Use Selenium WebDriver’s screenshot API to save the current browser view as a PNG: navigate to the exact court-service page, wait for the content you need to appear, then call driver.save_screenshot("court-page.png"). Court portals differ, so choose a page-specific wait condition and check the target site’s terms before automating access.
Capture a court page as a PNG with Python and Selenium
This runnable example opens a page, waits for a page-specific element, saves the current browser view, and always closes the browser. Replace the example URL and CSS selector with the exact court page and a stable element on that page.

Selenium Manager can help manage browser drivers for supported setups, but the browser itself must be installed. The example uses Chrome; use a browser supported by your Selenium installation and verify behavior against the browser and version you deploy.
Choose the exact court service first
The eCourts portal links to High Court services, High Court NJDG, District Court services, District Court NJDG, e-Filing, e-Pay, Virtual Courts, and other services. Identify the precise destination before writing automation; a link from the portal may lead to a separately maintained site. The eCourts portal overview describes its range of services, and its accessibility statement notes that linked external websites are maintained by their respective departments.

What the screenshot contains
save_screenshot saves a PNG of the current browsing context or window. It should not be assumed to capture an entire long page in every browser. If you need a full-page image, verify a method supported by your chosen browser and version rather than treating the basic WebDriver screenshot call as cross-browser full-page capture.
For a single item, such as a visible order heading or result table, Selenium also provides element screenshots. Use a selector that identifies the intended element on the exact target page; court services do not share a universal page structure. See the Selenium element screenshot documentation.

Wait for the content, not just the page load
WebDriver’s default page-load strategy waits for the document’s complete state, but that does not guarantee that dynamically rendered content is ready. A single-page application may fetch or display results after the initial document load. The Selenium browser options guide describes the normal, eager, and none strategies: eager waits for DOM content to load, while none does not block on page loading. If you use either alternative, add an explicit wait for the state you need.

- For a case search, wait for the specific result row or result message.
- For an order page, wait for its order heading or document viewer to appear.
- For a page that updates after an interaction, wait for the resulting content rather than a fixed delay alone.
The sample’s main selector is only illustrative: it may appear before the useful content, or not exist at all. Replace it with a visible, page-specific selector. A timeout is preferable to silently saving a screenshot before the intended result has appeared.

Choose between a window screenshot and an element screenshot

Respect the target site’s terms and the status of court information
Do not assume that one permission or automation policy applies to every Indian court website. The eCourts terms say that external linked websites are subject to their owners’ or sponsors’ privacy and security policies; they do not establish blanket permission for automated access to every linked service or a universal Selenium rate limit. A screenshot is a visual capture of a webpage, not an authenticated court record. The eCourts terms state: “The documents and information displayed in this website are for reference purposes only and do not purport to a legal document.” The current eCourts portal disclaimer likewise says online information is not intended as legal evidence and advises checking with relevant authorities or records. Verify important information against the appropriate official source.
If you plan to republish a screenshot, check the rights for the exact page and its materials. The eCourts copyright policy says site content should not be reproduced without prominently acknowledging its source, and that its permission does not extend to third-party copyrighted material. That policy concerns the eCourts site; check the specific target site and any third-party content shown in your capture.

Troubleshoot common capture problems
- The screenshot is blank or lacks the case details: The page may still be rendering dynamic content, or the selector may indicate only that the page shell loaded. Wait for the visible result, heading, or viewer that matters.
- The wait times out: Confirm that the URL opens in the chosen browser, then inspect the page for a selector that exists and becomes visible in the expected state. A court service may redirect to another site or present a different page than expected.
- The output is not the whole long page: The basic screenshot call captures the current browsing context; do not assume full-page behavior. Validate a browser-specific full-page approach if that scope is required.
- The selector works on one court page but not another: Court websites and services can have different structures. Maintain a selector and readiness condition for each target instead of reusing one universal selector.
- The browser does not start: Check that a supported browser is installed and that your Selenium setup can locate or manage its driver. Keep the browser and Selenium versions compatible and review the error emitted by the local setup.
- The image exists but is not suitable for legal or official use: A screenshot does not authenticate the underlying information. Consult the relevant court authority or record and follow the target site’s terms.
