Use Microsoft Edge’s built-in Screenshot tool. Open the page, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose Capture full page, then review the image and copy or save it. Edge captures content below the visible window without requiring you to scroll manually.

The fastest way to capture an entire webpage
- Open the webpage in Microsoft Edge and wait until the content you need is visible and loaded.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S. You can also open the three-dot Settings and more menu and choose Screenshot, or open the page context menu and select the screenshot command.
- Choose Capture full page. Edge creates one image containing the webpage content below the visible viewport, so you do not have to scroll and stitch screenshots yourself.
- Inspect the result. Use Edge’s markup or drawing tools if you need to point out an area, redact information, or add notes.
- Choose Copy to place the image on the clipboard or Save to keep a file.
The command captures the webpage, not a recording of your scrolling and not a general-purpose desktop screenshot. For a smaller part of the page, choose Capture area instead.
What you need before starting
- A Windows 11 computer with Microsoft Edge installed.
- The page open in an Edge tab.
- Permission to capture the page if it contains private, customer, or restricted information.
Edge’s built-in Web capture handles the core full-page webpage task without an extension. The exact menu wording and availability can vary with Edge version and with policies applied by an organization.

Detailed Edge workflow
1. Open Screenshot or Web capture
The keyboard route is the quickest: press Ctrl+Shift+S while the page is active. If you prefer the mouse, open Settings and more (the three dots near the top-right of Edge) and choose Screenshot. The page context menu also exposes the command when it is enabled.
2. Select Capture full page
Choose Capture full page, not the area-selection option. Edge processes the page beyond the visible viewport and returns one tall image. This is useful for articles, dashboards, documentation, invoices, and other pages where the bottom is far below the fold.
3. Check the complete image
Scroll through the preview of the captured image inside Edge’s capture interface. Look for missing sections, unexpected overlays, or a page state that changed while the capture was being made. If the page was still loading, close the preview, allow the page to settle, and run the capture again.
4. Mark up, copy, or save
Markup tools let you draw or annotate before delivery. Select Copy when another application needs the image immediately. Select Save when you need a file for documentation, an attachment, or later editing.

5. Use Capture area for a partial image
Choose Capture area when a complete page would be unnecessarily large. Drag over the section you want, then copy it or open the markup view. This is generally better for a single table, paragraph, product card, or chart than editing a very tall full-page image.

Edge’s full-page mode is intended for webpage content. It is not the same as capturing a whole Windows desktop, another application, or a video of the page.
If Screenshot is missing or disabled
Check all three entry points
Try Ctrl+Shift+S, the three-dot Settings and more menu, and the page context menu. A command that is absent from one location may still be available through another, depending on the Edge build and local policy.
Consider organization policy
Microsoft’s WebCaptureEnabled policy controls whether the Screenshot option is exposed. In a managed deployment, the option appears in the context menu, the Settings and more menu, and through Ctrl+Shift+S when the policy is enabled or not configured. If your organization has disabled it, you may need an administrator to change the policy or provide another approved capture method.

Confirm that you are using Edge
The documented shortcut and Capture full page workflow apply to Microsoft Edge. Other browsers can use different commands, so make sure the active window is Edge before troubleshooting the shortcut.
Windows 11 Snipping Tool as a fallback
Open Snipping Tool with Windows logo key + Shift + S or with Print Screen. Windows 11 provides these modes:
- Freeform snip: draw an irregular outline.
- Rectangle snip: select a rectangular portion of the screen.
- Window snip: capture a selected application window.
- Full-screen snip: capture the entire display.
- Video snip: record screen activity.
Microsoft’s Snipping Tool support documentation does not list a scrolling webpage-stitching mode. Therefore, use Edge Screenshot for a complete webpage and Snipping Tool for ordinary screen, window, freeform, full-screen, or video captures. A manual series of Snipping Tool images can document a page, but it is not the same as one automatically assembled full-page image.
Troubleshooting full-page captures
The shortcut does nothing
- Click the webpage first, then press Ctrl+Shift+S again.
- Open the three-dot menu and look for Screenshot; this distinguishes a keyboard problem from a feature-availability problem.
- Try the page context menu.
- If all entry points are missing, ask whether the Edge installation is managed and whether WebCaptureEnabled has been disabled.
The result is only the visible area
Make sure you selected Capture full page, not Capture area. The latter intentionally produces a selected-region image.

Content appears incomplete
Let the page finish loading before starting the capture. If the page changes during capture, repeat the operation after it reaches the state you want to document. Review the entire preview rather than assuming that the first visible screen represents the whole result.
The image is too large to use
Use Capture area for a focused excerpt, or copy the full-page image and resize it in an image editor after saving. For a long document that must remain paginated, consider generating a PDF with an automated service instead of using one very tall bitmap.
You need a desktop app, not a webpage
Edge Screenshot is scoped to the webpage in the Edge tab. Switch to Snipping Tool for a window, the full display, or a video snip.
Privacy or compliance is a concern
Review the capture before saving or sharing. Markup can help obscure details, but it is safer to avoid capturing confidential information unless your organization permits it.

Reliability and practical limits
A full-page screenshot is a single image, so its dimensions grow with the page. Long pages can be awkward to inspect, paste, or attach even when Edge captures them correctly. For a readable record, consider whether a selected area or a PDF is more appropriate.
The official Edge material describes the feature and its workflow but does not publish a maximum page length, capture-success percentage, or processing-time guarantee. Do not treat any particular page height or completion time as a documented limit. Dynamic pages can also change between attempts; capture the page only after it shows the state you intend to preserve.
For repeatable work, keep a simple record of the page URL, capture date, and whether you used full page or area mode. This makes later comparisons easier when the page content changes.
Choosing the right method
- Choose Edge Capture full page when you are already viewing one webpage and need all of its content in one image.
- Choose Edge Capture area when only one region matters.
- Choose Snipping Tool for desktop, window, freeform, full-screen, or video work.
- Choose an automated API when captures must run from a script, server, build job, or AI workflow instead of an interactive browser.
