How to Capture a Website Screenshot at Samsung Galaxy S24 Viewport Size

Use Chrome DevTools Device Mode to set a mobile viewport and capture it. Enter the CSS width and height you want, set device pixel ratio (DPR) separately if needed, then choose More options > Capture screenshot for the visible screen or More options > Capture a full size screenshot for the entire page. Samsung’s display specifications do not establish one universal Galaxy S24 browser viewport size, so label your chosen settings rather than treating the phone’s panel resolution as its CSS dimensions.

Set up a Galaxy S24-style viewport in Chrome

  1. Open the page in Chrome on your computer and open DevTools. Turn on Device Mode using the device toolbar control.
  2. Choose Responsive in the device list. Enter the desired width and height in the viewport controls; these values are in CSS pixels.
  3. For mobile rendering and touch behavior, choose the Mobile device type. Device Mode simulates a device; it is not proof of how the page behaves on a physical Galaxy S24.
  4. If density-specific styles or high-density image selection matter, set DPR separately using the device toolbar’s DPR control. DPR is the ratio between physical pixels and logical CSS pixels.
  5. Open More options in the device toolbar and choose Capture screenshot or Capture a full size screenshot, depending on whether you need only the visible viewport or the page below the fold.

Chrome also lets you save a custom mobile device configuration. Open the device list’s edit/settings route and add a device with a name, width, and height; DPR, user-agent string, and device type are optional, and device type defaults to Mobile. Menu placement can vary with Chrome’s interface, but the controls are in Device Mode’s device toolbar. See Chrome’s Device Mode documentation and screenshot instructions.

What width and height should you use?

There is no single manufacturer-verified Galaxy S24 browser CSS width-and-DPR pair established by the official specifications cited here. Samsung Electronics America lists the base S24 as a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ screen resolution; that is a hardware display description, not a browser viewport recipe. Samsung Gulf’s S24-series specification page also distinguishes the base model’s FHD+ display from the S24+ and Ultra QHD+ displays. Neither panel resolution nor diagonal size, by itself, tells you what CSS dimensions to enter.

Android defines a web viewport as the drawable region available to the page, measured from the page’s point of view in CSS pixels. Its documentation notes that Android browsers may use a wide viewport of about 980 CSS pixels when a page does not specify viewport behavior; mobile pages commonly use a viewport meta tag such as width=device-width. Consequently, the page’s viewport behavior, browser, and user display settings affect what you observe. See Android’s documentation on screen sizes in web apps.

  • Use a width and height that match the test case you need to reproduce; do not derive CSS width from the phone’s FHD+ panel resolution.
  • Set DPR independently when testing pixel-density-sensitive rendering. It affects output scaling and image selection, not the CSS layout width.
  • Record the configured width, height, DPR, orientation, browser, and capture type with the screenshot so someone else can reproduce the setup.

Viewport screenshot or full-page screenshot?

Capture option What it includes Use it for
Capture screenshot The content currently visible in the emulated viewport Checking a mobile screen, above-the-fold layout, or a particular scroll position
Capture a full size screenshot The full page, including content below the visible viewport Reviewing a long page as one tall image

Choose the capture type that matches the question you are answering. A full-page image is not the same evidence as a screenshot of the initial phone screen.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo can return a website screenshot as PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one GET request. Pass the viewport dimensions you want as request parameters; consult the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for supported options and current parameter details.

Troubleshooting inaccurate-looking captures

  • The layout looks like desktop. Confirm Device Mode is enabled, the viewport width is set as intended, and the page has mobile viewport behavior. A page without an appropriate viewport declaration can be laid out using a wide viewport.
  • Images or styles differ from the expected mobile result. Check DPR separately from CSS width. A different DPR can affect density-specific resources and output scaling.
  • The screenshot is too short. Use Capture a full size screenshot rather than the viewport capture option.
  • The screenshot does not match a physical S24. Device Mode is an emulation. Verify on a real handset when the claim depends on actual device behavior, browser version, or user settings.
  • The dimensions are hard to reproduce later. Record width, height, DPR, orientation, browser, and capture type alongside the image.

Samsung’s cited 2024 specifications also list a 1–120 Hz refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits peak brightness for the S24 series; these are display characteristics, not inputs that determine CSS viewport dimensions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Galaxy S24 have a standard CSS viewport width?

The cited Samsung and Android documentation does not establish one universal Galaxy S24 browser CSS width and DPR pair. Set and document the dimensions for your test.

Can Chrome DevTools prove a page works on a real Galaxy S24?

No. Device Mode simulates mobile conditions. Use a physical S24 check when the result must represent handset behavior.
