Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo capture a website at 1366×768 on a Windows laptop, first decide whether you need a screenshot of the visible screen or an image file with exact 1366×768-pixel dimensions. Set the laptop display to 1366×768 only if Windows offers that resolution; then capture the view you want and check the saved image’s dimensions. For a webpage-only capture, Microsoft Edge can capture a selected area or the whole page.
Choose the kind of screenshot you need
A display resolution, a screenshot of the visible screen and a full-page webpage capture are different things. A 1366×768 display setting does not guarantee that every saved screenshot file will measure 1366×768 pixels. Region captures depend on the area selected, while a full-page capture can be much taller than the screen.

| What you need | Method | What it captures |
|---|---|---|
| A specific visible area | Windows+Shift+S, then rectangular snip | The selected on-screen rectangle, opened in Snipping Tool for editing and saving. |
| The entire visible display | Windows+PrtScn | The full screen, saved in PicturesScreenshots. |
| Part of a webpage in Edge | Ctrl+Shift+S > Capture area | A selected region of the webpage. |
| The entire webpage in Edge | Ctrl+Shift+S > Capture full page | Page content beyond the visible screen; the image may be taller than 768 pixels. |
| A controlled browser viewport or full page | Edge DevTools screenshot commands | The current viewport or the full page; device emulation can set a viewport size for inspection. |
Set the Windows display to 1366×768, if available
- Open Start > Settings > System > Display.
- Select the laptop display if more than one display is listed.
- Open Display resolution and choose 1366 × 768 if it appears. Windows may not offer this option for every display; Microsoft recommends choosing the resolution marked Recommended. Microsoft’s Windows resolution guidance explains the setting.
A lower-than-native resolution can make text less sharp. Depending on the display, the image may appear small, centered with black borders, or stretched. If 1366×768 is not listed, do not assume the laptop can use it as a display resolution.

Prepare the webpage and capture it in Edge
- Open the website in Microsoft Edge and arrange the browser window to show the content you want.
- Use Ctrl+0 to return Edge page zoom to its default level, or Ctrl+Plus and Ctrl+Minus to adjust it. Press F11 to toggle full-screen mode. Zoom and full-screen mode affect the composition of a screen capture. Microsoft’s Edge accessibility guidance lists these browser controls.
- For a webpage-only image, press Ctrl+Shift+S. Choose Capture area and select the portion you need, or choose Capture full page to include content beyond the visible screen.
- Review the result and save it. Microsoft’s Edge webpage screenshot guide describes these capture options.
Use Windows Snipping Tool for a visible screen area
- Press Windows+Shift+S.
- Choose a rectangular snip and drag around the visible area you want to capture.
- Open the notification or Snipping Tool preview to review and edit the capture, then save it.
This captures what is visible on screen, not the entire scrolling webpage. Microsoft describes Snipping Tool as a way to copy words or images from all or part of a PC screen. See Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions.

Capture the full display or use Edge DevTools
Full display
Press Windows+PrtScn to capture the entire display. Windows saves the image in PicturesScreenshots. If your keyboard has no PrtScn key, Microsoft documents Fn+Windows+Space as an alternative on some devices; check the Microsoft Print Screen shortcut guidance for the relevant keyboard behavior.
Viewport or full-page capture in DevTools
In Edge DevTools, open More options > Capture screenshot for the current viewport or Capture a full size screenshot for the complete page. Device emulation can set a viewport size for inspection, but a viewport screenshot is not the same as changing the laptop’s physical display resolution. See Microsoft Learn’s device emulation guide.

Verify the saved image dimensions
After saving, inspect the image’s properties or open it in an image editor and check its width and height in pixels. The capture mode, Windows scaling, browser chrome, selection boundaries and full-page behavior can all affect the output dimensions. The official capture instructions do not guarantee that every mode saves an image at exactly 1366×768.
If the final file must be exactly 1366×768, verify it and crop or resize it in an image editor if necessary. Cropping can remove unwanted edges; resizing changes the image dimensions and may alter how content appears. Keep the distinction clear: making the file 1366×768 pixels is not the same as capturing a 1366×768 browser viewport.

Common problems and fixes
- 1366×768 is missing from Display resolution: Windows only offers the resolutions available for the selected display. Use the Recommended option or capture the view you can set, then verify the saved file’s dimensions.
- The screenshot is not exactly 1366×768: Check whether you captured a region, the full display, a browser viewport or a full page. Inspect the image dimensions; crop or resize if the deliverable requires exact pixel dimensions.
- The full-page capture is much taller than expected: That is normal for a webpage extending below the visible screen. Use Capture area for a bounded portion, or use a visible-screen capture if you need only what fits on display.
- The page looks too large or too small in the screenshot: Check Edge zoom with Ctrl+0, Ctrl+Plus or Ctrl+Minus, and confirm whether F11 full-screen mode is changing the browser composition.
- Windows+PrtScn does not work: Some keyboards omit PrtScn or require an Fn combination. Try Fn+Windows+Space where supported, or use Windows+Shift+S.
