You can screenshot an age verification prompt without passing it, as long as it is visible in the browser. The image records only what that browser session can currently display; it does not unlock or authorize access to the product content behind the prompt. For repeat captures, use an authorized browser session and choose viewport, element, or full-page capture to match what you need to document.
Choose what the screenshot needs to show
First decide whether you are documenting the gate itself, one component, or the accessible page around it. Playwright supports viewport, element, and full-page screenshots; its screenshot API also exposes options such as output path, image type, scale, and clipping. - Viewport: captures the visible browser area, which is usually the clearest evidence of how the age prompt appears to a visitor.

Manual capture
- Open the product page in a browser and leave the prompt in the state you want to record.
- Use the browser’s built-in screenshot feature or operating-system capture shortcut. Keep the prompt and enough surrounding page context visible to make the image understandable.
- Save the image without altering the prompt or implying that the page content was accessible.
Repeatable capture with Playwright
For repeated captures, use a browser session authorized to view the relevant page state. This Node.js example opens the URL and saves the visible viewport as a PNG. Install Playwright and its browser first; set the target URL and output filename for your own run.

Do not falsify age information, tamper with the gate, or use undocumented workarounds.
Capture an element or the full page
With Playwright, target an element locator for a component capture:

A screenshot is a record of a rendered state, not proof that a viewer had permission to access hidden content. If the image will be reviewed later, store its context alongside it:
- The exact page URL and capture date and time.
- Browser and version, viewport dimensions, and whether the capture was viewport, element, or full page.
- Any relevant automation settings, such as image type, clipping, or device scale.
- Whether the page showed the age prompt or had been accessed through the site’s authorized verification flow.
These details make captures easier to interpret and reproduce; they are practical documentation choices, not a claim that a platform requires a particular evidence format.

The screenshot shows only the age prompt
That is the expected result while the page is gated. Capture the prompt as visible, or complete the site’s authorized verification flow before capturing the content. A screenshot tool cannot grant access to the page.
The page or prompt appears blank
Wait for the page to render and confirm that the authorized browser session can display the target state. A timeout, failed load, or gate may leave no product content available to capture. In Playwright, check navigation errors and the rendered page before saving; do not treat a blank image as evidence of content behind the gate.

The element capture fails
Confirm that the selector matches an element on the current page and that the element is visible. If you need the whole visible state instead, take a viewport screenshot; if you need the accessible scrollable page, use full-page capture without an element target.
The screenshot differs between runs
Keep viewport dimensions and capture settings consistent, and record the browser and date with the image. Page content can change between visits, so a repeat run is a new record rather than a guarantee of a pixel-identical result.
