Use Playwright MCP to open the news page in a browser, choose the publisher’s English or Hindi version, inspect it with an accessibility snapshot, then save a screenshot. The language switch is publisher-specific: there is no universal control or URL pattern shared by Indian news sites.
What you need
- Node.js 20 or newer and an MCP-compatible client, such as a client that supports Playwright MCP. See the official Playwright MCP guide for setup and the client-specific configuration location.
- A browser session able to reach the news site and the particular article or page you want to capture.
Playwright MCP exposes browser automation through the Model Context Protocol. Its standard configuration invokes npx @playwright/mcp@latest; follow your MCP client’s instructions for where to add that configuration. The Playwright guide warns that browser_run_code_unsafe is equivalent to remote code execution, so enable it only for MCP clients you trust.

Open the right language version
- Start a conversation with your configured MCP client and ask it to navigate to the exact Indian news article or page you want to document.
- Use the publisher’s own language selector or its published English/Hindi page link to switch presentation. Some sites may use separate pages or URLs; controls and URL patterns are not uniform across publishers.
- Ask the browser to inspect the page with
browser_snapshot. Use the accessibility snapshot’s text and references to identify the headline, visible language control, and other relevant page elements. If the intended language is not apparent, use the site’s language control and inspect the page again before capturing.
A snapshot is for understanding structure and locating controls; the screenshot is the visual record. Playwright’s documentation puts it plainly: “Screenshots are for looking at, not for acting on — use browser_snapshot to get refs to interact with.” See Playwright MCP screenshots.

Capture the page with Playwright MCP
After the browser shows the intended English or Hindi page, ask your MCP client to use browser_take_screenshot. Its options let you choose the capture area, file format, and resolution scale.

If you omit a filename, the screenshot is returned inline in the MCP conversation. Provide a filename to save it to the output directory. Inspect the image itself to confirm that the correct page and language are visible; a successful tool call alone does not confirm that the page switched as intended. If a language control is hard to find
First use browser_snapshot to inspect accessible text and controls. If a control is visible but missing from the accessibility tree, Playwright MCP’s optional vision mode provides coordinate-based visual interaction. It is a fallback for controls that snapshot-based interaction cannot expose; consult the vision mode guide for enabling it.

Common problems
- The page remains in the wrong language: Do not assume a shared selector or URL convention. Use the publisher’s own navigation or English/Hindi page link, then take another snapshot and verify the visible text.
- The control is absent from the snapshot: If it is visibly present, enable Playwright MCP vision mode and use its coordinate-based interaction as a fallback.
- The screenshot shows only the top of the article: Choose full-page capture for scrollable content. Do not combine full-page capture with an element target.
- The tool returns an inline image rather than a file: Supply a filename when calling the screenshot tool to save the image to its output directory.
- The screenshot is difficult to use for interaction: Use
browser_snapshotto find and operate page controls; screenshots are visual evidence, not an interaction map.
Check before sharing or reusing a capture
Playwright’s general tool documentation does not establish the access restrictions or reuse permissions for any particular publisher. Check the relevant publisher’s terms and applicable rules before republishing a screenshot; capturing a page does not itself grant permission to reuse its content.

Can Playwright MCP capture both English and Hindi editions of the same story?
It can capture the page you navigate to, but whether a publisher provides both language versions and how to reach them depends on that publisher.
