With Playwright, the steps are to open a browser page, navigate to the target URL, click the appropriate consent button, and save a viewport or full-page screenshot. There is no universal consent selector: the right action and control depend on the site and the purpose of the capture.
Choose the consent action before automating it
Decide whether the capture should show the page after accepting, rejecting, or otherwise closing the consent prompt. These actions are not interchangeable: use the control that matches the intended consent state, rather than clicking the first button that makes the banner disappear. Consent interfaces differ between sites, so a selector that works on one page may not work on another.
For a one-off image, you can open the page in a browser, make the intended choice, wait for the banner to disappear and the page to settle, then capture it. For repeat captures, automation makes the steps easier to reproduce.
Capture the page with Playwright
Install Playwright for Python and its browser before running this example:

playwright install chromiumSave the following as capture.py. Replace the URL and the example button text with the target page and its actual consent control. The example looks for a button whose accessible name is “Reject all”; change that to the intended action shown by the site.

browser.close()Run it with python capture.py. The visible-button check and subsequent hidden-state check prevent the script from silently taking the screenshot before the interaction completes. If the site uses a link, a differently named button, or a nested consent-management interface, inspect the page and adapt the locator and action accordingly. Playwright’s documented workflow uses a browser context and page, navigation, and a screenshot call. See Playwright’s Page API.
Capture the viewport or the full page
A regular screenshot records the current page view. To capture the full scrollable page, set full_page=True:

Make repeat captures more consistent
Pages can change appearance because of animation or dynamic content. For locator screenshots, Playwright supports disabling animations, masking selected locators, and applying styles. These are visual capture controls, not substitutes for dismissing the consent prompt: clicking the real control changes the page’s consent state, while masking or styling only changes what appears in the image. Use visual alterations only when they fit the image’s purpose, and disclose them if the screenshot is evidence.

Troubleshooting
The consent button times out
The locator may not match the site’s actual control, or the banner may not have appeared in this browser context. Inspect the page and use the exact accessible button name or a locator appropriate to the page. Avoid assuming that “Accept,” “Reject,” and “Close” mean the same thing.
The screenshot still contains the banner
Make the click conditional on the banner being visible, then wait for the banner or its control to become hidden before capturing. A click alone does not establish that the interface has finished updating.
The page is incomplete or still changing
domcontentloaded waits for the initial document to be parsed, not necessarily for every dynamic element or image. If the page needs more time, wait for a relevant selector or a measured delay before the screenshot. For full-page captures, consider whether content loads as the page scrolls; a screenshot taken before it appears cannot include it.

Hosted automation as another option
Browserless documents an example of automated consent-banner dismissal in hosted browser automation. It can be useful when you want to run browser automation remotely rather than maintain a local browser setup.
