshots need to show
Viewport capture
A viewport screenshot records the visible browser window at the dimensions you set. It is useful for comparing above-the-fold layouts or preserving what a reader first sees. It does not include content farther down the page.

Full-page capture
A full-page screenshot extends the capture across the scrollable page. The Playwright project documentation describes it as: “Full page screenshot is a screenshot of the full scrollable page, as if you had a very tall screen and the page could fit it entirely.” Very long pages can produce large images, and sticky elements, lazy-loaded images, overlays, or dynamically changing content may affect the result.
For comparisons or records, use the same viewport, full-page setting, image format, and wait strategy for every URL. Note those settings with the results so someone reviewing the files later knows what each image represents.
Capture a list locally with Playwright
This Node.js example processes a text file sequentially, using a fresh page for each URL. It saves PNG screenshots and a CSV manifest with the input URL, final URL, capture time, status, output filename, and any error. It continues after a failed URL so one inaccessible page does not stop the batch.

1. Install Playwright and prepare the URL list

Install Node.js, then create a project folder and install Playwright:

urls.txtin the project folder. Put one absolutehttps://article URL on each line. Keep the original order; the row number is part of each screenshot filename. -
Save the following script as
capture.mjs.
2. Run the batch
Run node capture.mjs. The script creates a screenshots directory containing the images and manifest.csv. Edit FULL_PAGE and the viewport constants near the top before capture if your use case needs different settings.

domcontentloaded waits for the initial document to be parsed, not for every late-running script, advertisement, image, or article widget. Open a few output images and inspect the failed rows in the manifest. If a publisher renders the article later, adjust the wait strategy for that site and verify the result before applying it across the list. Do not assume that one wait condition works for every publisher.
The example uses a fresh page for each URL and processes requests sequentially. That keeps page state isolated and makes failures easier to trace. Add concurrency only after measuring how the publishers and your machine behave; simultaneous navigation can increase load on sites and make results harder to diagnose.

Choose rendering location and handle access responsibly
If a publisher varies its page by geography, the capture reflects the network and browser environment from which the script runs. Running it on a machine in India is one way to capture from an Indian network location; this script does not independently select or guarantee a location. Location-specific content, restrictions, and publisher behavior can still differ.
Do not use screenshot automation to bypass a login, paywall, CAPTCHA, or other access control. If a page is unavailable through ordinary authorized access, record the failure and seek an authorized route. Capturing a page that you can access does not itself establish permission to redistribute or publish its screenshot. Check the publisher’s terms and obtain permission where required; this is a practical caution, not a legal determination about a particular use in India.

Troubleshooting incomplete or failed captures

Navigation timeout: the page did not reach the selected navigation event before the timeout, or the site was slow or unreachable. Check the URL and network, then test a longer timeout or a different wait condition on that site. A timeout is not proof that the page can never be captured.

Screenshot exists but article content is missing: the capture may have happened before delayed rendering or lazy loading completed. Inspect the page manually, wait for a known article selector or a suitable delay, and retest a sample. Avoid applying a site-specific selector to unrelated publishers.

Consent screen, popup, or chat widget covers the article: inspect the capture and decide whether to dismiss or hide the overlay where permitted. Do not mistake a blocked or consent-gated page for a complete article record.

Blank or partial image: confirm that navigation succeeded, inspect the final URL and manifest error, and repeat one URL interactively to distinguish a transient load problem from a site-specific rendering issue.

Files are too large or hard to compare: use a consistent viewport and consider a more compact image format or CSS-scale output when supported. Preserve enough resolution for readable text, and keep the capture settings with the manifest.

Filename collisions: the sample names files by input row and hostname, so duplicate URLs retain distinct filenames. If you change the naming scheme to use URL slugs, sanitize path characters and retain a row identifier to preserve traceability.

Can I use a CSV instead of a plain text file?
Yes. Read the URL column with a CSV parser rather than splitting every row on commas; URLs and quoted CSV fields can contain characters that make naive parsing unreliable.

Should I capture every page concurrently?
Not by default. Begin sequentially, inspect the output, and increase concurrency only after checking site behavior and local resource use. A large queue may also be subject to a hosted provider’s documented limits.
Does a screenshot prove what every reader in India saw?
No. It records one capture environment at one time. Publisher content can vary by location, session, device size, and page state.
