Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

A normal WebDriver window screenshot is not a guaranteed full-page capture, so choose the capture area and viewport deliberately.
Capture a product page as a PNG with Python
This example uses Selenium’s Python Chromium WebDriver. It waits for a product title to become visible, sets a repeatable browser-window size, saves the visible window as a PNG, checks whether saving succeeded, and closes the browser.

Install Selenium with python -m pip install selenium. Selenium Manager can handle driver setup for supported browsers; make sure a compatible browser is installed. Replace the example URL and title selector with values for a page you are authorized to access.
from pathlib import Path
from selenium import webdriver
from selenium.webdriver.common.by import By
from selenium.webdriver.support import expected_conditions as EC
from selenium.webdriver.support.ui import WebDriverWait
url = "https://example.com/product"
output = Path("product-page.png")
options = webdriver.ChromeOptions()
# Uncomment to run without a visible browser window:
# options.add_argument("--headless=new")
driver = webdriver.Chrome(options=options)
try:
driver.set_window_size(1440, 1100)
driver.get(url)
# Replace this selector with one that identifies the product title.
WebDriverWait(driver, 30).until(
EC.visibility_of_element_located((By.CSS_SELECTOR, "h1"))
)
saved = driver.get_screenshot_as_file(str(output))
if not saved:
raise OSError(f"Selenium could not save the screenshot to {output}")
if not output.exists() or output.stat().st_size == 0:
raise OSError(f"Screenshot file is missing or empty: {output}")
print(f"Saved {output.resolve()}")
finally:
driver.quit()
The Selenium Python Chromium WebDriver API describes get_screenshot_as_file(filename) as saving a PNG of the current window; its file-saving method returns False on an I/O error. It also provides save_screenshot, screenshot bytes, and Base64 output. See the Selenium Python Chromium WebDriver API.

Choose the capture area and output
| Need | Use | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Visible browser-window composition | driver.get_screenshot_as_file("page.png") or driver.save_screenshot("page.png") |
PNG of the current window, not a documented guarantee of the entire page height. |
| One product region, such as the main image or details panel | Locate the element and call its screenshot method, for example element.screenshot("product.png"). |
A focused element capture; do not assume it includes every off-screen or lazily rendered part of the page. |
| Image data for further processing | Use the WebDriver screenshot bytes or Base64 output methods. | Data can be handled in memory instead of first saving a file; choose the form that fits the next step. |
Selenium’s official windows and tabs documentation includes browser and selected-element screenshot examples. If the product image is the target, use an image-specific selector rather than capturing the entire visible page:
image = driver.find_element(By.CSS_SELECTOR, "img.product-image")
if not image.screenshot("product-image.png"):
raise OSError("Could not save product image screenshot")
Change img.product-image to a selector that exists on the retailer’s page. The example is not a universal retailer selector.

Wait for the content you actually need
Navigation completing does not necessarily mean every image, price, or delivery detail has appeared. Retail pages may render content asynchronously or load imagery as it enters view. Wait for a meaningful condition—such as a visible title or main image—instead of relying on one fixed sleep duration for every site.
- For a product title, wait until its element is visible.
- For a main image, wait for the image element and, if relevant to your capture, check that it has loaded.
- For a price or availability field, wait for that specific field rather than assuming the title’s appearance means all product details are ready.
- If a page uses lazy-loaded content below the fold, a current-window screenshot may not include it. The documented screenshot methods cited here do not establish a universal full-page capture procedure.
Selectors and wait conditions are page-dependent. Inspect the authorized page and choose a stable element that represents the content your screenshot needs to show.
Rank #3
Make viewport captures comparable
Viewport dimensions affect responsive layout, so a desktop capture and a mobile-sized capture are different scenarios. Set the window size before navigation when repeatability matters, and record the dimensions with your output. Selenium’s windows and tabs examples demonstrate reading and setting window dimensions.
driver.set_window_size(390, 844) # example mobile-sized window
print(driver.get_window_size())
The set dimensions describe the browser window; they should not be treated as proof that every browser configuration will expose an identical page viewport. Keep browser, viewport, and capture target consistent when comparing screenshots.

Check the saved image and troubleshoot failures
- No file or an I/O error: use a writable output path, ensure the parent directory exists, and check the Boolean returned by the file-saving method.
- The screenshot is blank or missing product details: wait for the actual title, image, or other target element to become visible before capture; inspect the image afterward for overlays or incomplete content.
- The screenshot shows a bot check or challenge: the capture reflects what the browser received. Do not treat Selenium as a way to bypass access controls; follow the retailer’s applicable terms and use authorized access.
- The main image is absent: confirm that the image element is present and loaded, and that the selector identifies the intended image. A visible page title alone does not establish that image loading is complete.
- A long page is cut off: the documented WebDriver window screenshot captures the current window, not a guaranteed full-page image. Select a specific element if that meets the need, or use a separately verified approach appropriate to the browser and page.
- Desktop and mobile results differ: check the window dimensions and repeat the capture under the same viewport conditions.
Use product-page screenshots responsibly
Indian ecommerce product pages can show images, prices, availability, delivery information, seller details, and surrounding page content. Be clear about which region and viewport your capture represents. Amazon India’s seller product image guide addresses seller-submitted images displayed on Amazon product detail pages; it is not permission to automate browsing or republish a screenshot. Check the relevant retailer’s terms and use authorized pages, accounts, and data.

ScreenshotNeo offers a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. A single GET request can return an image or PDF; the service can accept cookie banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, with each step optional. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server includes tools for AI agents to take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 shots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Selenium’s regular screenshot method capture the entire product page?
The documented Python Chromium WebDriver methods capture the current window; they do not establish a guaranteed full-page capture.
Can I save a product screenshot as something other than a PNG?
The cited Selenium Python WebDriver screenshot methods save PNG files; the API also exposes screenshot data as bytes or Base64 for downstream handling.
